They also have the waxworks museum connected right to it. I do miss the old nostalgic layout as it brings back a lot of memories and I think I still have photos of it from years ago. I'll have to check. Anyway, it's a great little pitstop when you're waiting for reservations you made in the area or you just wanna kill time and have a little fun in the old town.

The Ripley's Believe it or not was entertaining and it is the same as the others around the United States. The Wax Museum was okay basically only the head of the figures was the wax portion the rest is not. It was okay. Gift shop had some pretty nice and neat stuff to purchase.

Depoe Bay is blessed with a plentiful food source, and a protective environment for grey whales. I've lived in the Pacific Northwest most of my life and have taken for granted just how accessible whales really are in this region. During peak migration months it's possible to view the whales right from your car as you're driving down Highway 101! From the moment we booked our $55 tickets for a six-person, 90-minute whale watching tour along the coast, everyone at Eco Excursions made us feel welcome. It's evident these folks really love what they do, because everything just fell into place. Booking tickets was easy, checking in was a breeze, any concerns about locating and boarding the boat were taken care of. Our guide was friendly and informative, and really went out of his way to make sure we had a pleasant experience. There's something so magical about viewing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Experiencing whale breath, viewing them so closely you can count the barnacles attached to them, and repeatedly seeing them surface and fluke... nothing compares! It's difficult to explain the pure joy I felt out on the water with a team who clearly bring their A-game to work every day! Perhaps even a primary home as well but I do like living in a large metro area because of the various services and entertainment options at your disposal. I have been to this Natural Area twice now and it's just so beautiful! The first time I really took advantage of taking pictures of the lighthouse here as well as the view. The second time was a repeat of that particular activity but in addition to that we went down to the tide pools and were immediately entranced with all of the aquatic life in those pools. We took pictures of that and were just so revitalized immersing ourselves in the nature there. I t was beautiful and simply amazing. Really nothing else needs to be said other than if you are touring along the Oregon Coast and are hitting the lighthouses this is a must stop... well they all are actually but this one really is. There is another lighthouse on the south end of town so Newport has scenic and at another time more practical advantage of having two lighthouses in the same town all within very close proximity. Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area is truly a beautiful place!

We went up to the lighthouse, down to cobble beach and the tide pools, and everywhere in between, it was so much fun. It was sunny and started raining after we arrived, it's fantastic either way. We were here close to low tide, so that helped improve our tide pool experience, but you can't go wrong fitting this into your schedule while on the coast!

We were given an exhibit guide that gave some information about artifacts in display cases that were numbered. Not sure why they went the route of an exhibit guide rather than posting the relevant information next to each item. The displays, on the most part, were well curated, and the history blurbs were interesting. The upstairs had a nice little kids exploration area.

Americana galore!…read more We only had a about ten minutes to browse because we had to be somewhere else (not so good with our time planning...) but we could have easily stayed there for at least a half hour. If you're into the last century's pop history, this is a great place to see some bygone ephemera. We had free admission, thanks to a grant that the organization received. And this place is run by volunteers. So super duper impressed!
