I made an appointment at Americas Best in Springfield, and this was the best experience I have ever. The store was clean, well kept, and everyone was super nice. Roberta and Tammy were so kind with helping me, and accommodated me with my wheelchair. The Optometrist was also great. He doubled checked my vision, and made sure my eye were healthy. He was very thorough, but also quick! There was a pair of glasses I wanted that I had bought years ago, and Roberta called a store in Arizona to get me the last pair in the country! We switched insurance companies and I found this place on the insurance website. I called and told…read morethem my glasses broke and I need to make an appointment, I asked how much an exam would be and they told me $80. They also told me my insurance would cover my glasses. I get there and they start doing way more to me than I had asked, they did a contact exam, dilated my eyes and turned them yellow, all I asked for was a simple eye exam! When it came time to pay, they charged me almost $400!! I was told $80!! I eventually went back and got a refund for my glasses and canceled the order, but I was still out the $165 they charged me for a contact exam. They tried replacing the lenses but the new lenses are not good either. I don't know if it's the prescription or the lab that they use. I have regular glasses that are effectively useless. I have prescription sunglasses that work well for sun but I can't read with them. I gave up on the regular glasses. The transitions are bad in both pair. So now I switch between readers and the sunglasses and sometimes my old pair of glasses. A lot of money was involved. Even if they gave me my out-of-pocket money back, the insurance money has been spent. The insurance probably isn't going to pay again. I'm just stuck juggling glasses.
