Don Matias Restaurante is a hidden gem in Hialeah! When I say hidden, I mean it's location May not be were you take a date but the food is sure to leave you satisfied. Parking can sometimes be an issue but there's always people coming in and out. Food is a definitely a taste of back home. It's the type of food that I say not only feeds your hunger but your childhood soul. Service is great but not subpar. I think it comes with we're it located. Ambiance is definitely like you were back in your country. I mean it's in the middle of Hialeah. Hialeah is a glimpse overall of being back home because of its plp. Highly recommend their bandeja paisa and sopa de pollo. We took our order to go but we have eaten in restaurant many times.

The food is amazing!! The servers were sweet since we don't speak Spanish~ Definitely coming back next time. The bathroom is very clean too.

On a Friday night my husband and I were in the mood to eat some home cooked Colombian meal & Don Matias does that well. He had the delicious churrasco and I devoured the bandeja paisa, which is the pic you see (it looked prettier before I dived in). The waitress was attentive, the vibe in the restaurant was nice too, had a good playlist with Colombian music, which was nice on a Friday evening.

Hole in the wall in a mostly industrial area. Glad I stopped. Asked the waitress what I should try, being a Colombian restaurant she said, everyone asked for el Plato paisa. She said order the churrasco with seafood. I did! Great choice!!!!

Hialeah has a host of so many flavors and Don Matias does a great job of offering good Colombian food and really great service. The owners wife always greets you at the door and her smile is present. We had the calenton which is rice and beans mixed with a pork rind , corn cake and eggs with veggies to finish off the meal. The resturant is made for the workers in the area that make this place a staple if your in East Hialeah. The price point is decent and the location is pretty big. Overall a go to stop when you want to keep it simple and enjoy some well.executed colombian food.

Cool spot in town. If you're like me and have never tried Colombian food, this is a great place to come and try it. Though; I had a hamburger, lol. The staff is helpful and friendly. The decor is on point; you'll feel like you just stepped into Colombia when you walk inside. The owners of this restaurant did an excellent job in the decoration.

    Deliciosos los buñuelos!

This place really knows Colombian Food concept, the menu items are just out of this world, the staff is super kind and friendly plus the restaurant is clean with a perfect musical environment. A place to always come back. Thank you Don Matias Restaurant.

In the heart of West Hialeah near Palmetto expressway and Okeechobee Road there is a restaurant hidden in a corner in a shopping plaza. It is called Don Matias. They specialize in Colombian and Cuban food. They have great food from their Colombian style burgers soaked in their tangy sauce, pan de bono, arepas to the can't miss Bandeja Paisa. They serve traditional Colombian beer Aguila in a frozen mug. The decor brings out native Colombian style huts and a wooden theme that is really a nice warm feel. As Colombians are big soccer fans they show all major soccer events. It is a nice place to catch a soccer game, hace a casual lunch or nice dinner. Can't go wrong at this place the Bandeja paisa brings fried eggs, chicharron, steak, beans and more. Last but certainly not least comes dessert. I tries the milo dessert it was chocolate goodness with a cream twist a must have! This has been a rewarding find for me and I recommend it to anyone wanting a Latin style comfort food meal. Enjoy!

I have been interested in this place for quite some time now, finally stopped by. No Cazuela Paisa, but I made my own with one of the best bandeja paisas that I have had outside of Medellin. The restaurant serves mostly Cali with a lot of coast meals reminiscent of Cartagena and or Barranquilla, but guys the Chuletas Caleñas was like being there again. Everything is made fresh to order, even the arepas! Great service from everyone. The restaurant is hidden from the street and on outside view it hides how big it is inside. A rola by the name of Connie was our server and she was extremely attentive.

    Little hole in the wall.

The portions are healthy and a $30 entree is easily enough for two with a toddler. I would only venture the whole thing if I was working construction again or just got done with a tough workout. The skillet meal we ordered (bandeja paisa), with crispy pork belly, picanha, Morcilla, Columbian sausage, egg, arepa (grilled corn cake), maduros, red beans and rice was all perfectly prepared. My daughter snatched the avocado so I never got to try it, but she seemed to enjoy it so it must have been good. All meats were cooked to exactly where they should be. My only minor complaint is that i would have preferred a runnier egg.

The restaurant was split into two sides with a trinket store offering money transfer services. The Colombian espresso single shot was an absurd $4.00 but the food here is supposed to be excellent so I ordered a beef empanada. It was small but flavorful with a semi-crispy shell at only $2.50 it was a steal. The gender assigned bathroom outer door had a cartoon guy wearing a sombrero hat indicating the men's room. Clean with Terracotta Mexican style flooring providing an earthy vibe with an out of order urinal.
