It's also a working art studio, and Janet is a joy to speak with. Beyond the art pieces by Janet and others, you will also find a plethora of vintage objects and ephemera for sale. Many of the pieces are expensive, but truly good art is expensive because someone put vast amounts of time, effort, and creativity into an original piece. Definitely worth the trip if you're looking for unique pieces with a certain aesthetic.

The owner of the gallery makes a lot of the art that is hanging about. This is not your normal art at all. It is a huge mixed media cornucopia of repurposed, reclaimed, vintage, collage, etc. of fantastical art works. And they are not just the owners but there are also some other interesting artists presenting as well. Her hours are not set in stone but I think you can especially count her as open on the weekends. Best way to know is to give her a phone call. She does a lot of art work in the shop itself since it's also her studio. Crow's Nest is what you would expect to see in a crows nest, full of sparkly, unique treasures and other delights. Toledo is not that far from other towns nearby like Newport. The town is picking up on some momentum too but still a work in progress.

It's not pushy sales people like you find in Carmel and other coastal towns. I wasn't swept into a room and offered champagne. The sales staff allows you to walk around and view without harassment. At one point we were asked if we would like to take a picture of some art we like. Some Fine Arts Museums have changed their policies and now allow photography in parts of their permanent collections. However, they typically ban all photography in special exhibitions, which are often the main reason people are visiting. Galleries are trying to sell art so typically pictures would be ban. I appreciated the gesture. We practiced the best self-control we possibly could however after falling in love with this picture the first visit we had to purchase the second visit. You'll also find other beautiful glass items of hot glass sculptures such as octopus and crab etc. Huge paintings are hanging throughout the shop as well and include a large selection of the amazing Yaquina Bay bridge. They have very lovely jewelry in their cases including some sea glass work. There's a second floor that has a great Mickey collection and other works of art upstairs. It's one of the first galleries on the street as you head down Bay St. from the Coast Guard station. And if this all seems a little fishy to you don't take my word for it. The owner was absolutely fabulous and even assisted me in mailing an item home for a surprise birthday gift. Highly highly recommend visiting on your trip up the Oregon coast. In fact, it's mandatory.
