Founded in 1870, Wally Findlay Galleries International is an art gallery. The association deals in art enrichment, instruction and exhibition. It offers a full range of artwork that includes drawing, painting, pastel work, photography, ceramics and sculptures. It operates a painting institute that offers summer classes to adults and children. The organization also provides scholarships and fine arts education programs. Its exhibitions offer paintings of various artists, including Sam Barber, Luc Didier, Gustavo Novoa, Elya Peker, Hope Reis, Michael Allen Lowe, Charles Neal and Lillia Frantin. The association conducts various festivals, events and shows. Additionally, it provides art education to learners in schools, colleges and universities. The organization s Web site offers art-related news and store locations. Wally Findlay Galleries International is located in Palm Beach, Fla.

History

Established in 1870.

Wally Findlay Galleries was founded as "Findlay Art Rooms" In Kansas City, Missouri, in 1870, by William Wadsworth Findlay. Initially, the company sold art supplies (including paints, brushes, canvas, etc.) as well as paintings. William's son, Walstein C. Findlay, took over the business. One of the senior Wally's innovations was that of acquiring art directly from the capitals of Europe and bringing them back to the United States for resale. Wally Findlay, Jr. joined the company in 1932, and under his leadership, the company expanded geographically opening a gallery in Chicago in 1938. In 1961, the gallery in Palm Beach was opened, followed by New York in 1964. In 1971, the company opened galleries in Beverly Hills and Paris. In August 1969, Wally Findlay Galleries became a public company. The stock traded over-the-counter. In 1973, Findlay bought back 100% of the outstanding stock. Wally Findlay died in 1996, leaving no heirs. James Borynack acquired the company in 1997.

This theater has seen better days. But the price is right! All shows are about $6 for all shows…read moreeveryday. So it makes going out to a movie quite reasonable. There's ample parking in the free lot out front. Most folks make their reservations online before coming to the theater. You also choose your seat assignment at that time, too. I used fandango. As you enter, there are two machines on the right side where you can enter your confirmation numbers. The machine then prints out your tickets. We only saw one staff member. She was working the snack bar. I assume you can also buy tickets on site from her as well. We were seeing a matinee and there were only a few other folks in the theater. The screen is large and the sound system is more than loud enough for anyone. The only negative was that it was freezing cold. Next time, I'll know to bring a sweater.
