Well, well, well, what a day it was. Been 6 years since we last visited. We figured we would give it another try and see if it has improved and boy they did not disappoint. What's different being seated was they use to have bottled hot sauces on the table which are no longer there, they don't even have them to ask for, but they do have a hotter salsa for a $2 charge. Yes it was tasty and yes it was hot but not sure I will pay $2 for it again I will just bring my bottle of hot sauce I usually carry in the car and put it in their regular salsa. Only needs more heat for us flavor was good it has cilantro but doesn't overwhelm it. The complimentary chips were warm and really thin, wonderful. We ordered enchilada platters, I ordered three cheese and was so pleasantly surprised I didn't have to cut red sauce and add queso it was already on it.. plus.. plus.. I substituted the beans for another rice and they did... the cheese enchiladas were so good and filled with a cheese blend so flavorful, the rice was presented so pretty on the plate not in the usual pile, and so very, very good, finally I can say that the rice would be like their grandma would prepare at home with love. Best plates of Mexican food we have had anywhere even from down south with the exception of Pedro's in Duluth. Hubby ordered all beef enchiladas his had queso on top as well, he said it was wonderful full of ground beef seasoned perfectly with onions and bell peppers, he had beans and rice, beans were very good, I wish I would have gotten them now too, they were not just watery goop on the plate they where actual refried chunky beans with flavor. Very friendly waiter quick to be seated, received our drinks took orders and within 15 minutes had our food, we even got drink refills without asking. I hope this is an example of how it is every day because we are excited to go back. read more

We got rained out camping and ended up at Mi Rancho for dinner, it was delicious! I had the Quesa-birria and a strawberry margarita. Their salsa was good, they didn't have hot sauce, so we ordered their spicy salsa, it was smoky and very hot, but had a great taste. Being from Las Vegas in the US Southwest, it's been hard for me to find a good Mexican restaurant in Bemidji. This one was started by a woman who is actually from Mexico, and many of the employees are her family members. Yes, it's Americanized, but it is much closer to the real thing. Excellent service, good food for fair prices, and a nice mixture of texmex and traditional mexican options. Chips are brought out warm and the salsa is great. Beans and rice I couldn't get enough of. Didn't expect to find decent Mexican food this far north. Next time I'll ask for extra cilantro and onions and double tortillas since the steak was a little wet (the tortillas disintegrated on our plates before we could pick up both the chicken or steak tacos) read more

I seriously love this place. Having been here half a dozen times in the past year and a half, I have never had a bad experience. The staff have always been super accommodating and friendly, offering a warm welcome and a smile as you walk in the door. Swiftly seated and served each and every time - no complaints there either. All of the wait staff has been great but I have had Steve a few times and have been super impressed with him. The food has been plentiful and fresh each time, offerings a full and tasty plate that is more than a single meals worth in one shot. I have had a tough time taking leftovers home, can't stop eating it. The value for your dollar is good as well and the front end manager - owner is a treat to chat with when dining here. Being from southern arizona, I pride myself in my taste for Mexican fare. Mi Rancho did a great job in my eyes! The nacho cheese burrito and 50:50 fajitas were both so good! I hope to come back and try some of the seafood options soon. read more

Went here for dinner tonight. Had the shrimp enchiladas and the shrimp tacos. Enchiladas were good, plenty of shrimp but a little light on other filling. The tacos were really flavorful, especially the creamy baja sauce - highly recommended. Server was helpful and very nice. Busy restaurant but service was great and food came fast. read more

We stopped for lunch on a whim today. Getting out of the car, the smell was fantastic! Clean, professional, lovely bright decor. The ultra thin, salty, WARM chips and fresh salsa were terrific. The food was delicious and the portions large. The sauces on both our plates were savory, cheesy, but not heavy. Simply delicious. Great service, good prices. We will be back most certainly. Excellent Service! Great Food! We went on a Friday night, waited less than 15 minutes and upon seating us our server was there with chips and salsa apologizing for the wait time. She was friendly, fast, and helpful in choosing our meals. They are keeping it clean and also had tables distanced and allowed for plenty of open spaces to help distance. There isn't much to choose from for restaurants in this town, but I was craving chips and salsa for lunch. The outside doesn't really give you any sense of what the place will be like on the inside. Inside was pretty authentic in colors, decor and the staff even spoke Spanish. We quickly were given a basket of warm chips and fresh salsa. The best addition to the chips was adding the white queso dip! It was so good I decided I really didn't need a meal. I did try some of the chicken enchilada and taco which someone else in my party ordered. They seemed to have a very large selection on the menu and the lunch specials were an entire page. I will be back again next time I'm in town to try a meal and more queso dip! read more

MiRancho had gotten so cheap on the chip and salsa and portions.. very disappointing.. if you ask for more chips you get a half bowl and seems to bother them.. their portions are really sad compared to other Mexican restaurants.. we are at El Porto in Grand Rapids and what a huge difference.. a burrito that filled the plate and matched the cost of the food.. never going back read more

This was one of my favorite restaurants in Bemidji. The service is good but they have changed their recipes to cheapen them up. No cheese in the white creama sauce. I usually order one or two of the specials consistently and can taste that they have changed them. Very disappointed, won't be going back. read more

Mi Rancho is the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. As soon as you walk in the building the interior design is beautiful. The tables and chairs have intricate designs that make you feel like you are actually in a Mexican restaurant. I had the Mi Rancho Especial. It was amazing the combination of guacamole, chicken, cheese, lettuce, and refried beans was exquisite. The best part of the whole experience was the complimentary warm tortilla chips and salsa. My first experience here was awful. My food was wrong and when I pointed it out to the waitress, she pretended to not speak English and walked away. Mind you, she had taken our order in English, so I know she understood me. Why 4 stars? On a whim, we decided to give it another try. Pretty sad experience. The food has typically been good and we have been to Mi Rancho several times. But today was a real disappointment. My wife and I took my 97 year old mom out for lunch. She has been there with us before, but was a little confused when looking at the menu and pointed to something that turned out to not be what she wanted. When we said that wasn't what she wanted, we were told that "the manager (Blanca) said that it was one of their more expensive items" ($11.95; really?) and we had to pay for it anyway. We ordered her what she wanted, but were stuck with what she didn't want as well. Hey, our mistake. But I can't believe that the restaurant couldn't handle a dish that cost them probably $5 to make. We still spent close to $50, and much more in the past. Bad customer service. The server was non-existent after that (until the bill arrived). We go to places for not just the food, but the service. I eat out often, and have had plates returned (for whatever reason) with no problem. This was a first. Doubt I'll ever go back. Make sure you order the right thing if your dish is priced at more than "the expensive" $11.95 item. read more
