Anyone reading this is probably under a lot of stress... dealing with the courts and legal system is not fun, nor a task for the faint at heart. Michael Norris came highly recommended from a friend, and I couldn't be happier that I went with that recommendation. He eased the stress and panic off me after our first meeting. Having a full time job, and little to no experience with the court system, this was not something I had the time for, nor wanted to deal with, AT ALL. Michael Norris was extremely professional and great to work with from the initial consultation, to the court dates over a year later, I was regularly updated with the status of my proceedings, and he really made a nerve-wracking situation as painless as it could possibly be. His staff was excellent, I was never left out of the loop, and was always able to reach his assistant, Allegra, with one phone call. I never once had to hear, "let me find out" or "let me look it up." It really seemed like everyone in his office was on the ball at all times. His demeanor in the court was also very re-assuring. I am, by no means, qualified to evaluate an attorney, but he constantly had me impressed with his knowledge of the law, and confidence. Also, it seemed like everyone knows and respects him in the courtroom. I think this goes a long way and is worth every penny. He yells you not to worry, let's get your situation resolved, meet me at my office. 2. You go. He tells you how awesome he is. Shows you the plaques, tells you about his kids, the kids he coached and? How awesome he is, again. 3. You buy into the hype. Be prepared to talk about money then. Be prepared to go to court and your case is extended, extended again and? You guessed it, extended again. He then offers you limited if any information as he presents the D.A's plea bargain offer. 3A. You don't buy in. You ask around, look up other lawyers, reviews, do your homework and find out that Mike is nothing more than a hack. A fraud. Nice suit, office on the pier he inherited and an absolutely laughable success record. He'll extend your case, spend more time in the courtroom shooting the chit with the D.A, Bailiffs and Judges then when the money is gone? Plea deal. "Besr offer your gonna get" he says. Stay away. I agree with the bulk of negative reviews already posted. My experience with Michael for my DUI was that he was all talk. Same for his DMV lawyer pal he referred me too for DMV hearing. I was also told no need to show up to court because he was representing me, and after reading Mikki's review, I regret that and I am not surprised by that account. I have been hesitant to leave a review for Michael on yelp, largely due to my embarrassment over having been arrested for a DUI, but seeing the reviews that describe him as an "empty suit", I think I need to weigh in. I was arrested at a DUI checkpoint in 2016. Like most people I was panicked and looked up lawyers on yelp. I found one that had all 5 star reviews and whose name started with an H. I met with H and he did a very good job of allaying my fears, but it was clear he was going to look to plead me out. I fully expected to be found guilty but I wanted someone who would advocate on my behalf, not just make a deal. In the mean time my wife happened to know a bail bonds woman in Redondo and she asked for a referral. The bail bonds woman said she would not hire anyone other than Michael Norris. When I met with Michael he told me he would handle everything. He gave me a flat fee and it was less than the 10k that others have mentioned. I also used the DMV attorney to whom he referred me and found him to be a strong advocate. Later on, I attended the 3 month DUI class. During this class I met numerous people who were arrested after me but had already plead guilty. I was blown away at how quickly others had plead out when my case was barely even getting started. The reason why was simple, Michael was challenging everything and that took time. After nearly a year of hearings being delayed or rescheduled the DA offered a deal. Michael advised me not to take the deal and advised me of some recent changes in the law that provided a potential path to dismissal. I pursued this path and to shorten an already long story, it proved to be an arduous process. At several points I wanted to give up but Michael encouraged me to persevere. At the end, after nearly 20 months the charges were dismissed. Michael never asked me for more money. This was not an easy process, It required a lot of work on my part, but it was worth it for the clean record at the end. Had I gone with another attorney, especially one of those with all the five star reviews on Yelp, I think the outcome would have been much different. read more

If you check your dictionary of the word "as*hole", you will find this man's picture. Apparently, the beautiful Redondo beach pier couldn't cure this guy's nasty attitude.  I met Mike Norris for a consultation and he was beyond rude. He didn't answer any of my questions, "You can hire me as your Attorny or you can figure it out by yourself, and don't bother me.", was basically the answer for every question I asked. He is unprofessional, condescending, judging; put me down the whole time, and made me feel like less than a person. The quote he gave me was more than 2 times higher than other attorneys gave me. He made it very clear he didn't want to work with me after he realized there's not much of a cake he can get from my case. I never felt this way after talked to a lawyer; like I did something wrong and needed to be humiliated. Of course Attorny should be resourceful and good at what they are doing. But I prefer a lawyer with a good attitude, easy to work with, respect their clients and show willing to represent your case any day.  My suggestion is do your homework and compare before you throw your money away, with a bonus of humiliation. read more

I have to say that thus far I'm pretty satisfied with Mikes competence as a criminal defense lawyer. I have heard his name as one of the south bays top five picks and so far so good. If I'm being completely honest my only two complaints r that he doesn't have a cell number he gives out in case of emergency and that he hasn't really gone over what our plan of action or defense is and I do have court tomorrow so I'm just going to hop on over and pay him a visit in person rattle his cage lol. The attorney and staff dropped the ball on many occasions with my DUI case. From telling me to show up to court when I didn't have to be there, to not getting the correct paperwork with the judge for a trustee program, to even telling me to meet with a probation officer when it was not needed. I was naïve and scared when I first went to Michael Norris' office about 3 years ago. He was welcoming and respectful. That has never changed. Hind sight, everything he said then I can say was with honesty. He allowed me to explain my situation without feeling judgement nor that he had any bias and most importantly he took the time to explain the law, the court process, what I could expect, and the cost (of which was worth every penny) and once we entered into contract, he's kept his word ever since. He has represented me in 2 separate cases and both had an outcome better than what I even expected. He is a brilliant man. He always made me feel welcomed to meet with him or ask him anything I was concerned with. I have never has one email, visit or call go unanswered the same day if not the same hour. HORRIBLE!!! He told us that there was no need to come to court as he would defend/represent us. After about the second hearing, I received an anonymous phone call from a court employee telling me that our attorney did not defend us. The next hearing date, I appeared and sat in the back of the courtroom and it was true! He did absolutely nothing and was shocked to see me as I approached him. If I could give this guy Micheal Norris a grade it would be a big fat F for FAILURE, this guy will sweet talk you into taking your case and like most people with bad reviews he will take your money by any means necessary LIES. I was 21yr old at the time when he took my brothers case he told me he had never lost a case and it was going to take 15k to fight for my brother he was looking at attempted murder. By the time it was all over almost a year later and 15k more a total of 30k we lost the case my brother got life in prison and right before the case was over he tried to pon me off because I had nothing left no money, I was told by the same lawyer he had me visit that he couldn't walk out on me and had to continue we my case, he never gave me receipts only FALSE HOPE. 22 years later and this guy is still working I believe it was criminal what he did to me and my family and I hope no one will ever have to experience the hurt Micheal Norris put my family through. read more

I was facing 3 felonies from the State of California CDCR for prefabricated testimony. I was so stressed I plead guilty to a misdeameaor charge that was not warranted but needed the process to be finalized and end. My goal was no jail time, no felony and least resistant direction. Although Mr. Norris was willing to continue to defend me in any direction I chose to take, I decided this was my best option I didn't have any more $$ so I did not want to end up in the poor man's prison. I ended up with a misdemeanor charge, 3 years probation that was dismissed as served because of no incidence in year 1 probation and a fine of $750 dollars and the election to have my record expunged. If I could put 0 stars I would. This is the worst lawyer ever, for criminal defense as far as I can say. He's all friendly at first until he gets his first "fair share" 5g I paid and then he completely changes if he thinks he can't get far in a case unless you give him more money for each appearance in court. It wasn't my choice to reschedule each preliminary literally like 5 times he'd even asked to change it too instead of proceeding and that was the first time he came like and hour late. I seriously thought this "a" hole accurate description wasn't going to come. I tried to help him out by giving him as much information as possible to help him with my friends case and it didn't even seem like he was trying to make it work like he was already saying that my friend was going to get life in prison! He was pretty much saying everything the victims had accused my friend of was true he didn't even bother to read much of the paper work that was gathered up to make a case just what his charges were. This man is very arrogant and if you say he hasn't done much and omg which he didn't for us he will snap at you and humiliate you, and yes he likes to condescend and makes you feel like you've committed a crime as well.
