After researching several photographers, we met with Steve Garrett after a friend recommended him. Immediately I could tell that Steve would be a perfect fit for us. He's a really nice guy, and he just put us at ease when we met him. I reviewed some of his portfolio, and I really liked what I saw. We decided to hire him. Our wedding was beautiful, and Steve shot us throughout the day, along with an assistant. Both photographers were polite, kind, enthusiastic, and outgoing. In the morning, they shot the bridal party before the ceremony, as we got ready. It's hard to put into words...they were fun to be around, but much of the time, we felt that they did a great job of letting the day unfold without us feeling like there was a camera right there. They got some great shots of everyone together, posed pictures, but a lot of candid shots that truly make me relive the day in my memory. Since it was November, he got great shots using the color of the fall leaves. I loved those photos most, because they are beautifully shot, and allow me to remember the feelings I had, on the morning of my wedding day. Then were the ceremony and reception shots, which were all pretty fantastic. One thing I really liked about having two photographers was that sometimes, they would each do their own thing, taking shots of the different guests there, the food, etc. But then, sometimes they would take shots together, each from a different angle. I thought that was really cool, because sometimes, the subjects would not be looking directly at the camera. All in all, I would (and have) recommend Steve and his team at All About Amore if you're looking for a wedding photographer. If you want quality photos, and a photographer(s) who will take the kind of photos that YOU envision, then give Steve a call. You won't be disappointed.

Long story short, my now-husband and I had to find a new photographer one month before our wedding. Needless to say, I was panicking, but thankfully Mike had our day open and not only that, he went above and beyond in that month to make us feel comfortable with him for the big day by insisting on meeting in person multiple times and scheduling a casual photoshoot so we could get used to his direction and working together. It's Mike's professionalism and warmth that really stood out and impressed me. He's never late, had a great second shooter, and is very responsive to phone and email. Of course his photos are crazy, crazy beautiful and I am SO glad we found him (through Yelp too if I may add)! On the day of the wedding, I didn't notice him in our faces at all. Choosing Steven as a wedding photographer was a necessity to my husband because of the following…read morestory: About 15 years ago my husband was broke and working as a pizza delivery guy. One day he chose to bike to his bank to cash his paycheck and get cash necessary for payment of bills for the month. Somewhere along the way he lost his wallet, containing about $900...all the money he had in the world at the time...all his money to pay rent, bills, etc. Upon return to his apartment he noticed the loss and began to fret uncontrollably, went back to retrace his steps, etc. Later in the day he received a phone call from Steven saying he'd found his wallet and letting him know where he could pick it up - it was but a few blocks away. When he met Steven and retrieved his wallet (all the cash inside) he was incredibly grateful saying "You have NO idea what this means to me. If there's ANYTHING I can ever do for you, please let me know". Steven replied "Well, I've started this wedding photography business, so if you ever get married I hope you'll hire me." "Done." my husband replies. Fast forward to the planning of our wedding. He shares this story with me and shows me the website...turns out Steven has become some sort of world-renowned wedding photographer, fetching as much as $15K per event and all expenses paid to weddings overseas. We discuss the price and my husband impresses upon me how much Steven's gesture meant to him...the price is not an object in this case. OK...it's his parents $ after all...who am I to argue? Steven remembers my husband and is SO touched about having been remembered himself he offers to shoot the wedding for $8K when we express concern over his price. Steven is a GREAT guy. VERY down-to-earth, personable and fun. The services he offers and his quality of work leave a lot to be desired in my mind, however. He shoots film only...and only in black-and-white (at least this was the case 4 years ago). As a former student of photography, I understand the appeal in the purity of this as an art form. In retrospect, I don't appreciate it as a service to document an important event. Our photos were dark, muddy and boring. Of the few hundred proofs we were given to review (for a short time online and as hard-copy proof sheets) I had a hard me picking any that I felt compelled to spend the egregious amount of $ he wanted for full prints (some of my favorite pics of our wedding were taken by friends and by the disposable cameras we placed on the tables at the reception). No digital option was offered. As a photo-hoarder (5000+ pics posted to Flickr) this really pissed me off...especially for the amount of $ he charges just to shoot the event. Since our wedding, several of our friends have wed, all of them spent less than half what we spent, and all of them got both BW and color as well as a digital package option, and their photos are FANTASTIC. I understand and respect that my husband had a pact to keep with Steven, but were it not for that, I would have been infinitely happier with another photographer.

I love our wedding photos - but they were done by Chris Guillen (who we found and booked through…read moreRLW), so just call him if you're looking for a photographer. His business is listed separately as Chris Guillen Photography. He was fantastic - got so many great shots but wasn't intrusive - we honestly really enjoyed having him there. I still look at the photos from that day and feel like I'm there all over again. Steven Gross, on the other hand, was prickly, pushy, and at times downright rude. For some reason, every time I spoke with him after the wedding, he repeatedly mentioned a mildly embarrassing event that happened there (and I'm not sure why, since he wasn't even there and it wasn't that big a deal - though frankly, it was tiring that he kept bringing it up). I admit - it took us a long time to get around to choosing the photos for our album (2+ years) - but we had paid our (enormous) bill on time so he had our money, and part of the package we'd paid for was the album. When we added more photos than our package covered, we ended up incurring a cost of nearly $1000 for about 25 additional photos (another reason to go with a photographer who will give you rights to the digital photos - RLW won't and you pay through the nose for every print). Once I'd ordered the album, I got no confirmation or ETA - until a couple weeks later when I got a sharply worded email from Steven that I hadn't paid for the extra photos. Ummm, well, neither he nor his assistant had ever asked me to - and you'd think we hadn't already paid him (on time) for thousands of dollars for the photography already. I authorized him to charge 50% of the amount due since I wanted to see the album and pay the balance when I picked it up. When I did pick it up, just a couple weeks after it came back from the book binder, it was beautiful - thanks to his wonderful assistant, Erin, who worked on the design and ordering of the entire thing. And what do I find but that Steven had already charged me for the balance. Maybe he is short on cash but that's no excuse to be rude to clients - especially since we always paid on time. Next time I want to drop serious coin for beautiful pictures, I'll choose someone who isn't such a prima donna. Actually, I'll call Chris Guillen myself and leave RLW out of it entirely. They added no value - just headaches and extra costs.

I can't believe I'm the first one to give Rolando a Yelp review! (Whoever is reading this shouldn't…read morebe discouraged from the lack of Yelp reviews. As a bride, I know minimum reviews or a small portfolio may keep you from reaching out to a photographer or videographer, but I'm so glad that we found Rolando! I can gush forever about his photography skills which are amazing! I did a lot of research before stumbling upon Rolando's Wedding Wire reviews (http://www.weddingwire.com/biz/andrade-photography-naperville/3db700ec6787445d.html) then I checked out his blog (http://www.photographybyandrade.com/blog) and then my (now) husband and I met Rolando at a Starbucks for an introductory meeting. Spoiler alert: we booked on-the-spot. Rolando offered a great package at a competitive price. We booked about 7 months in advance. Throughout the months leading up to the wedding, Rolando would reach out to us from time-to-time to check in, and asked us about our photo style, asked us to make a list of specific moments we wanted him to capture (we actually never did the list), and yet I can't think of any moments that Rolando may have missed. He was always accessible via email, phone or text. Our package included an engagement session, which was so much fun, despite the freezing weather, and afterwards, we felt even more reassured that we made the right choice in picking Rolando because he was so passionate and creative about his photography, professional, and down-to-earth. The day of the wedding, Rolando arrived at least 30 minutes earlier than he said he would, and his helper, the second photographer, also arrived early at the groom's house. Rolando was so flexible with all the events throughout the day. (He walked with me and my caravan family to church (about a 10-minute walk in a residential area), hauling his equipment in a suitcase and capturing photos along the way --(something our videographer, separate company, wasn't willing to do). He also joined us in the party bus, then photos at the park, and stayed until like 10:30 PM, (or later?) at the hall. (Rolando had agreed to stay until we said it was okay to leave, or at least until all the traditional events had taken place such as the garter toss, bouquet toss, etc.) If you're still looking for a photographer, you should just call Rolando now and pray that he's not booked yet. We had the pleasure of working with Paul Connolley to take our engagement photos, the reason I went to him is because his portfolio looked absolutely stunning Paul is fun-loving, enthusiastic, patient, and most importantly a great photographer that has a talent to capture the emotions of the wedding. Paul's enthusiasm on our wedding day was real and his love of photography could be shown through his work. I keep saying he was the shining star of our night. We can't stop looking at our photos and have gotten so many wonderful compliments from our friends and family (my mother cries every time she looks at them). Every one raves about how "they should be in a magazine. One of my photographer friends called him "the candid shot master"". We are so happy Paul was our photographer his photo-journalistic style is just what we were looking for "our wedding pictures are a work of art" Paul has the creativity that anyone could ask for, but he also brings a lot of other things to the table. He's super friendly, had great and useful tips throughout our wedding day, and kept everything upbeat and on schedule. :) I wouldn't have trusted anyone else! We absolutely loved working with him and Jenna Shattuck his partner; Jenna was so cool and delivered incredible pictures of my husband and his entourage getting ready and waiting for the wedding to start. She captured with great ease the moments leading to our wedding, the anticipation and nervous vive as well as laughter and guy time they shared. I also loved that within weeks of my wedding, I could see all my photos online, and my friends and family could view them and easily order any print they wanted. I strongly recommend Paul David Photography as a wonderful combination of quality photography and professional considerate charm. He has an amazing ability to not only capture the details of our wedding day, but more importantly, the people and the emotions everyone is experiencing in the moment.
