we hired him to paint the inside of our house 1900 ft.² and he charged us almost $20,000. He quit the job before he finished. He never came and did the touchups like he said he was gonna do and I'm finding places all over the house where he just didn't paint like windowsills cabinets that he said he paint inside the closet. It was very frustrating. He was also going to paint our stairs and couldn't figure it out and I paid him 98% of what we owed him and he said he was coming back and then he told me he'd only come back if we paid him more. very disappointing and he slept at our house without our permission for weeks when I told him no more sleeping over that's when he quit and wanted to charge us more because he had to drive to and from the job, which was ridiculous cause him staying at our beach house was never part of the price. very passive aggressive and dishonest read more

We hired Michael to do a repaint of our newly purchased home, instead of the higher priced painter our general contractor recommended. I'm sorry that we did. Yes, we saved a bit of money on the front side, but we sacrificed quality of work, final finishing, and any touch ups. Let's be clear. Michael agreed, as part of our contract, to do touch ups after our contractor was done. He did not. Months later, phone calls and emails have not been returned, our cabinets have not been finished, door frames in one room remain completely untouched, and there is still blue tape marking several places that need to be fixed. He came to my house fully dressed ready to go just like a professional paint contractor showed he had the right equipment in the right tools to take care the problem that I needed. Hey fellow home owners, always do your homework when it comes to having anyone work on your house, even your painter! I searched all over yelp and cross referenced with CSLB (contractors state license board). Yes, it will be more expensive to use someone with a proper license, insurance and workers comp insurance. BUT IT IS WORTH IT! We bought an older home that needed a lot of work. I found 3 painters in the area that had all the proper legal stuff. I chose him not because he was the cheapest (he was the middle of the three) but because he was responsive and easy to communicate with. He has now done 4 separate projects with us since May 2016 including paint, patching, removal of popcorn ceiling, and wall paper removal. He is very punctual and easy to work with. His prices are fair. I always communicate with him via text/phone call. AND he and his guys are very careful with our belongings and they clean up after themselves everyday! I just finished my third job with Mike. The first job was medium, the second job was small and this last job was big. Mike and his team painted the entire interior of my two story home including ceilings. I have been very happy with Mike on all three projects. The quality of work is great, his prices are reasonable and Mike is a cool dude! At the beginning of the project Mike painted different samples in multiple rooms to make sure we got the exact color we wanted. During the last job I had contractors doing work while Mike's team was painting. It definitely made it challenging for Mike's crew, but Mike was really cool and understanding about getting the job done timely even though we kept on throwing road blocks at him. Saddened to amend my initial review. Michael was initially great to work with, but once I paid 50% of the job fee upfront, (a larger deposit than he requested) the experience began to change. Ultimately, he agreed to return after the initial job was done, to perform touch ups after our contractors had finished their work. Once the initial painting was finished, he simply stopped returning my calls, e-mails or texts all together. He breached his verbal agreement to return and perform touch ups, and he completely missed several doors in our new master suite that were supposed to be painted. Our kitchen cabinets have numerous sloppy areas on them, as well as spots I will have to touch up myself. Yes, he threw in some freebies, and was friendly initially, and that was much appreciated. Nothing however, makes up for failing to preform the job as agreed. He raised his voice at me on several occasions, once in front of my wife, this surprisingly after I had discussed a complete exterior re-paint with him this coming spring. Needless to say, we'll be looking elsewhere for that work. I was a faux finish painter for years, and understand this is a service industry, based upon reputation and customer experience.
