Another time I had a severe pain in my arm (tendonitis) and I needed a referral for an orthopedic doctor and I did not get it right away. When I called to ask why it takes so long, his secretary told me that he did not stamp it, as an urgent request. Plus he prescribed the wrong medication and he apologized later One day my right leg was swollen and I mentioned that it was a side effect from the Bisoprolol pills I was taking, his answer was that I need to stop eating so much salt. But when I stopped the pills, my leg went back to normal. Another time I found a treatment on line for my rib inflammation and I gave him the information to read and he pushed it away. I guess his ego got bruised. During the last visit, I was talking to him about having a sensation of pins and needles in my left hand and he gave me a referral for an EMG test and he asked me to send him a letter with the diagnosis from the Neurologist. It did not occur to him that it could be carpal tunnel syndrome. If you are "lucky" enough, you may get a quick diagnosis from his secretary Tamara in your way out, when you are paying your co-payment. Her diagnosis for me was that, I'm suffering from depression. Only if you see her, how unhappy, smileless and joyless she is, then you will understand who is really suffering from depression. Sould I mention her smoking addiction? The form did not specify how they will deliver my records. I tried to get Dr. Lee's office email but the receptionist roared, "We don't have an email here!" then hang up. Nevertheless, they ended up faxing a 150 page to his office. His office called me hysterical about the whole thing yelling at me to make it stop. Frantically, I called Datalink and left a message, and also emailed them. Moreover, Dr. Damon Lee's office called me back and continuously yelled at me because Datalink could not stop the fax. I was also informed after being scolded that because of this, Dr. Damon Lee is refusing to see me. I was stunned and distressed with their decision not to see me because of this error made by a third party. I explained that this should not affect their decision to see a patient. I reported this incident to the Medical Board of California because I believe a physician should not refuse to see patients for inconsequential incidents such as this. The lady at the front desk is extremely vicious (I am using a nice word here). I can't even express in words how she screamed at me and didn't even let me speak. My mother had a bad fall recently and had to be taken to the hospital Emergency Room. Although they checked her out and prescribed pain medication, they really didn't provide any advice for improving her health. Dr. Lee called us the very next day - as soon as he received the report from the hospital - and provided all the critical information that we needed to help my mother get better. Dr. Lee also arranged for in home health care visits by nurses and physical therapists to ensure a complete recovery. We would have never known how to arrange any of those kinds of medical visits. I wish I could give one million stars in my review because Dr. Lee deserves them. I appreciate that my 93 year old mother is feeling much better and is able to walk more each day - all because of Dr. Lee. His office staff of Barbara , Rosa , and everyone are truly wonderful too. They are always so sweet and patient when we are in for office visits. They have helped me so much in dealing with my mother's (often difficult) prescription medication mail service provider. I've been seeing Dan Dinenberg for the past 2 1/2 years and he's the best! The quality of care that I get from Dan and One Medical is fantastic. Everyone should have access to such great care. I have so many good things to say...this is going to be a long review. First off, upon joining up and my initial evaluation Dan and his team identified an underlying medical issue that had been the source of other issues that had gone undiagnosed for MANY MANY years. The level of attention, listening, dot connecting and then coordination across Dan's team that went on in the matter of a short time was amazing. He has both western and eastern medial training allowing him to look at things from multiple points of view. He doesn't seem to have an arrogant bone in his body. He listens, he's patient, empathetic, realistic, curious and a very good communicator and educator. He doesn't pretend to know more than he does, he leverages the expertise of other MDs in the practice when needed. This means I get the benefit of lots of care, experience and perspective for the best outcome possible. Though I don't expect him to remember details about me amidst all of his patients, he remembers little things that make the interactions feel personal. Not only can I make same day appointments (though he might not be the MD that I see) but when I had an urgent need after-hours I had the option to leave him a message on his cell phone versus the on-call. He called me back at 11pm and did realtime scheduling with me for a follow-up appointment. He's very considerate of cost implications and whether or not you have insurance when advising you on approaches though he always makes the medical necessity/bottom line clear. If I've ever walked away and thought of another quick question, I've always been able to email him to clarify which is super helpful.
