Great spot. Did take out and was amazed at how good it is. It's on a busy street and hard to get to but they have parking in the back. Food was really good. Got the Mofongo, Pernil, and a bunch of side dishes. At first prices look high but the serving sizes are huge so next time we know the serving sizes and can plan accordingly. read more

I had to give a star in order to write a review. I purchased some ox tails on 5/18/23 paying $56.42 for 2 large containers. Only to eat one with my daughter and got sick to our stomach. We had diarrhea and very bad pains in the stomach. We started to go to the Urgent Care to seek medical services because we were really scared. But we allowed our body to get rid of the food poisoning obviously from the ox tails. Do you know when I called the next day to tell them I don't want this other container and how sick we got Carmen the owner did not give a damn at all. She told me I was the only one to complain about the food. This really was a poor example of a business person. She took absolutely no responsibility for the food and did not want to compensate me for the other container. I had my husband take the other container and beans & rice back to her the very next day. This was not my first time eating the ox tails with no problem, however, this last time they just were not any good and must have spoiled and she still sold them because she is desperate to make money. I good customer service facility would have apologized and gave some money back to the customer to make it right. If she really gave a damn about her business or her customers, but not Carmen. I told her I will see her in court I was so upset the money I lost in this transaction. People be very caution of this food they leave out all night or day. read more

The food is a hit or miss. One day it's good the next extremely salty. I haven't tried their sandwiches but after having issues with their food it doesn't strike me to want to try their sandwiches. I honestly am slightly obsessed with this place. I have been here about two times now and sat in both times and have absolutely no complaints. It is a small business and as soon as you walk in you can see the dishes in front of you through the display. I personally prefer when restaurants do this due to the fact that i am so damn picky and would prefer to see what i am eating before i order it. As for my most recent visit it consisted of me ordering carne guisado with the usual rice, beans and i asked for a side of yuca. The meat was moist and tender and it had absolutely no fat, thank god because fat skeeves me out, lol. The rice and beans were perfect and so was the yuca. Full of flavor and did me justice since i was super hung over from the night before! They were also able to make some chicken fingers and french fries for my son which were a little greasy but very delicious. The seating is limited. There is only two very small tables but in reality i don't care about that and would rather have my spanish food hot on the spot then have it delivered or picked up and taken back home. Over-all, i am very pleased with this place and plan on returning damn near every week! read more

Ehhhh 2 stars is a little too low so i will say this place gets a low 3. The little one wanted rice and beans for dinner but I had a long day at work and didn't feel like cooking. I ordered Maduro's, carne guisado w/ rice and beans and pollo guisado w/rice and beans. Delivery came within half an hour. The food smelled DELICIOUS in the bag. My dogs and I were salivating. Maybe because I was hungry enough to eat a small horse. I immediately popped open the Maduro's to steal one and my heart dropped when I opened the container. As someone who has mastered the art of picking out ripe plaintains and cooking them at optimal ripeness (I wait until they are completely black outside) I could right away tell that these platanos were not ripe enough. A quick test confirmed that. My daughter loves Maduro's and didn't even finish one. Smh I was very dissapointed. Anyway, moving on to the main dish. I can't speak for the pollo guisado cause I had the carne but it was ok at best. The meat was tough and had too much vinegar. The beans were flavorless. Maybe I'm spoiled? I didn't expect it to be as good as home cooked but I thought I would at least be able to fool the baby. Nope. She asked me why the beans didn't taste like mine. Overall this place is ok if you haven't had real good Dominican cooking but I'll pass next time. At least it satisfies my immense hunger in the meantime. read more

I've had almost everything in here : Their sancocho on Saturday's when I feel sick, which is really good... They literally put the broth in a container and the meats in another one .... Now that's what I'm talking about!!! Most places put everything in one container and barely put meat in the sancocho... Also the mofongo de chicharron OMG is so good and they literally put half a pound of chicharron... The plantain is not dry at all and they give you some mojito and gravy sauce to go along with it mmmmm just talking about it--- is making me hungry... The white rice with beans and stew chicken is real good as well .... My favorite is the yellow rice with stew beef ... Their portions are huge and u will be left with leftovers for 3 days!!!! this was one of my favorite restaurants however yesterday I ordered my food and someone else's for delivery. I am a frequent customer and they brought us old food. The pernil was a different color and extremely salty than I ever had and hard as if someone Tried to season and recook old food and the chicken was also not fresh the maduros or fried plantain I ordered was less than half the quantity I normally get with my order. but i paid the regular prices and for delivery. This is absurd and I now have to find a new restaurant to give my money to. read more

I normally like the food when I pick it up but I had to give a poor rating when I ordered on seamless . Delivery guy had a nasty attitude, pretty much seemed annoyed that he couldn't find my building . Funny enough my building is the ONLY building on the street and I specified that it's a building . So although he was a complete shit on the phone , I still attempted to tip him because the delivery was on time. He rejected my 20% tip and walked off with an attitude. Because of his behavior I took ALL the food and tossed it in the GARBAGE, can't trust that he did not tamper with my meal. How unfortunate?!!! This is the first time I go in to eat but I have had their food before. Mi Tierra is definitely a family owned restaurant with extremely friendly service. I'm Dominican and this restaurant is gold. I had rabo (oxtail) and my husband has carne guisada (beef stew) both very delicious. I've tried other Dominican restaurants and none of them compare to this one. The flavors were really really good and the portions were delicious (depending on whether you get lunch or dinner). Price ranges between $5-$19 on dishes. All their produce is fresh.
