I was over due for a trim and my step mother was nice enough to surprise me with a haircut at this place, while we were visiting. The hairstylist who did my hair was Debby thanks to my step mother's recommendation and I was nervous at first, my hairstylist at home is the only one I trust with my hair and she surprised me with some layers and I asked for bangs to frame my face. It came out great and I will definitely come back here when I'm in the area again and request her specifically to do my hair! My dad got a trim up and layers as well and he said in all his years it was the best haircut he had ever gotten and not bad for $20 including a hair wash! My only complaint would be that it was a bit pricey for mine for $40, but maybe that's because she scrubbed pretty hard so it was a deep cleaning hair wash and blow dry. I would definitely recommend coming in and checking out this hip little hair salon! I went in looking like a feral animal....it had been so long since I have gotten my hair cut. I called ahead and they made time for me the same day, which was amazing. Amy took amazing care of me and the crap load of hair she had to deal with. She was excellent about asking questions to make sure I got what I wanted and did a wonderful job of explaining everything she was doing. She is an extremely talented stylist, and looking around while I was in there, everyone left with gorgeous hair. Absolutely recommend this salon if you're on the island. read more

The owner is one of the most amenable, proficient hair stylists I have ever met. She is very professional as well as a pleasure to talk to and makes the experience of having your hair cut feel like a short getaway. What makes this place 5 star for me is what you get for your money. I walked out with one of the best hair cuts I have ever had and only paid $30 (shampoo and styling included)! I just moved down to the island from New York and I was a little worried about finding someone to recreate my cut. My mother also wanted to find someone too who wouldn't murder her short, coarse, unruly hair. Then we found Deb at Michaelangelo's. All of the reviews are great, but we had been to people before with many stars and they still underwhelmed, but not Deb. She did an awesome job on my hair and my mothers. Did a spa facial with Sheila - it was fantastic!! I have extremely sensitive skin, but she worked with me to do a facial that was gentle on my skin. It feels great and has never looked better!!! My wife made an appointment over a week ago for the both of us with Deb. Having just moved to the area, we chose this salon because of the good reviews. After driving from Darien to St Simons, we called for directions because Siri lead us on a goose chase. I gave our names said we were on our way, (still had 20 minutes to get there), and was given directions. I was told Deb was with a client and we had time to grab something quick to eat before our appointment. As soon as we got off the phone, the salon called back and told us we didn't have appointments. During the confusing phone call, I could hear Deb in the background saying she never made an appointment with us. I gave my wife the phone because she made the appointment and she was told we could come back at 5:30. Our appoint was for 2:00! Very bad business. Lack of communication. A waste of our time, money, and I hope their hair cutting is better than their customer service. read more

Called and got an appointment the same day. Angie was so talented and proficient, and I got a great cut. She listened very intently to what I wanted, and cut little by little, so she wouldn't take off too much. Halfway through, she dried it to see how it would look and then wanted to know if I wanted more of it cut. I did, so off she went. It looked fabulous by the time she was done. So many times I've had my hair cut to within an inch of it's life, and this experience was not like that. Angie wanted to make sure I was pleased with it. We talked easily the whole time, and she's very gracious and friendly. I wished I lived in GA so I could go to her all the time. As it is, I'll come here every time I visit. Angie (owner) does it all.....long to short cuts.... romantic to sassy styling and does them VERY WELL! I am a "snowbird" on St. Simons Island and after noticing that the majority of local ladies prefer long hair styles, I nervously made an appointment with Angie, who at the time was creating a beautiful, romantic hairdo on a patron for a wedding. I wear a short and slightly sassy hair style that requires a precision cut and up-to-date short hairstyling. My stylist was Debbie. She was upbeat and talkative. Both Debbie, and Angie were friendly and welcoming.. I showed Debbie the pictures of the cut and color that I wanted, and she went right to work. It is difficult to find stylists that are comfortable with curly hair, but Debbie dove right in. She was amazing. I left feeling the way that you're supposed to feel when you leave a salon. Just got my first haircut at this salon this past Saturday. When I set up the appointment earlier in the week I explained that my last haircut at a Sports Clips had been one of worst cuts in my life, complete with severe razor burns on the back of my neck. I made it clear that I wanted to find a professional salon with well qualified stylists! I was very pleased by the information I was given about the salon and stylist's qualifications. I was also happy with the understanding way they responded to my concerns about the quality of the service! At no time did they take a defensive tone or seem upset by my questions. I was given an appointment for Saturday afternoon. When I arrived I was greeted in a friendly and professional manner. Before getting started we went over the details of how I wanted my cut. I have lived in the area since the late 80's so I've been to a number of local places. Angie is definitely one of the more talented people among her peers.
