Dave was very quick. I called and he came out within 2 hours to my home. My 65-inch Samsung HDTV was going on and off with no picture. I thought I would be out a TV. I called to ask about fixing a cracked screen on a flat screen TV, in a matter of 20 seconds the replies were "I can't help you with that, they don't make screens to replace that. I can't help you with that" in a non-friendly customer service tone. After I called another local shop, and the representative was cordial, friendly and more into having a pleasant conversation with a potential customer. For Advanced, might not be a bad idea to be personable with potential customers asking a simple question or put the information on your store website besides Yelp about not servicing cracked screens if you'd like to avoid getting that question on the phone. read more

I called David as my TV was not turning on Thursday 9/23. He came and opened it up on 9/24 and he said that he thinks it could either be the back lights or the boards, he was able to look up parts online and said that he should be able to fix it but will give us a quote before ordering the parts. He took the TV to his shop and texted me back on 9/27 saying that it was indeed the LED lights and he gave me the option of either replacing only the damaged ones or replacing the full set as the LED color was bluish which could affect the quality of the image. I opted for replacing the full set which he initially quoted me as 240$ and I was happy to pay that, definitely beats having to buy a new TV. David Ordered the parts and installed them and Delivered the TV today 10/4 and told me I had to pay only 190$. Overall it was a great experience he is very efficient, transparent and very easy to work with. I would 100% recommend David to any of my friends / family. read more

The owner created a very unpleasant experience. I sent my TV to this repair shop to fix some minor issue. When I got the TV back the TV Screen became defective and started smoking and sparking. You can imagine how upset I am with this situation. Instead of calming the situation, David gave me a call and started yelling at me. Saying it was unreasonable and rude to blame this defect on him. How ridiculous! I should be the one angry and shouting but yet David let his emotions took over. When my TV went black shortly after the 3 year warranty expired I called the manufacturer who walked me through many troubleshooting steps which did not fix the problem. I figured it couldn't be repaired but would call someone anyway. In today's throwaway society, I bought a new TV which seemed like a waste, so I did not unpack it from the box and got ahold of David at Advanced TV. He came out to the house (house calls!), diagnosed the problem as being a blown backlight, took the TV, and returned it the next day, fixed for less than half the cost of the new TV. He immediately diagnosed the issue, and didn't have the right part with him, so he took my enormous TV with him, fixed it and had it back at my house, on my TV arm and completely dusted off within 3 hours. I purchased a 55" Insignia TV a little over two years ago, and last week while watching TV it just turned off. My heart sank. I watched a number of YouTube videos to see what the problem could be and decided that it was probably best left to a professional. I was worried that it would take a long time to fix, be a hassle to transport the TV somewhere, and would cost me a fortune. Turns out, I had nothing to worry about. I called Dave and he arranged to stop by my place the following afternoon for a nominal consultation fee. He immediately identified the problem and quoted me a very reasonable price to take the TV back to his shop and repair it. If it worked, I just pay the fee; otherwise he'd dispose of the TV and I'd just be out my consultation fee (but would have the peace of mind knowing there was nothing I could do to fix it). The following business day, Dave let me know he was able to fix the TV and delivered it back to me that afternoon. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, prompt, and reasonably priced. Way exceeded expectations! Called at 5:00 pm, closing time, and left a message that our 55" wall-mounted TV was unresponsive. Got a call back from Dave at 8:45 this morning. We had a full, and confidence inspiring, discussion of symptoms, diagnosis, likely fix, less likely fix, and costs--and an appointment for this afternoon. [Fainted from surprise.] Dave appeared, a little earlier than promised; he'd brought the parts for the most likely fix. It didn't go exactly as expected, as he had to rebuild a circuit board--rather than take the TV back to Belmont he was able to work on the board in our living room. All fixed; costs as promised ($275 all in); living room fully respected--I literally can't imagine how this service could have been better or more responsive. And for context: after leaving the message for Dave, I called the Geek Squad--best they could do was an appointment five days from today; their diagnostic fee is $95 and they charge another $95 if they have to take your set off the wall. read more

Trying to get a good deal, I bid on and won a TV off Ebay. It seemed to work perfectly fine for about a week, but then I started getting a weird flicker as well as patterns of random colors on the screen. I called David and he came by to take a look. He normally charges $40 to come over and make a diagnosis. While at my house, he was very polite and seemed knowledgeable in his craft. He said something about my controller board cables being dirty. He opened the TV and cleaned the two cables with rubbing alcohol, which seemed to fix the problem. He charged me a total of $100 to clean the cables and said if that doesn't fix the problem, it is the controller board itself. He said that he would come back and install the board for no additional charge (just the cost of the board) since I just paid him $100. A few days later, I started to have the same issue as before. I called David, but got his voicemail every time. Over the course of the next two weeks, I left him several messages explaining the situation and asking if he could find the time to come back and try again. He never got back to me. After a few weeks went by, I called him on my girlfriend's phone and he picked up almost immediately. I told him who I was and he said he was "still checking into it", that he "hadn't forgotten" and that he would call me back in the next day or two. I have since called him back on several occasions and he has not picked up. It has been 6 weeks now and I am going to use a different service--unfortunately for me, I was stiffed the $100. He seemed knowledgeable enough I suppose, but there isn't much customer service on his end. I essentially gave him $100 and my TV is just as broken as it was before he arrived. After returning from a two week vacation, I discovered the tv in my bedroom did not work. I knew I had to use the tv remote but I only made things worse! It was a Saturday night and I had to wait for Monday morning. I called then and spoke with David, a magician when it comes to repairing tv's. He's come to my home in the past to repair one tv or another. Luckily, he was just leaving to pick up a tv in Sudbury then he'd be able to stop by my house. A 2011 42" plasma TV was giving us problems, not turning on and flashing the power light 14 times. Dave charged $60 to come look at it, thought it was the HDMI board, and took it with him. Back in a day or two, plugged it in, worked fine, charged an additional $140. The next day, back to the same problem, then couldn't get it turned on or off by any of two remotes or on the set itself. Dave called me over the weekend while away, picked it up early Monday. Determined it was the main power board, which was mysteriously corroded as if it had gotten wet (it hadn't). He replaced it, made a time to come by, showed up on time (he's good about that), plugged it in, and all is now fine. AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. Great great service, Dave. Thanks so much. My main TV (a 46 inch LCD) suddenly stopped turning on properly after 6 years of use, and Microcenter sent me over to Dave, since Microcenter doesn't repair TVs/monitors. I was really worried that it was dead for good, which was terrible since this thing still costs a few grand (it wasn't a standard consumer-grade TV you'll find at a normal store), and I didn't want to lose it. Dave ran a diagnostic, felt like it was repairable, ordered the parts, and got the work done! He was very easy to deal with, and when I got the TV back, it worked just like new again! Price was completely reasonable, as was the time it takes. If you have a good TV go bad, definitely have Dave run the diagnostic and at least take a look at it. It will be in good hands. read more
