Being semi-new to the area and not really having years of knowledge about different areas on the Eastside, I knew I needed to find some sort of expert to help in the search. And who better to help my husband and me on our first-time buying quest than someone with the last name Link!? (Activate triforce sound effects!) :-) We actually didn't choose him based solely on his name, but out of a handful of agents with decent profile descriptions we thought he was the best of the bunch: experience (and... experience working with a range of prices, so we didn't think he'd scoff at us when we asked for help), knowledge, professionalism all were evident in his write-up. We gave him a call and he still seemed to be a winner, so we met with him to discuss our search. He had a packet of information for us, maps of different areas and also discussed the current market trends including descriptions of several multiple offer deals he recently worked on. I was feeling somewhat overwhelmed and almost discouraged after that first meeting; I really thought it'd be a fairly easy process as I saw on various home buying tv shows... We planned to go on a house tour the following Saturday and visited a few different areas so we could get a feel for them. We had already gone to a few open houses in previous weeks and knew some of the different locations, but Mike's insight was also greatly appreciated and welcomed. We were able to share houses we were interested in seeing and during the week Mike shared potential listings with us too. We didn't find anything we couldn't live without that first tour, so we scheduled another for the following weekend. During our 2nd tour we did find a house we really liked and kept touring the others on the list. The more we thought about that house, the more it seemed like it was reasonably priced and somewhere we could really be happy. Due to Mike's expertise with multiple offer situations (he called the listing agent and we found out there was at least one more offer expected that day on the house - later we found there were at least 4 more offers for the house after we were in mutual acceptance... and some were higher than our offer!) we were able to make a strong offer and it was accepted! Mike walked us through the rest of the home buying process and we never once felt abandoned. He even connected us with an amazing contractor who updated our entire kitchen in just 2 weeks! Mike really made an effort to get to know us and understand what we were looking for. We feel lucky to have been able to work with him (especially because of some of the unprofessional things the sellers' agent did during the process - Mike served as a great buffer and filter for a lot of nonsense there should not have been), and we also feel relieved to have not lost our house due to a bidding war; I can't imagine continuing the house hunt after losing a house! When the time comes that we need to sell (hopefully not soon!), we definitely plan to call Mike... and as friends begin buying houses we'll definitely recommend him. This is a long overdue review for Mike. Mike helped us find the ideal home in the winter of 2015. We were new to the area and did not have much of an idea about the housing market. All I can say about Mike Link is Awesome! I was one of those difficult sellers, who wasn't sure about when to sell and had all kinds of special needs and requirements.
