The people hating on this are boring. There are so many cool things packed into here for people like me. They have actual Olympic torches! Actual astronaut suits and meteors and patches that have been to space! They had so many oddities and unique things that I'd never thought I'd see in my life. It's changed since I was a kid. SO MUCH FUN! Just went to Ripley's Newport for the first time today and had a blast! My wife and I were highly entertained and had a wonderful time here. Growing up on the Ripley's Believe It Or Not books as a kid and visiting a few of them when I was younger, finding out there's a Ripley's Believe It Or Not in Newport is what got us to make the six hour drive down there and it was so worth it! First of all, Ripley's is right there on the incredible Newport waterfront just a rock's throw away from world class restaurants, several great shops and the famous Sea Lion dock where for 10-11 months a year, you can watch dozens of Sea Lions just below your feet and all over the Bay. We had the best time hanging out down there, trying all the restaurants and watching the Sea Lions. Ripley's was divided up into four different parts. You have the Ripley's Believe It Or Not section, you have the Wax Museum section and you have two different game sections. I was kind of worried if I was going to enjoy Ripley's. Would middle aged old broken down me love this as much as twelve year old me? Yes, yes I did! We had so much fun going through the museum of the odd and the interesting of Ripley's. All of the neat exhibits, interactive things and photo opportunities were hilarious and so much fun. We laughed our way through the whole thing and loved it! There's many different sections to it. Also kids will love this place because there's a whole cave area you can crawl around in. The staff at Ripley's were excellent and so nice to us! I stupidly lost my ticket (which you need to access all the different things here) while broken down middle aged old me was army crawling through the Ripley's caves. The staff was so cool helping us and letting us into each different part of this venue even though I had stupidly lost my ticket. Very cool, very impressive, great people. The wax museum was a lot of fun. Tons of photo opportunities! And if you're going with your significant other or your family, you'll definitely want to take lots of pictures and save those memories. We enjoyed all of the different parts of the wax museum including my all time favorite thing at Ripley's which is the distortion tunnel! The two games there were a really cool addition! I've never experienced either one before but really loved playing my wife in both of them. The first one is a really fun game where you have to hit the most lights lighting in a sequence. And there I was, broken down middle aged old me running as fast as I could laughing like a moron slamming lights in sequence trying to beat my wife who was doing the same thing on the other side of the arena. The second game was so much fun where you could either work together to try to hit the most lasers or work together to try to avoid the lasers. I found myself throwing myself on the ground like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible and trying to worm crawl under a series of lasers that would've spelled our doom if we tripped them. The games were a really fun and unexpected addition to our Ripley's experience. I could see how this might not be for everyone. But growing up on Ripley's Believe Or Not, this was such a wonderful experience. We originally came down to Newport on a complete whim because we were shocked there was a Ripley's so close to us. Not only did we absolutely love this Ripley's but we discovered Newport which is an absolutely amazing coastal town and probably our new favorite holiday destination. 6/5 would recommend for anyone with a sense of humor or who enjoy weird and silly things. Ripley's was about two hours for us and it was perfect going there and then enjoying the rest of the Newport waterfront, all of the sights and the world class restaurants there. read more

Absolutely a waste of money. Took the kids here on a rainy day, paid for all 4 "experiences". The Ripley Museum was not that interesting at all, pretty small. The "wax museum" was mostly cheap mannequins. No "wax" replicas. The laser game and light smash game were both broken, so it was a big waste of money. Don't bother. read more

Three stars only because of the lack of parking in this whole Historic Bay Front area. This was my 4th attempt and finally was able to park here. We arrived so early that most of the shops hadn't even opened yet, but all the parking was already taken by all the ship hands, processing plant employees and store front personnel. I'm honestly surprised that ANY tourists can even get in there to keep the shops open. Anyway, Ripley's was fun and informative. Almost like an historical tribute to Mr Ripley covering his travels, explorations and discoveries. We've all heard of two headed animals and contortionists and so on, but here there are videos, old time photographs and even skeletons proving these thing did exist. The displays are very informative with facts and maps and there are also very kid friendly exhibits. The museum was very clean and the staff seemed very enthusiastic. There is a souvenir shop with lots of fun gadgets and there is also an on-site wax museum sort of an affair that was entertaining enough to go back. This was the fourth attempt we had made in this Bayfront area but was the first time we found parking close enough to go in. read more

It's kind of cool to check it out. They change up stuff a lot of times. Price is fairly reasonable. I think you can get like a tour. If you do two or three different tours in town, you get a discount when you buy them together. It's definitely centrally located. You can get anything you want. At 31 years old I had never been but my fiance and I went the last time we were in town. We did both the Ripley's and the Wax museum. Honestly I had a blast. I can't imagine going every time we come to newport but it was fun to go. It was really cool to read and learn about Ripley and all this adventure. Plus when I was young the show was on tv so I remember hearing about some of the stories. I will say I can see where this would be spooky or creepy for little kids so that is worth noting. We did the wax side second and I absolutely loved it. I was so shocked out from room to room it felt like I was in the film them self. Honestly it was kind of awesome. The staff was fine there. We wanted to do the wax hands but someone was there and making 4 of them. They had one person working it and it was going to take to long so we left. read more

It's a pretty cool side show attraction, funky. None of the wax figurines look like the celebrities, but still fun. I did think the price was a little much, but then I remember what minimum wage is, and the recent hikes on energy costs...so the price actually does make sense. I don't know why this place doesn't have better ratings. Went with my family. The kids loved it. So much to interact with and everything was working and a lot of really cool, interesting things. We didn't actually even make it into the museum as my daughter tripped in a pothole in the crosswalk on our way over. The guy working in the gift shop not only supplies us with first aid, but got us a water to clean it with and came out to help us clean her up. He was incredibly kind and I don't think I even really thanked him. I was so focused on my kiddo so I forgot to catch his name... Johnny maybe? If you read this, sir, thank you so much! When I visited this place I was highly disappointed , the wax sculpted are plastic Vegas is WAY BETTER . It claims to have been remodeled and sadly nothing caught my eye . Not sure why this place has only 3 stars. My Mom, two daughters and myself came here for the day. We weren't sure what to expect. We were blown away at how cool it was. My daughters are 10 and 6 and very much impressed with the believe or not side and the waxworks side. My oldest is a huge Stranger Things fan so she was so excited about seeing that section. I loved the Guardians of the Galaxy movie so seeing those characters. Highly recommend this place especially for movie buffs and kids. read more

I've never been to anything like this. Very fun! Lots of interesting facts and artifacts to explore. There's a lot to see and a lot of surprises along the way. A few favorites, art made entirely of M&M candies, art made of tiny bits of duct tape, Pringle chip art; the freakishly tall man replica, the bathroom signage. I don't want to share all the cool pictures cause it's better to be surprised! But I'll add a few ;) I think if your passing through, it's definitely a nice leg stretcher and experience all together. This place is super fun for the whole family. There are some scary parts that are more like a really high budget haunted house so maybe use caution if you have little ones. We tried to come here before the pandemic and they were closed for remodeling. We finally made it back out there and the exhibits were really fun and interesting. Every time I visit the coast I get asked if I've been to Ripley's Believe It or Not so I figured it was time to finally check it out. I went in knowing most people thought it was a waste of money so my expectations were already pretty low, and I think that's why I was able to actually enjoy myself and my boyfriend agrees. It was entertaining though nothing extravagant, and not too much really stood out. I knew pretty much every tidbit of info/stories they covered but there were a couple of things that made me jump and genuinely scared me for a second (I wasn't expecting things like that) and there were a couple of things that made me do a double take to figure it out. I bought these tickets in the combo that also came with a walk through the Wax Museum and the Undersea Gardens. Unless you're really short on time, I'd recommend the combo. Not because they're all amazing, but because they can all be pretty short to walk through, and at least with the combo you save money and it seems more *worth it*. This also isn't something I'd recommend if you are on the Oregon Coast for a short amount of time. If you come here often or you have an extra day you want to fill with activities and felt like you've seen everything else, then I'd add this to the list. It's not something you should feel like you're missing out on if you can't find time for it though. read more

We ended up spending a day in Newport during a cool fall day without expecting or planning to be here . I was very excited to find a Ripley 's. Visitinh the location in San Francisco is among my favorite memories from childhood and I wanted to share this with my kids. Fun, interesting, exactly what I expected. A little expensive , but for an extra $10 , the wax museum and undersea garden were included. Tip: the inside is very dark and my visually impaired son had difficulty getting around and seeing many of the attractions that could have been enjoyed in better lighting. This is worth considering for anyone who has difficulty seeing or getting around in the dark. read more

I am not a fan of the Ripleys franchise. The exhibits are far less than fascinating. A dress made of postage stamps. Um, OK. So I am not rating this place low for the Ripleys exhibit. It was as boring as I expected, so it met my expectations. But there is also a wax museum here, and for that, this place gets the death star. It is the absolute worst wax museum I have ever seen. Madame Tussauds this is not. The actors/actresses and Beyonce look nothing like their real selves. The rest are merely superheroes and Oregon explorers and Big Foot. To compare, at Madame Tussauds, my daughter and I joyfully take pictures with almost every exhibit because they are so life-like. Here, we only took one picture and that's because the Christmas lights from Stranger Things was recognizable. The actress was NOT. $50 for the two of us. I'd have rather spent it on just about anything else. read more

Like others mentioned, try to find a Groupon to get a discount for all three attractions. If not, I would just stick to the main Ripley's. Some of it is old, some of it is weird, some of it is interesting and some are just cheesy. It's fun for the family especially if you're in Newport and have seen the sea lions for the umpteenth time. There is the main museum, the wax museum and the Underwater Sea section. Each attraction had their own interest and takes about 30-45 minutes depending on how long you stay to read each exhibit. She attempted to credit the amount back, with the assistance of another cashier, but they did not generate a receipt for record. I asked that she make a notation on the original in case it did not post to my account. It never posted to my account. Their phone is never answered and has no v.m. option and fb msg has been of no help either. As a working single mom of two I count pennies, so it is pretty disappointing to be RIPPED off by RIPley's. read more

I had high hopes the gift shop would be full of unusual stuff for the kids but it was mostly tourist gear, yawn-worthy toys, and junky dollar store stuff. read more

Okay. That was super fun. So many weird and cool things. My favorite thing was a room you can dance or do whatever in and this screen would do these crazy things with your shadows on the wall I literally can't even explain it. Fun for the whole family. There was a P.T. Barnum exhibit that was amazing. At the very end you go into a black room with little lights everywhere so it looks like you are just floating around in the galaxy. My son was scared at some points but it's October so it was kind of like a first haunted house for him. The only reason I won't give it five stars is because I felt like I was in this cool little world and then BAM! The exit takes you straight into a gift shop. I didn't appreciate this. I felt like I was in a world of oddities and fantasies and then I was hit in the face with consumerism. That took this place down a whole star for me, as psychologically every experience is ultimately greatly influenced the ending. Pretty damn cool though, besides that! read more

My husband and I took a mini Vacation to Newport, OR. We were so excited to go see Ripley's Believe it or Not, but were disappointed to see a note posted on the door that said "Closed due to inclement weather". It had snowed in the early morning for 5 minuets and then cleared up and turned to off and on Sunshine and a light rain drizzle. Not sure why they had to close since everything is inside.
