When I came into the place I was like ok did I just walk into a dentist office or am I here for a fancy drink . I love the style the place has its like this fabulous modern Hollywood glam look. The girls in the front are super cute and OMG!!! Nice . Super friendly they are patient and any questions you have or doubts they totally help you with and explain everything. I went with a Groupon that my sister got me , I was a bit scared because of all the negative reviews I read here on yelp and wow am not sure where the other yelpers went but they got their info wrong . They did just as the Groupon said they took X-rays they did a teeth cleaning they didn't charge me extra they didn't hassle me for my dental insurance so I was like are these other yelpers writing about the same place?!?! Like what the Butterfly?!?!. Totally weird, but C' est la vie. So again I loved my teeth cleaning he did a awesome job totally forgot his name now but he is the only teeth cleaning tech there so can't be that hard to get him. Dr. Alvarez was so nice and adorable so hard not to love her , she was super sweet and explained all my teeth issues to me and what I should do. I recently got a new HMO dental insurance plan that sums up to total crap, and I hadn't been to the dentist, easily in over five years. I was concerned I wouldn't choose the proper Doctor within my coverage plan and would end up paying great money for something I would need retouched in a few years, but like a gift from God I found Dr. Elibeth Alvarez DMD and her superstar staff. When you put aside their fancy zip-code in Coral Gables and their particularly well-manicured, modern looking facility, their work definitely dominates. To sum things up I had an appointment for 930AM which I confused for 11AM. and had to move to 230PM. I arrived a bit earlier to fill out their first-time patient paperwork, which took no longer than 5 minutes to complete. Once in, I was greeted by Dr. Alvarezs' dental-assistance who took my X-rays and warmed me up to embody the confidence of someone who regularly goes to the dentist. Moments later after I've been pre-disclosed on a flat screen television streaming an HDMI feed of my entire mouth, I meet the Dr. Her and I had spoken the Saturday before on the phone when I was doing my "search for a Dr." and I was lucky enough to have her answer the phone after her receptionist had left for the day, this however, happened on a Monday. She greets me assuring we had spoken on the phone and was very informative on everything I needed to know. She made sure one left no question unanswered and gave me the best medical recommendations for my condition which convinced me she knew what she was talking about. My entire visit lasted about 4 hours with my procedure taking a bit over an hour, but time flew by faster than a speeding ticket. This place was bizarre. I was a new patient and I showed up on time for a routine check up appointment. I had to wait an hour to be seated. That alone is not such a big deal, I understand that schedules can get messed up. Some time after I was seated, a technician took my x-rays. After that, the dentist identified and visually examined my teeth, examined the x-ray, made a treatment recommendation, and left. He spent very little time explaining the treatment recommendation, and it was nearly impossible to hear him because he mumbled very softly and the office very noisy. The office is basically one large room with the chairs separated by wall partitions, so it's hard to hear in there if people don't speak up. I tried to get the dentist to elaborate on the treatment recommendation, but he just wanted to get out of there. After the dentist left, the staff just forgot about me. Twenty or so minutes later, the woman at the front desk came to me and started talking about payment while I was still in the examination chair. No one cleaned my teeth, no one did a polishing, no one did the little fluoride cup thing, none of the familiar trappings of a regular dentist visit. What dentist office does not clean teeth at a routine visit? When I got home I actually Googled "typical dentist visit" to see if cleaning and polishing was really some unusual perk I enjoyed all my life until now. It really just felt bizarre. It was like my appointment abruptly ended. After the woman from the front desk finished talking about payment, I asked her if I was done, and she said yes. No one took the paper bib off me. I took it off myself. I'm not sure why I had the bib anyway as no fluid or spit was involved here. I had to move the overhang light myself so I could sit up and exit the chair. I'm not sure if they were just having a bad day or what, but it was just a bizarre visit that fell way below my expectations. I will not return. read more

Just came from Dental Cosmetic Spa - one molar less - and it was by far one of the best dental experiences I've ever had! The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. From the moment you walk in and that lavender scent tingles your nose, you get the full on, personalized spa experience - BUT you're at the dentist! I found this place after a root canal gone wrong splintered my molar into pieces! Dr. Cordova went in with the idea of saving the molar but it was beyond help and it had to be extracted. She was able to determine the appropriate course of action after she took some x-rays, which were immediately displayed on her laptop! They are very cutting edge! They prepped me right quick, I asked for the 'laughing gas' and they immediately obliged (at an extra cost, of course) leaving me relaxed and unfazed throughout the whole procedure. AND, it took a little under an hour! The dentist was gentle, knowledgeable and courteous! I didn't feel a thing! I recently saw Dr. Carlos Gutierrez for an extraction and I can honestly say it was the best dental experience I've ever had. He handled the procedure with such great precision and care. I was very surprised by how fast yet detailed he worked. I've had sutures put in my mouth before that are painful and invasive; however, the ones put in by Dr. Gutierrez are so light and unnoticeable that I forget they are there. I came out of the procedure completely satisfied, I would definitely recommend seeing Dr. Gutierrez if you're someone that likes great quality! read more

I'm baffled by the negative reviews I see on here - I can only assume that Dental Cosmetic Spa has taken care to improve their services since then, so I'll give them credit where credit is due! I meant to write this review months ago, but better late than never: I visited Dental Cosmetic Spa for two cleanings while living in Miami. They were understanding of my financial situation as a full-time student and, to my delighted surprise, allowed me to use the Groupon for both visits. (I didn't even suggest this!) This left a strong impression on me - clearly this is a practice that cares about establishing trusting, longer-term relationships with its patients. They did suggest some additional work for my teeth, which I haven't yet completed - but the rates seemed reasonable enough, and these services were never pushed. The front desk, hygienists, and dentists I've seen have all been friendly and down-to-earth. It actually seems like they enjoy working there, which is understandable given the warm, decidedly non-stark environment they've created. I'm visiting Miami next month and look forward to making my third appointment. Also, at least when I was there, there is a massage chair. read more

I never leave reviews, but I am making an exception for a truly great experience. Dr. Alvarez and Sharon(front desk assistant) are fantastic!!! Dr. Alvarez is friendly, knowledgable and truly cares about her patients. She makes a point to remember the patients' names and puts them at ease the entire time during treatment. Further, Sharon makes you want to keep coming back. She is very transparent about the costs of the services and always answers your questions in a friendly and knowledgable way. I went in for a routine visit and was recommended the deep cleaning because it had been a while since my last visit to the dentist and my gums had some damage. That same day I got my x-rays and the first half of the cleaning. I have returned at least 4 times for cavities and a night guard. The people complaining about the Groupon probably needed a deep cleaning instead of the regular cleaning they purchased. This is NORMAL if you have not had a cleaning for more than a year. I don't know how people expect to self-prescribe themselves via Groupon and complain when the service they purchased is not the service their teeth need. The $200-300(can't remember specifically) for the full deep cleaning is competitive! People need to realize that health costs are high! This place offers a really nice environment, with massage chair included, friendly staff and extremely knowledgable doctors for a competitive price. Very kind, professional, and patient staff. They took the time to listen to what my needs were and ensured that my comfort was taken into account during treatments. The attitude throughout the office here is very patient focused. I originally came in with an emergency need. They welcomed me as a new patient and quickly addressed my pain. I purchased a Groupon for myself for the professional teeth cleaning. When I called to make an appointment they were pressuring me to use my dental insurance and not my Groupon. When I persisted to use my purchased Groupon, they said if I need a deep cleaning I anyways would have to use the insurance. To me it sounds like they try to use Groupon as a cheap advertisement to get customers to call and when they are on the phone they try to use sneaky ways to ger more money out of the people. I have never really enjoyed the dentist... but this place made me feel so comfortable. 1. They were respectful to me and didn't speak in Spanish (which I find is rare) 2. They immediately attended to me after filling out paperwork. 3. Gypsy was a fantastic dental tech and it was the first cleaning I had that was pain free. She explained everything she was doing and made it known for the things I needed to change to improve my dental health. I'm very happy I found this place on Groupon and although I spent more than I was planning on, it didn't seem as if they were doing things just to take my money. Dr Alvarez is very knowledgable, personable, and kind. I've been to her for 2 cleanings, fitting for a mouth guard, and a crown. The office itself is open concept which may be off putting at first as you can hear and see other patients - there are dividers in between but the office is still entirely open. The girl at the front desk is always very sweet and they have worked to fit me in when I've had tooth pain. My husband also goes to her and has never had any issues. read more

I was pretty nervous to get my wisdom teeth removed because of some horror stories i've heard but i am completely happy with my experience here! i came in for a routine visit, was told I needed to get them out and was asked If I should go ahead and remove them. I purchased a groupon for a deep cleaning. When I called to make an appointment the receptionist told me repeated that she has to tell me that the groupon is only for a simple cleaning and that if the Dr. says I need a deep cleaning, I'm going to have to pay more. I agreed and asked how much the deep cleaning costs. She said she couldn't tell me prices over the phone. I said I have to know what to expect, & asked what would be the price range. She said she didn't know but she just had to let me know that I could owe more, a figure she couldn't tell me. I told her it sounds like a scam- I paid for a cleaning, and now I have to be prepared to pay an unknown figure when I arrive. I ended up cancelling my groupon- too sketchy! read more

Starting with Sharon, she is the administrative assistant and she is fabulous, so kind and funny. The hygienist Maria is amazing too, she did a deep dental cleaning to me and I felt great ! And Dr. Carlos is awesome too, you don't feel anything, anything hurts and you are perfect the next day. Plus they have a friendly schedule, so is perfect if you work until late. 1) Open office area that you can see & hear other patients clearly. 2) Turn over rate of the Receptionist is quite high which can't give much of the answers to all of your questions. She either can't speak English well or someone speaks perfect English but with an unfriendly attitude. The office NEVER returns the phone calls after taking the messages regardless if you leave the messages w/ a person, thru email, fax or texts. 3) Such a fancy place w/o the facility for rinse & spit. No mouth rise when you do teeth cleaning! The Receptionist said there may be a fee if a mouth rinse is requested, she had to ck w/ the doctor to be sure. 4) Deep clean was strongly suggested by Dr. Alvarez for me to do when two other dentists told me it wasn't necessary to do so. read more

I don't normally write reviews but this place deserves one. What they did to me was criminal. I called to inquire about teeth whitening. I explained that I was 3 months pregnant and asked if it was still ok to have my teeth whitened. The lady who answered the phone put me on hold for several minutes so she could speak with the dentist and finally responded that I would have to make a consultation to see the doctor - insinuating that it could be done, but that they wanted to see my teeth first. So, I made a consultation. When I arrived at the office, I waited just over an HOUR to see the dentist only to be told within the first TWO MINUTES of my conversation with the dentist that teeth whitening is NOT recommended at ANY stage of pregnancy. Within minutes, I begrudgingly thanked the dentist (since I had to leave work early for this huge waste of time) and grabbed my purse to leave. As I was leaving, I was asked to pay an $80 CONSULTATION FEE for something that could have been told to me over the phone. It was obvious that all they wanted was to get me through the door to have me pay a consultation fee. What they did to me was criminal, unethical and just plain wrong. read more
