The large gift shop had a lot to choose from at different prices. We came for the Wine Down event happening right in front of the Delray Affair in April. Wine, beer & soft drinks were available for purchase & I got to unwind & explore the exhibits. The WineDown will be open Friday & Saturday from 12-6 PM and Sunday from 12-5 PM. Proceeds benefit the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce & the Cornell Museum.

Last week, everything came together and we were finally able to stop by the museum after a nearby lunch. The museum is located on the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Swinton. We've passed by many time going east on the avenue. There is metered parking on the side streets. The museum is in the hundred year old plus Delray School House. We entered and were greeted by the docent/volunteer. She told us a little about the building's history and which classrooms were originally located where before the remodeling was done. She also told us that they have no permanent exhibits, and that all the art work in the building was for sale. If you were interested in buying something, you should inquire about the price of the piece in the museum store. The first floor was occupied with works by the American artist, Dorothy Gillespie. Although she was a painter, she also worked in many different media. She was well known for her creative, colorful metal works of art. One quote compares her level of metal craft and skill as equal to Chihuly and his glassworks. On the second floor -- yes, there is a big staircase, but we took the elevator from inside the gift shop/store -- are works by Chilean-born Gustavo Novoa. Approximately 30 paintings show colorful, luxurious jungle scenes with animals. The volunteer said his art reminded her of the lushness of Gauguin's paintings. On second floor, there is also an exhibit of mosaics from a Mexican school. They are portraits of famous people -- actors, singers, etc. You will recognize most of them. The tiny pieces are put together in intricate patterns to form the faces. In some of them, they incorporate other materials -- like a piece of jewelry as a broach, leather as clothing, etc. They are fascinating to view up close first and then step back to see the overall portrait. The exhibits rotate periodically. The museum entrance is free, but there is a suggested donation of $5 per person which we happily paid. I'm glad we finally got a chance to visit.

We had such a fun time at the Cox Science Center and Aquarium in Palm Beach! There was so much to…read moresee and do, and it was a great experience for the whole family. The dinosaur exhibit outside was such a cool experience, especially seeing the different species, including some we had never even heard of before! The life size replicas were really impressive and made the experience even more fun. The shark tooth sandpit was another cool thing and if you find a tooth it's yours to keep!!. The LEGO exhibit was also fantastic. It's amazing to see how much time, creativity, and work goes into creating those incredible sculptures! There was some construction going on during our visit, but there was still tons to explore. Inside, there were lots of cool science exhibits and interactive things to check out. We didn't bring our bathing suits, but there's also a splash pad, which would be perfect for cooling off on a hot Florida day. We'll definitely be back, and we can't wait to see the expansion once it's completed! We're especially hoping to see even more science exhibits added. Definitely a fun place to spend the day and learn something new along the way!

On this visit, we came to see the BRICK PLANET LEGO® brick exhibition (May 17-September 27), and it was absolutely incredible! The displays were stunning, with so many tiny details that both kids and adults could admire for a long time. Funny enough, this visit wasn't even planned. We originally spent the morning at The Breakers, but the children's play area was under renovation, so we had to quickly find something nearby before the rain started. We remembered our favorite museum, and it turned out to be the perfect backup plan. By the time we arrived, a heavy Florida downpour had started. We got a little soaked running inside, but it was completely worth it--we ended up spending almost the entire day there and had a hard time convincing the kids it was finally time to go home! The LEGO exhibition was amazing, and my girls especially loved the interactive building stations where they could create their own designs. After that, they spent a long time exploring the hands-on science exhibits with magnets, liquids, and other fascinating experiments. One of their favorites was building sculptures from colorful flexible rods, and of course they couldn't leave without visiting the Ball Factory, which has recently been updated and is now one of their favorite areas in the museum. There is also a wonderful playroom for younger children, although my older kids still enjoy it every time we visit. Once the rain stopped, we headed outside to explore the museum grounds. They have updated many of the outdoor exhibits since our last visit. Previously there were dinosaur displays, and inside the museum there was a fun detective-themed exhibition with puzzles, secret codes, and interactive challenges. This time we found Ice Age animals, including a giant saber-toothed tiger and a mammoth, along with several other impressive sculptures. Outside you'll also find a splash pad, giant acoustic dishes that let kids talk to each other from surprisingly long distances, food trucks, ice cream vendors, drinking fountains, and plenty of space to explore. The museum is always clean, the staff is friendly, and there is truly something for every age. Whether your kids love science, LEGO, hands-on experiments, or simply discovering new things, this is a fantastic place to spend the day. Highly recommend for families visiting or living in South Florida!

This PBS Immersive Space is presented by the Klorfine Foundation, and overall it was a unique and…read morethoughtfully curated experience. The immersive theater was definitely the highlight with cushioned seating throughout and even a boat installation in the center, which added a creative and symbolic touch. The memorial wall was also very impactful and gave the experience a deeper, reflective element. There was a VR headshot session available, which lasted about 5-8 minutes. It was a fun addition, though I wish it had been a bit longer or more interactive. Guests were offered complimentary red and white wine as well as prosecco, which elevated the atmosphere and made it feel like a well-rounded event. The gift shop also had a nice selection of souvenirs to take home. One suggestion for improvement would be the audio experience, having headphones or individual audio pods would make it much easier to fully engage and immerse in the content without outside distractions. Some things I learned: -Moon haze and calm sea made it difficult to see ice bergs. -On the fourth day the ship encountered ice. -Safety of life at sea convention SOLAS in 1914 Goal to increase ship safety and disaster survivability. -Turkish bathe heated pool and Persian cafe for 1st class.

We arrived a little early and were directed into a small 360 degrees room which displayed an intro to the main event on a short loop. Our next stop was another room where we gathered and watched a short video about PBS. We then walked into the main event which was a very large 360 degrees room with bench like seating. As the film played, we were surrounded by music, colorful pictures and scenery of ancient egypt. There were smaller screens summarizing in writing each segment we were watching. In yet another room , we were told there were virtual reality viewers however they were not working that day so it was a bit of a disappointment. There was also a small gift shop and picture taking area. It was not exactly what we were expecting but it was very well done and very educational. I would recommend the experience to others.

If you have patience and a good vocabulary, you will benefit from the tour guide's explanation of what they have and learn a lot. Small children may not have the patience or language ability to grasp what they are being told. The museum is located in a store front inside the Wellington Mall. It is not far from the food court and near to the Penny's Department store. You will find it by walking down the small corridor. There is an admission for adults and for children. They do give a veteran's discount on tickets. And we did tip the tour guide, as a courtesy, as well. They do have a small play area with a movie on a monitor that kids might like. Plus they can "pet" a dinosaur and enjoy all the models and pictures -- plus the museum store has some interesting items for kids. If you do take the tour, you will learn a lot about the dinosaur they have there -- nicknamed "Cheryl". Some parts are actual fossils and some parts have been recreated. And you will also learn about the relative sizes of various animals and other dinosaurs -- As well as a bit of history and science along the way. I'm glad we went.

Nicknamed the "Greatest Show under the Sun" this is one of the largest arts & craft festival in the Southeast with over 500 vendors, food options & official merchandise for sale too. It was a very very crowded day here. I'm amazed we found free street parking a block away. I wore my Delray Affair shirt from previous years. We arrived at 1:00 and found metered parking off Atlantic Ave. Happily the app was changed for the weekend so we could stay here all day. Shuttle bus & free golf cart transport was available for the weekend. We walked along 7 blocks of palm tree lined streets in downtown Delray Beach. The Delray Affair has received numerous awards for its 'eclectic' mixture of art, great crafts & funky products from around the world. Artists & crafters from all around the country exhibit here.

It was one long street filled with artwork and vendors. I think event reached the beach. I could not walk that far. I had such a good time here. I am doing it again next year. They had so many food vendors and it smelled so good. They were located betweenthe streets. I ended up getting some kettle corn. I could not resist. They also had many restaurants located next to the event to choose from. The event is free and it's three days long. It is very well organized. Finding a public bathroom was an adventure. There are parking spots near the event and a garage. The city also provided a shuttle that came every thirty minutes.

The Art Palm Beach Annual Exhibition is a prestigious modern and contemporary art show launched in…read more1997 by IFAE/ Next Level founders David and Lee Am Lester. The Lester's also founded Art Miami, Art Asia Hong Kong, American International Fine Art Fair and Art Boca Raton. The show was acquired by the Palm Beach Show Group in 2022 who also puts on the LA Art Show. Art Palm Beach is the largest and longest mid winter art fair in the Palm Beaches. This art show is dedicated to exhibiting the contemporary, emerging and modern masterworks of 20th and 21st century art. Seventy-six national and International galleries showcased their work for sale. There were also several art museums presenting at the show including the Boca Raton Museum of Art, MOCCA (Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas), and the Danubiana Museum of Art in Bratislava, Slovakia. Art mediums included photography, painting, design, fine art glass, metal, gems, sculpture, and video. Displayed in front of the convention center was Ominka by artist Viktor Freso. The large, inflated bear was covered in blue brooch's inspired by a sentimental costume brooch purchased by artist Viktor Freso's grandmother in 1964 in the United States when she was pursuing a singing career and then taken back to Slovakia. Another stand out art piece was Project Eternal Light from the Reflectspace Gallery displayed in its own area as soon as you walked in to the event. Artist Han Ho's nine lighted panels depicts an apocalyptic end of the world for humanity and was inspired by Michelangelo's Last Supper. A featured exhibition was Big Birk, a 19 foot high, 16 foot long Birkin Bag. It is billed as the world's largest Hermes, Birkin Bag. One of my favorite pieces was the interactive Breakfast by Sydney Warming Sea. Software, a camera, and a computer flips foil on discs into your image when you stand in front of it. There was so much other eye catching art. I especially enjoyed anything featuring animals, light, or kinetic movement. Tickets to this show were $35 but if you follow the galleries on Instagram before the show, some of them give out free tickets. If you pay extra for the VIP tickets there was a private lounge in the center of the convention floor. There was also a Friday night gala for an additional price. During the show there was food and drinks for sale. Parking was offered in the convention center garage for $5 for two hours. Allow a few hours to see everything. There was ample seating on the convention floor in between galleries. This was my first time attending this event and I loved everything about it.

This is supposed to be one of the most prestigious winter art fairs of its kind. The 2020 one is…read morethe 23rd one they've held. And I'd never heard of it! We were lucky enough to be invited as guests of our friends who it seems have gone for years. We met them at the convention center (there's easy parking in the attached garage or you can valet park). Some 85 international galleries had exhibits of all mediums of art. It was like going to a very upscale museum. There was no set traffic pattern here. You could wander in and out of the exhibits as you wished. You could spend as much time as you wanted admiring what you liked. Many items had prices on them. Some were priced "on request". In the middle of the exhibit was a coffee shop/snack bar where you could sit and rest and have a bite. I especially liked some of the kinetic sculptures, the Chihuly glass, and the big "moon" installation. Our friends were drawn to some of the paintings. Such creativity using various methods and mediums -- like an eagle that was made of buttons strung on filament. Or the heart shaped sculpture made out of paint and paint brushes. A number of palm beachers were here to see and be seen. Their outfits were equally as attractive and interesting as the artwork. If you like art, even if you're not in the high rollers league to be a buyer, come here at least to browse. It's a great show!

However, several of the didactic panels (the posted wall text) had spelling errors - which is incredibly unprofessional. Misspelling Captain Smith's name was not only disrespectful but a bit dumbfounding as that's the simplest last name to spell. For such a large exhibit from a well known production as Fever, I'd expect proper editing - but this is now the third event of theirs that has had this issue. I also found the AI generated images unnecessary and vastly disappointing. I'd also suggest supplying more employees/security as I've seen at other events as there were many people touching things clearly labeled not to be touched. This is how things get broken and/or ruined for other visitors. What we did enjoy: the passenger cards handed out to every patron, the simulations for the Bridge and lifeboat room, the amount of information provided via wall text and audio, the dedication to passengers and crew at the end, and the gift shop had a nice selection.

Anyone who knows me knows I love history. But the best part of Titanic: An Immersive Voyage wasn't…read morethe VR or the artifacts... it was the boarding pass. At the entrance, you're assigned the identity of a real passenger and follow their story throughout the experience. Mine was Mariyam Asaaf Khalil, a 45-year-old Syrian woman returning to Toronto after visiting her sons. Along the way, you explore authentic photographs and artifacts, see props from the film, learn how the ship was built, take a virtual submarine dive to the wreck site, and sit in a lifeboat as the final hours unfold around you. We spent an embarrassing amount of time creating AI portraits of ourselves as Titanic passengers... and it was worth every minute. Fun time, but I couldn't shake the melancholy. No matter how familiar the story is, it still hits hard: the lives lost, the class divide, the passengers who never had a fair chance, and the painful reality that so many more people could have been saved. At the very end of the experience, you walk past a memorial wall where you look up your passenger's name to learn their fate. Marianna survived

This year was the 25th annual Downtown Delray Beach Craft Festival. They close off the street and…read morehold it on 4th Ave. and Atlantic Ave. I found free parking a block away at the IPIC garage. The event is held over a weekend on both Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 4. This was my first year attending and I was impressed by how large the festival was. Over 150 vendors from all over Florida and the country lined two full streets selling art, garden decorations, home decor, pet items, beauty items, and food. I definitely saw some cool things I've never seen before. I ended up by buying a bromeliad with orchids to hang on my front porch, a wooden Great Blue Heron and egret for my garden, glass earrings and a heart necklace, and a plumeria plant that is just a stick right now but hopefully in 6 months it will be blooming with beautiful flowers. I also found some pretty ornaments for Christmas presents. I could have spent a lot more money if I had it. The vendors were many and varied. I can see why this festival has lasted so long. There are also a ton of restaurants to eat at and places to shop within walking distance of the festival. I couldn't leave the area without popping into Proper Ice Cream for my favorite honeycomb flavor. The weather was delightful for a divine day of shopping. It was a perfect Sunday afternoon.
