We were able to buy a gift certificate directly from him a the Groupon price. I recommend giving him a call and asking about the deal he'll offer -- BUY LOCAL!!! First I have to say...Laird is very talented, loves what he does and you can tell. He's friendly and straight to the point when giving instructions. I highly recommend a visit to his cute little shop. When you walk in, his artwork is everywhere! From jewelry to glass creations and amazing stained glass art -- this is a great unique place to shop for gifts. He offers many different classes as well. Grab some of your girlfriends (or guy friends!!) and try one of his very reasonably priced classes. Parking is in a lot next to the building (off street parking). I bought a certificate for two to try the mosaic class. It is offered on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 6 pm. I dragged my boyfriend along to get him to try something out of his comfort zone, and he enjoyed this first time experience. For the mosaic class we were given a nice size square "stone." Laird gave us some instructions and showed us where to pick our glass pieces that we were going to use. If taking this class, have something in mind BEFORE you show up as he leaves the design entirely up to you. He did show us a couple of examples of his work, but there was no way either one of us could stand up to his talent!! I felt like I took a little time trying to decide what design I wanted to do. No worries, I came up with a kind of "wave" idea and went with that. He has some really cool color glass and I already have an idea of what I would do on my next visit :) Just a tip: For those of you with longer nails, the tiny glass pieces can be challenging to pick up and place!! But I managed.... This class was fun and I highly recommend a visit/class!!

This was our 8th trip to a glass studio, and the first at Warner. Although we had experience, we were not able to do many of the tasks ourselves, gather the glass, add color to the glass, shape the glass, reheat the glass, etc. The instructor was always holding the pole and actively doing the tasks with us, not instructing us on the steps. We felt like her assistant, not the primary artist. The glass studio felt very rigid, my husband wasn't even allowed to be with me when I was working, he should have been blowing while I was shaping, he was merely watching from the chair area. We did make nice pieces, but they really weren't all ours. This probably is a good experience if you have never touched glass. If you have any experience and want to actually do your own piece, go somewhere else! We expressed our concerns after the experience and was told "not to come back". By the guy at the front desk. That's really unprofessional. I would not recommend.

We first walked into the shop area and saw an instructor holding a class with a gentleman as his wife looked on. At first we felt like we were intruding, but the instructor invited us to sit down and watch his student make a glass pumpkin. My kids were in awe of all the tools, ovens and equipment inside the room. It's not a huge space, but they certainly make the most of it. It was also the perfect toasty place to take a break on a chilly spring morning! We met Etta when we walked through the shop into the gallery. She was loaded with information about the shop, pieces in the gallery and the area. I'm pretty sure she told me at one time the building was a machine/tool shop. Walking through the gallery, we were amazed at some of the items for sale. I think some of the fish were my favorite. We took some time to walk in the back gallery areas, chatted with Etta and eventually met the owner Will. They showed us some of the lighting they make for businesses and homes and invited us to book a class. They advertise a class at $90 for an hour and you can make everything from paperweights, flowers, hearts, pumpkins to a stemless wine glass. The bigger items for sale can be pricey, but their smaller pieces are a great buy. I ended up buying a couple of beautiful hummingbirds. You can definitely find a unique and creative gift here for a loved one, friend or yourself! A class is a great gift idea too :) ..... A return visit will happen if I'm in the area again. Thanks so much guys for a five star experience!!!

I visited the Goggleworks website (www.goggleworks.org) and was impressed with the options available. Via email, I inquired with my questions and was answered immediately. We ultimately chose a private glassblowing session. Remember when you are choosing to partake in these artisanal sessions, you are paying for the artisan's expertise and sharing of knowledge . So at first glance, it may seem pricey. However, given the experience as a whole, it does NOT disappoint! Our instructor Andrew was awesome! His energy and passion matched our excitement. He made our experience so much more fun with his anecdotes about the glassblowing. He explained everything in detail; we never felt rushed or uncomfortable about our skill level. There were four of us in our glassblowing session. He expertly guided us in the best artisan experience I have ever had. For our glassblowing class, we all chose to make drinking glasses. Each of us chose different color palettes to match our varying personalities. Of course, due to the nature of glassblowing, it was a very HOT experience but we were dressed accordingly and hydrated throughout. After we each had our turn, our glasses were immediately placed in a temperature-controlled device (I can't remember its name) to slowly cool the glass down and prevent cracking. We were not permitted to take the glasses home but rather had to come back another day to pick them up. After our session, we headed back to the main Goggleworks building to check out the art exhibits, gift store, and (what I'll call) the artist alley of artisans' work spaces and offices. We spent lots of time enjoying the space and speaking with varying artists. Turns out that the space is a former goggles factory that was used back in the 1800s and the space takes great care in preserving its history. It's soooo cool. It was truly enjoyable!! I highly recommend Goggleworks! This is one of my most memorable experiences!! I can't wait to see our glasses. Note: We arrived early to have breakfast at the onsite cafe, Thorn Alley Kitchen (see separate Yelp review for more details).
