Had my exam, picked out my glasses but never saw anybody for my actual contact measurements to even start the process of getting contacts. My appointment with Dr. Wells was on 01/21, at this time I had two months extra left of contacts, something that should be safe timing going into an annual exam. I was not called to pick up my new TRIAL contacts for my adjusted prescription until 2 weeks after my appointment and did not have them until 02/11. I called on 02/17 to discuss the trial and what I wanted to order. I left a detailed message with all of my prescription and contact information. I did not have a returned call until 02/26 which was them leaving me a message asking me how much I wanted to order. I then kept calling, sometimes even having someone pick up and hang up, and leaving messages without reply. Eventually I decided it would be easier to order from an online provider. I then tried over the next week to call them to get access to my prescription until finally having time from work during their hours to go in person on 03/12, so now I was down to one month remaining of contact lenses left. I was told their phones "have been acting up," despite my insurance also faxing them multiple times within the last 2 weeks. (There were a giant pile of unanswered faxes at the front). My insurance was counting down my days at this point to cancel my order since they had not heard back from the office in a timely manner, at least one of my faxes had been put in over a week prior. Then come to find out, Dr. Wells had not even finalized my script with what I had called in about after my trial, so there was no contacts prescription for them to even provide to me. The manager sat down with me, and tried to give me sample lenses that weren't even my correct prescription to "get me by" while he had to take notes of our conversation to finally give to Dr. Wells to even finalize my prescription. I was told to wait until end of day to get this emailed to me, because he could not touch base with Dr. Wells at that moment. This did not occur. I, instead, had to go in person again on 03/13 at 8am and call in late to work. So it will now take me over two months to get my contacts from the time of my original appointment. I'm a veterinarian, I approve prescriptions and call clients regularly throughout my appointment times during my days. The front desk staff and Dr. Wells were lovely at my appointment, but the disorganization and lack of client communication was super stressful and unprofessional. read more

AVOID - The office staff is rude and lied about scheduling. There are better options in Dayton.

This was my first visit to an optometrist. The staff is mainly rude, but most doctor's offices aren't very welcoming. The person who actually did my exam was really nice, told me about everything she was doing, taught me about eye care. I picked out my frames and I'm still waiting for a call back to come pick them up. They said it takes 7-10 days, it's been 13 days. It might be fine, but I have no idea because I haven't been able to contact the office and they haven't returned my messages. Im hoping that this place isn't just a scam and I will actually receive the frames I paid for. read more

This is the only optometrist I have ever used, so I may not be the best judge, but I've never had a bad experience in the past 8 or do years I've been coming here.. There is never a long wait, the staff are friendly and personable, and they all try to help you get what you want/need. I hadn't been wearing ing my newest glasses, so the optometrist showed me the difference between my two pairs of glasses against his chart. Also they offered me a variety of price options for seeing my computer (from new glasses to a step-down that fits on my old glasses). The best part is that they don't try to sell you stuff you don't kneed. My prescription changed by half a point in one eye, and I was told that new glasses weren't called for, unless I wanted new ones. read more

Other than having used them for glasses and fittings in the past and having had the rude elderly secretary deride me for an appointment she messed up, since I had it scheduled, or rather was supposed to be, coordinated to be on the same day as the podiatrist next door, I decided to try them again-- assuming I could get past the evil gate-keeper who screws up appointments then blames the patients without even giving courtesy confirmation calls. SO... the Exam went fine with Marc Gilbert, & was the 1st time I saw any of their eye doctors, he agreed I had contracted an eye infection, we discussed an antibiotic drop (I was often lately contracting them from my baby niece, & my mom too-- she went to a kroger little clinic with fine results) and I waited not only the entire day for my prescription and all the next day, upon which I had to call their office to see what the hold-up was, with gooey-eye, disgusting the whole time, only to discover they had called in NOT an antibiotic as promised, but a mere antihistimine re-wetting drop, so I was livid with rage especially after calling repeatedly to the office manager at their other location who was rude beyond belief. This Dr. Marc Gilbert OD is a bold-faced liar and their practice seeks only to milk more money out of you & allow you to suffer-- and the office mgr. lady is extremely rude, and dishonest as well, having pretended on the phone with me that she was a lady doctor in their practice and then later recanted her statement. Nothing but money-grubbing liars, a completely unacceptable trait to have in the medical profession. He needs censured for malpractice. I had to go to another eye doctor, an urgent care, and my regular doctor to get different antibiotic drops , a different kind each time, because of the delay which created some resistant strain from hell. And I almost killed my car getting there in record time-- on time-- for a last minute appointment, that was all for nothing in the end. I hope he drops dead for being a bold-faced liar, this MARC GILBERT, OD, curse him to hell. read more
