AUTHENTIC! Delicious! Fun! This little Mexican restaurant is in the back of a Mexican grocery store. The restaurant has a welcoming energy from the minute that you enter. We visited on CInca de Mayo. There was loud Mexican music playing and people would occasionally burst into song. It was easy to get caught up in the festivity. The menu offered amazing options. I would have been more adventurous, but needed to make the two plus hour drive home so wanted to stay on the light side. Diego, our server, spoke just enough English to take our orders. He was super friendly and checked on us regularly. The food came out in about 15 minutes with everything prepared fresh. I had the Enchiladas Mole made with chicken. The plate was artful with four huge enchiladas and a generous portion of Mexican rice. The mole sauce was the best I have ever tasted, rich and flavorful. My husband had the Burrito with beef. I stopped by as I was looking for something a bit more unique to be frank to atmosphere was not as welcoming as I would of hoped tried to get a hold of an employee to question what types of sweet baked goods they had; not much luck on that. I've had two meals from this place, and my partner has done a carry-out order of nachos with me. All in all plenty of good food. Not the best I've had in the area, but pretty good. My first experience was a burrito that I sub rice for extra beans, which meant it was a giant mess, it was delicious, but it was not a eat it with your hands tied burrito but a fork and knife affair. The Price was right, the woman answering the phones was very friendly and answered my questions, including that you could substitute french fries for something else. Really what kind of Mexican place gives you french fries with a burrito? That's just confusing. But the guacamole salad I got instead was perfect on the burrito. Next meal I got a steak torta that was... Okay. The meat was overcooked, and someone chewing. The rest of it was fine, but a bit of a let-down with that meat being underwhelming. My partner's nachos supreme that I asked for sour cream and cheese on the side they instead gave us a whole other side of sour cream and cheese and loaded up the same amount on top of it. That's not such a bad thing cuz I get the trying to be generous and this was a gigantic plate of nachos, right there's no way this was not three meals worth of nachos. So if you're looking for cheap way to feed a family or to feed yourself for a week go ahead and order the nachos supreme. What really took it up a notch is my Sunday discovery!!! I don't know if this is Sunday only, but there is an entire selection of hot foods available for purchase by the pound with a red or green sauce included. I buy the Birria taco meat and consume hot and assemble at home it is so good. I've tried the beef, the pork and intestines, roasted jalapeños, onions... What a find... inside the Mexican super mercado is this unassuming restaurant serving the most authentic Mexican food I think I've ever had. First, the chips... warm and thick. Served with salsa to die for... hot enough for me, mild enough for the Mrs. Tasty! I love soup. Year round. And seafood, too. Didn't have far to go to get the seafood stew, only served on weekends. What comes out is a bowl chocked full of shrimp, crab (both snow and blue), mussels and fish. You can't understand how much seafood there is until you plunge your spoon into the broth and just hit shell. The broth was flavorful and delicious. The seafood was nicely cooked. There were even carrots and onions, but I was too preoccupied with everything else. Though $17 is a bit pricey, it's well worth it. My wife had the fajitas with chicken, shrimp and beef. Okay, so I have driven by this place many times and viewed it as a Mexican Grocery store. So, the other day as I am driving by I notice, on their electronic sign board, that it says tacos $1. Who knew there was a restaurant inside - one of the best kept secrets to some of us. Today, we gave it a try for lunch. In one of the corners of the place is the restaurant. It was busy. I got a Tortas with al pastor. That is a sandwich with pineapple flavored pork and other toppings. It was very big and delicious. The bun was a special type of bread which was great and the fillings were luscious, as good as al pastor that I have ever had. I only ate half the sandwich, was full, and brought home the other half for latter. Actually, I just finished it before writing this review. My wife got two taco's al pastor. They were packed with lots of meat and delicious. We have been to many Mexican restaurants in Cincinnati and this was great al pastor. Also, they bring out chips and salsa, although the chips were just okay. The food here was wonderful. Prices were very reasonable on a normal day. I say that because they have various specials on different days of the week. Today the Tortas was on special, which made it really cheap for what you get. Looks like on Wednesday and Thursday's they have $1 tacos. Something tells me it is really busy on those days, but we will definitely have to check it out. When we were done we walked around the grocery store. They have a lot there including fresh fruit, produce and a full butcher counter. People there were very nice. The meat on the tacos was just right - full of flavor with the proper garnishing (onion and cilantro ontop, radish and cucumber on the side). The taco tortillas were proper street sized, double corn and heated just perfectly! All the sauces were great. The were out of flan, so we tried their chocoflan and it was delicious! I come here once a week to grab groceries and tacos. Everything you need is here- food, groceries, butcher, fresh produce, pan dulce, and dranks if needed. I usually get tacos to go (they are amazing every time) but I grabbed a drink this time around while waiting for my order. We were given chips and salsa while we waited so ended up eating there! The drinks were strong and the tacos were amazing! I had the chicken and al pastor both came with salsa verde, rabanos y pepino. The hostess was attentive and nice throughout our stay. This place reminds me of LA just as good if you're craving some authentic food. The shrimp was marginally under-seasoned as well, but still good. Horchata was good, not overly chalky. Tres leches cake wasn't as moist as it should be, but still worth trying. Service: I met some friends here, and as each person arrived, our server came to take drink orders. When we all arrived, she was quickly back to take our food orders. The food itself came out ridiculously quick, like less than 5 minutes. Facilities: Mi Tierra is primarily a grocery store, but with an attached restaurant inside. There's seemingly ample parking outside, but when leaving around 8:30PM on Friday, there were cars waiting for a spot in the parking lot. So I almost hesitate to share this on Yelp because I was so pleased with my accidental find of delicious authentic roadside/taco truck kinda goodness. But because I'm a good citizen and a generally nice guy I am sharing. Mi Tierra Supermarket is, well, a supermarket and most days of the week it's JUST a supermarket where you can buy some nice authentic Mexican food items ranging from produce to marinated carne asada. But on weekends, Saturday and Sunday primarily around mid-day (I'm still not really certain on the exact hours after years of going here), the back of the store is transformed into a little taco/burrito/sope/etc stand/shop where you can wait in line and order terrific eats! The more exotic options are there like lengua, cabeza, tripa but I generally stick to the chicken and beef which are damn good. You just go up and order it and can actually stand in the back of the store and eat the tacos (which are traditional street tacos with just onion, radish, cilantro and meat in a double corn tortilla about the size of the palm of your hand) and then take your slip after eating them all to the front store checker where you can then pay for your tacos. It can be rather busy on the weekends so you might have to wait a little bit. (There's also the chance the degree of English proficiency you encounter among staff, patrons and even the checker may be a little limited but you can probably make do with lots gesturing and pointing, or just tote along your friendly Spanish-speaking Asian dude - much like myself - and entice them to aid your efforts in exchange for a gratis taco or two). Mi Tierra is a wonderful Restaurant that can only be accessed by going into The Supermarcado. It is no frills but the quality of the food and authentic taste is TOP NOTCH!! I had the Beef Tongue burrito and it was huge in size and taste, best Lengua I've ever had! Not only was it excellent it also came with some very tasty fries. I could only eat half the burrito so Yay I had the other half for dinner. I spoke with some of the other patrons and everyone had a different favorite so I will have to come back many times. I did enquire about the menudo for my fellow YELPer Larry and all said it was better than anywhere else, so Larry if your ever in Cincy let me know and we can meet over a bowl of menudo.
