Dr. Belda is a very personable dentist and is generally very thorough with follow-up to the hygienist's cleaning. Generally one cleaning a year is a clear bill of health, followed by the next cleaning with a gut punch to the work that will now be needed. However, when it comes to billing for a very loyal family that has been coming to him for years, there is much room for improvement. I had made an appointment for myself and had to cancel due to a work conflict. My wife had tried for two days the week prior to the appointment to cancel my cleaning and have my son take over my appointment. After touching base three days later after leaving messages, they had rescheduled my son to take my appointment and had supposedly canceled mine. However, when my wife showed up the morning of my son's appointment, they had insisted on charging us a "no show fee" of $50 for me not canceling (which my wife reluctantly paid, even though my son was taking my place) and had then notified my wife that we were out of network now with my company's new insurance. With that being stated my wife walked out knowing they were about to charge us out of network and an exorbitant amount of $$, and unfortunately we won't be back and will need to look for a new dentist. Lesson is that if you are loyal, stay loyal. We've been going to Dr. Belda as a family for years and the "no show fee" has been charged twice to us for unusual circumstances. Especially when we just wanted to replace one appointment with another. I hope other's aren't taken for this money grab along the way. i know times are not easy in this economy, however when families are working hard to pay his and his employees bills, we expect the same gratitude and service in the end. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Belda since 2011 and have generally had good hygenic and Dr./Patient interactions. I regularly visited the office 3 to 4 times per year, so probably upwards of over 45 appointments in 13 years. Good quality care and professional medical team. The practice is booming and they are booked out months in advance. I've had to start scheduling my appointments 9 months in advance to be able to stay in the rotation, oftentimes without really knowing the schedule or circumstances that far out. This dentist office is a big time practice - and every chair slot is valuable to the practice. So much so that the office recently adopted a strict rescheduling policy that charges patients for appointments, even when rescheduled for another date and time. They hid this "new policy" in a form they had patients sign along with updated medical records. This has not been an issue for me as I have not needed to reschedule anything. Recently, I had a family emergency and needed to reschedule my appointment. I called the day before and was informed "We will have to charge you a rescheduling penalty, because your family emergency didn't occur with 48 hours notice, not just a day's notice". They are charging customers the cost of a Dr. Appointment even if you need to reschedule it, regardless of reasons. FWIW, Dr. Belda's office has on two different occasions in 13 years rescheduled their appointments with me and I never asked them to pay me a rescheduling fee or expected any special consideration in return. The first time was because of a patient emergency that required Dr. Belda to reschedule several appointments that same day. A second time, Dr. Belda was feeling ill and canceled all appointments. "No worries", I thought. But when the table is turned and it is me rescheduling for a family matter, now it is unacceptable. I've been a patient of Dr. Belda for 13 years and this is how I got treated when I had a family emergency and had to reschedule. It's not the money that alarms me, it's the lack of appreciation for any one of their patient's lives. If you are ok with a dentist office that shows ZERO loyalty to their long-term patients, just focused on maximizing their dollars, and filling all their money making time slots, sadly this is the place that this office has become. I understand that this office is booked out months in advance so they feel entitled to value their own time more than that of their patients. Dr. Belda is a good dentist. However, he has recently raised his prices without warning by about 100%. I recently was surprised by a $511 cleaning and check up fee. This same procedure was well under $300 last year. No warning. He seems tired and maybe has too many patients. My guess is he is juicing up his practice profitability to get the best price when he retires and sells in a year or two. This is speculation but what else would drive such a good man to essentially screw his loyal patients? read more

Dr. Belda is a gem. Love him. One of the bests dentists I've had in my 48 years. Hygienists are great too! Unfortunately the front office staffers are neither gems nor great. Not sure when the staff changed, think it's been at least 3 or 4 years now, but it's never been the same. Every visit or phone call includes some version of, "no we can't or won't do that." I made two appointments by phone yesterday. One, a regular cleaning for my daughter, and the other was a request for extra time for my own cleaning (hygienist's recommendation each time I'm there). For my daughter's appointment at noon, in advance I let them know she finished virtual school 'at noon' but that we lived a stone's throw away so we'd be there no later than 12:10. I asked if that was ok. They accepted, "yes, no problem." We pulled up at 12:08, and the staff called wondering where she was. I replied, "in front of your office walking in." As I tried to find parking (unusually busy; had to park by Slaters) my daughter texted that they had to see me for paper work before she could go back. I filled everything out but it was 12:20 before she went back. Not a huge deal, but it's a small area to have folks waiting given COVID and I wish they'd sent the paperwork by email earlier for safety and efficiency. Again, not a big deal. Just a tip. As I checked my daughter in, they also wanted to remind me to, "make sure you're on time tomorrow for your appointment." Wow. Wasn't late today, but the tone was edgy and implied we were late. I ignored it and told them I'd be at my appointment on time but reminded them of the back-to-back cleaning *they suggested* since a) they had slots open one after another and b) the next availability wasn't until February! They retracted the former offer under the guise of miscommunication and I was told basically, "no." Before finding out if one of my two insurance plans they have in file would cover the second cleaning, or telling me what the out-of-pocket price for the additional cleaning would be (yes, I asked and was told, "that's not how appointments are made"), they doubled down on "no." Absolutely no effort was made to come up with a plan that got me two cleanings. They put more energy into trying to shame me in front my daughter, another patient (or a delivery guy I couldn't tell) and fellow employees about not being late next time than they did trying to make the practice money, and me happy in the process. They would rather lose an appointment all together than even try to accommodate my second cleaning. That day or a day in the future. I find them curt, unhelpful, and they've lost touch of the many choices customers have these days. Customer expectation has never been higher. My colleagues and I advise some of the largest brands in the world on the importance of customer loyalty and delighting customers with positive, memorable experiences. I should not feel I need to be on defense walking into my dentist's office. After 6 years as a patient, I won't be coming back. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Belda for the past 5 years, and I'm very pleased with how he runs his practice. He has a nice, clean office and there are always appointment time open that fit into my schedule. Dr. Belda himself is a very nice man. Every exam, he thoroughly checks your teeth and breaks down information for you about any complex procedures. He really spends a lot of time making sure his patients are in good health, which is rare to find in a dentist. The assistant always does a great job cleaning my teeth. However, on occasion some of the staff can be rude. For example, I went to get my teeth cleaned this week and I told the receptionist I had changed my insurance plan when I walked in. I sat in the waiting room while she talked on the phone with her friend about how her baby daddy wouldn't pay child support. 15 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start, she finally made me fill out all this paperwork for my new insurance. All in all, my appointment started about 30 minutes late. Luckily, I didn't schedule anything else that afternoon so it didn't disrupt my day, but it was annoying. Other than that, there's really nothing bad about the office. It's a great place to go for both adults and kids. read more

So far, so good!!! We just started seeing Dr. Belda this year and are very pleased with him, his work AND his honesty, which it seems is priceless in dentistry. My husband had a crown put on one of his front teeth, which he had been putting off until we found a good dentist. Dr. Belda did a great job!! He takes his job very seriously and has a great work ethic. My former dentist said I needed four crowns, Dr. Belda said I didn't need any work done. Thank goodness some dentists still have integrity. UPDATE (11/12/2012): I am continually impressed by Dr. Belda and so is my entire extended family. We all go to him now. He really is a genuinely nice man and a great dentist. I recently sent a coworker to him, who lives quite far from Dr. Belda's office, but I assured him it was worth the drive. I've been a patient of Dr. Belda for 20 years. He is amazing! He is caring and highly skilled. Whether it has been for a regular checkup, a filling, crown, bite guard (with my TMJ, I needed a set of very precisely fitting, durable guards), or repairing a chipped tooth, he is a "dental engineer" and a "dental artist." He takes his time and explains what he's doing, and his staff is supportive, too. He is also one of the few dentists in OC who offer nitrous oxide for procedures that don't require Novocain but still need some anesthetic. read more

Been seeing Dr. Belda for a few years and have had the best experience with the teeth cleaning technicians. I never knew my teeth could feel so good, clean and healthy. The new crown I received from Dr. Belda was a perfect fit, no drilling any other tooth to make it fit. I have had that happen several times with other dentists. And just last week he saved a tooth with a root canal by cementing it back in! His prices are reasonable, he's not over spending by having a big luxurious office, just the basic necessities. read more

If you like being treated like an idiot, then help yourself. Also, Dr. Belda is totally incompetent when it comes to working with children. His restoration work, i.e. crowns, leaves something to be desired (He replaced my porcelain crowns with porcelain-over-metal crowns without consulting me or giving me a choice. He said he considers the metal liner version a "superior restoration." First, the metal liner shows now when I smile and second, the porcelain color was not matched to my existing teeth - it is much whiter than my real teeth. The result? I am in mid-30s and my teeth now look like old lady teeth. Mismatched teeth and showing metal. 5/2014 UPDATE: The restoration work done by Dr. Belda (a crown) has failed, i.e. the porcelain separated from the metal. read more

After being being told at another dentist office that I needed a $2,500 deep gum cleaning & that I had two cavities, I wanted a second opinion. I came here & they told me I had beautiful teeth & that I don't even seem cavity prone. I've now been coming here for a little over two years, ever six months for a routine checkup. They have never tried to push any expensive treatment on me. They do a great job at cleaning my teeth! The best I've ever had. My dad, step-mom & brother come here. We all love it. Totally unethical and unprofessional. My two daughters, ages 15 and 16 have pretty serious gum problems. Several times there have been issues getting timely appointments. Today was the worst experience ever. We were there for teeth cleanings. It had been 5 months due to not being able to get a timely appointment at the 3 month mark. They bring my younger daughter out after 5 minutes and state "she has swollen and red gums and its really bad". They weren't going to clean her teeth however, because "she was only marked in for an orthodontist report". That's like saying "sorry sir you're having a heart attack but we can't help you. Good luck with that!" After they realized they screwed up they agreed to "squeeze in" two appointments we were already there for in the first place. They were done in 20 minutes and both daughters feel they got a half assed cleaning. After 9 years of going to this place we deserve better than this. read more
