My distance vision is very bad plus now I also have close vision problems, so I am hard to fit for contacts. I've been satisfied with the prescription results and the eye health exams are thorough. Dr. Bierly has a very pleasant chairside manner. One time, outside of my yearly visit, I developed some itchiness/pain in one eye, and they were able to see me in a hurry. Dr. B diagnosed it and prescribed an eyedrop medication and it cleared up quickly. The office, which appears as a ranch house, is small and not at all modern, and occasionally looks a bit messy. There is no sign outside with the practice name. I can get past these quirks because the pricing is definitely reasonable. You can even get a pair of glasses (even bifocals) for $75 from a special selection of frames, if you don't have insurance. The optician I mentioned now works here too. Her name is Ginale and she's really good at what she does, with decades of experience. You'll be pleased with the eyewear she crafts for you.

After my exam when I came out to pick out glasses was told everything was verified and I would owe nothing. In SEPTEMBER I receive a bill for $411 saying if not paid in 10 days i would be turned over to collection! I called and was told they can't bill 2 insurances. Called the insurance they said that's not true. Called their separate billing office and was told it should have been billed to both and they would have to submit it now to get a denial due to timely filing and write it off. Called them back, get a different excuse and they refuse to bill. Now I have to pay because their billing department messed up and it took them 8 months to figure out! Now I have to send the insurance after them.

I had a relatively short wait and they were able to work with my insurance plan. I was able to get an appointment for a very reasonable date just a week or so down the road. At last visit the comment from the tech was, "Oh, you don't have glasses yet?" I said no, I get my frames online and order lenses at Walmart. I said, " So I'll take my prescription with me please." She said, "Oh, we don't do that." I said, "After 5k and all the testing you have done each time, and I can't get my prescription?" "No, that's not our policy." Now spending another $85 at Walmart to get my prescription. If I have to drive 100 miles to get away from Whitewater Eye Center's monopoly in this geographical area, I will.
