I am VERY shy in front of a camera and was terrified to meet strangers and have them take engagement pictures of me in downtown Chicago. Within minutes of meeting Amanda and Jacob, you become instantly comfortable with them. They instantly become everything you need- a coach, a director, a comedian, and an overall HYPE team. I was laughing so much during the shoot that I ended up shaking all nerves and having a fun time. The best part of that is that they captured so many candid moments, which are so fun to look back on. Cut to the wedding day, I was so overwhelmed that morning. Having Jacob and Amanda (of course with giant smiles on) show up was like a wave of calmness on the big day. After getting in touch, we were able to set up an engagement photo shoot in a week's time. Even though it was last minute, Erika was able to accommodate us on a very cold morning in Milton Lee Olive Park - not a single complaint from her! There was a great mix of nature shots, intimate shots, and cityscape. She had great ideas for how to get exceptional photos, and entertained some of our bad ones (you can tell the difference when you see the album). For the wedding, Erika and her husband/second shooter did a great job both finding a venue for our first-look photos as well as organizing all of the after-ceremony photos. She was professional and made sure that everything ran smoothly. One of our biggest concerns was that whichever photographer we chose would be a focal point ("in the way") during the ceremony and reception. Not only did Erika listen to our concerns, but we BARELY noticed her during the events. If this impacted the kinds of photos she was able to take, we cannot notice. They are all phenomenal. I learned that just because someone is a photographer doesn't mean they do weddings. I checked into several photographers and did thorough research. When I called Artlynn, I spoke to Jeff. He was professional, helpful and very friendly. I had many questions and he answered them all. He encouraged me to come into the studio to look at their work in person. So, I came in the next day (conveniently located) and was absolutely wowed by the photo work displayed in the studio along with the photo albums I got to look at. The pictures are clear, so much so, I felt like I was actually there in the scene. Now, that's talent. The pictures online don't do them enough justice, definitely go pay them a visit. When my fiancee was available, he came to see the photos for himself. Like me, he was impressed. Jeff once again was friendly and took time with us along with being very accommodating which we appreciated. We were glad our wedding date was available as it is a popular date. We are also relieved because Artlynn has done photography at our wedding venue many many times so they are familiar with the place which we know will be to our advantage.
