We started with the Sopa de Pollo, a bowl that made it immediately clear this kitchen isn't interested in shortcuts. Large chunks of chicken, tender vegetables, and noodles floated in a broth with remarkable depth. It wasn't simply chicken soup, it was the kind of soup that makes you wonder why every other version tastes so timid. A squeeze of fresh lime added just enough brightness to wake up every spoonful without distracting from the richness of the broth. Then came the reason for the visit. The Medianoche. I've always preferred the sweeter cousin of the traditional Cuban sandwich, and Latin American Grill makes a terrific one. Thick slices of ham and juicy mojo pork were layered with Swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles before being pressed between soft, sweet bread until the outside turned beautifully crisp. Every ingredient had a purpose. The pork brought richness, the ham added salt, the mustard and pickles cut through the fat with welcome acidity, and the sweet bread tied everything together. It's one of those sandwiches that reminds you how satisfying simplicity can be when every component is done well. Sometimes the best restaurant recommendations don't come from guidebooks or social media. They come from someone who simply says, "You should eat here." In this case, they were absolutely right. A great Cuban sandwich doesn't need reinvention. It just needs great ingredients, careful execution, and a hot press. Latin American Grill delivers all three.

The decor is made to look like the inside of a hacienda with the tile roofs and stucco columns (yes you tell I'm a structural engineer :) The music was mostly 80s ballads, and service was very attentive. They even brought one of the desserts with a candle for a colleague's birthday, and took our group's photo. We started with a couple of baskets of buttered herbed Cuban bread and dipping chimichurri, as well as an appetizer sampler including refried beans, fried cheese and tequenos. The fried cheese was served on a little piece of pita bread and is a must try. I also enjoyed the refried bean soup, especially when dipped with plantain chips. As far as my main course, everyone knows how much I love cows! I enjoyed a sizable piece of churrasco, juicy even at medium well, sweet plantains and moros (here they serve it with red beans instead of black beans) and crispy house-made plantain chips. The Tres leches was also very fluffy, with a lot of cream and perfect enough to send me to a nice little after lunch nap. I also washed it down with Cortadito.

I drive from downtown miami to get the chicken salad, omg! So juice, flavorful. Delicious. Staff very friendly and willing to help. You order at counter and wait on A/C location. Really casual and great Colombian street food. Great burger and surprisingly no such a good cuban sandwich but the Colombian hamburger made it for it. As a matter of fact, we don't have anything with bread." Umm ok. I then tell my mom to order because I now need more time to look at their menu...my mom orders sancocho. She replies "sorry we don't have sancocho right now". (Even though their sign is blinking outside with sancocho.) I then ordered something with plátano, and she said they don't have any either. How do you have a Dominican restaurant and not have plátano on deck??! Who's doing the inventory in this place?!? It's lunchtime, what the heck? The server recommends the yaroa, which for ppl who don't know what that is, is like street food...fries, cheese and meat...I would eat this after the club, not really for lunch. At that point, we decided to just walk out, which is such a shame because even though their menu was limited, it all sounded good but they just didn't have anything available. SMH. I tried 3 times...I will not be back. There are far more restaurants that will gladly take my money. I'm giving 2 stars...1 because parking is available because it's in a plaza, and 2 because they're Dominican and wanted various items off the menu.

Quite possibly the most interesting food truck experience I have had to date…read more.. I say "interesting" and you might ask 'why?' Well sure, I'll tell you. Hiding behind a business building and off the road to where if you're not looking you'd never see them is this food truck like any other. The interesting part comes in when you actually arrive at their location in the parking lot and connector road between this business office building and the nearby strip mall. It's a food truck that aspires to be a restaurant - they set up tables, a couple of large pop-up tents, and plenty of chairs. They also have a staff that acts as waiters and table runners - it was the most interesting food truck experience for sure. After ordering at the table (you don't order at the food truck's window) your food comes out fairly fast and it is a massive serving regardless of what you choose. My cohorts had their pork and hamburger monstrosity of a sandwich, while I had this massive Columbian version of a sub - it was delicious as it was impressive to see. These meals were so big nobody finished theirs, but it wasn't for want of trying. The only nit I have is that we had to wait quite a bit of time for one of the servers to drop by and take our order - Though busy, it wasn't so much so we could have had our order taken a solid 5-minutes earlier. No matter, we luckily weren't in a hurry so it wasn't an overall big deal, but it was strange to have to wait so long for no apparent reason.
