We ordered online from a phone and it was super easy to do!! We ordered 3 pizzas, all 14" and they were great sizes! I was pleasantly surprised by the cheese and toppings, well worth the $15-20 per pizza. When we picked up the pizzas, they were helping pick up orders first, so we highly recommend ordering in advance since they were busy and not much room to park. The buffalo chicken pizza was on point, pepperoni was good and the white pizza was different but overall great flavor. Would recommend this place!!

We did a takeout order and everything was delicious. The only reason I gave it 4 stars for the rating. The staff was friendly when we called and went in to pick up. We will order again!

Large cheese, pizza edge to edge and folded on the edges they make them too big

Love it and always will!!! Man loveMm michelangelos kills it every time and order pick up. It's ready in 20 minutes.

It has been years since I have been to this restaurant. Last time I was there I would have given it a negative if I could. But now I can honestly say it is definitely hovering around a 3 star. I used multiple different things in order to form my current "star" judgement including the attitude of staff, cleanliness, parking, taste of food, and was the taste worth the cost or the hassle. So first the attitude of the staff. Immediately when I walked in, I was greeted by two very lovely waitresses, who told me I could sit anywhere I liked. I chose to sit at the bar where I could see into the kitchen. The waitress behind the bar quickly took my drink order and handed me a menu. After some internal debate I ended up ordering quite a bit of food so I could sample a little of everything. Yes, you guessed it, I will be eating leftovers tomorrow too. I ordered a MUG rootbeer, slice of pepperoni, ham & mushroom, an order of fried pickles, 2 meatballs with mozzarella, a chef salad, and limoncello cake slice. I also explained that I have a severe deathly allergic reaction to onion so nothing can touch onion. Upon asking, she explained the salads are premade daily. the difference between the chef salad and the house salad is the ham, turkey and salami sandwich meat that comes cut up on top. So for this the staff would get a 4.5 stars. Now we move on to cleanliness. Obviously I didn't get out a set of white gloves or inspect the kitchen, but all the dirty dishes were picked up, the tables wiped off, the floor swept. Everything looked very sanitized. I would give them a 4 on cleanliness. Now comes the parking. This restaurant is located in a beach town that is 15 minutes down the road from the biggest Marine Corps base on the East Coast. Between all the Marines, Civilians, and contractors, and their families, then you throw tourists in the mix, having an exceptionally small parking lot that is shared by 3 restaurants is an absolute disaster. I have attached a picture of google earth with labels of the restaurants and the employee parking for the one set of restaurants. On to the fun part, the Food!!! Chef Salad - I like my salad to be green. Today I received a salad where most of the lettuce was almost the same color as the cheese: white, white, white. It had 4 small tomatoes, cheese, and sandwich meat that had been rolled and cut so it was spiraled like a pinwheel. To me, definitely not worth the $6.99 price tag. Pizza slice - over all not bad. Michaelangelo's cooks New York style pizza which has a tendency to be real chewy. The pizza surprisingly wasn't like chewing on a rubber dog toy, and had a decent flavor. The toppings were good as well. I did have some grease but that is to be expected. Yes it is worth the $3.50 for a slice. Limoncello cake - probably the biggest disappointment. I love all things lemon, but the slices are taken put of their original packaging, put onto new packages that are individual packages and placed in the refrigerator to keep them fresher longer. One problem with this is, like my slice today, the frosting is great, but the cake itself is soggy and mushy. Was definitely, hands down, 100% not worth paying $5.25! MUG rootbeer - well it is my favorite rootbeer and the machine was in good working condition so no issues on that front. Meantballs - these were super yummy. They were also a pretty hefty size coming in at just a little smaller than a tennis ball. Definitely worth the price! Fried Pickles - I was surprised to find that the batter on these was a bit on the spicy side. I love spicy food so its wasn't an issue for me, but it was a shock. I can imagine it being an issue if someone who doesn't like spicy foods orders them though. And, they were good, but they didn't leave you with that super amazed feeling. I was left with, meh it was good. Definitely not good enough to fight the parking lot battle to come in and pay $8.50. I think if I was there with friends and we were getting pizza I might entertain getting them if it were $6 but not $8.5 So again to recap, the service was excellent, the parking stinks and the food is hot and miss on what's good, what's meh, and what's in the "just don't eat that" category.

Chicken pita (be warned, it is fried chicken)
Jessica C.

Not terrible if you're in a pinch for something to eat. We were working and not familiar with the area. Staff was friendly and food was okay. Hoping for something a little bit healthier, I ordered the chicken pita with no ranch. I was so disappointed when the pita came and it was fried. It doesn't say anything on the menu about it being fried. I was assuming it was grilled chicken. My suggestion would be to put in the menu that it is fried chicken.

This is the only place in Surf City that serves an actual pizza. And the staff are very accommodating.

It was clean, loud, good loud filled with conversation and laughter. Unfortunately, my pasta was extremely overcooked. It was so soft that I couldn't even pick it up with a fork without it falling apart. The photo shown shows just how shredded the pasta was when I picked it up. The sauce itself was delicious, which made it even more disappointing because the pasta was basically mush. I brought it to their attention, and they apologized, but then told me the kitchen was closed. I believe they stop serving at 9:00 p.m., and it was only 9:03 p.m. when I mentioned the issue. Whether the kitchen was technically closed or not, fixing the dish would have only required boiling a small portion of pasta and adding some of the sauce that I assumed was already prepared. I mean it was literally 3mins past 9pm there's no way they cleaned the kitchen and packed up that quick. There were still multiple tables here. Instead, I was told there was nothing they could do, though they would remove the item from the bill. While I appreciate not being charged, I don't think that was the most appropriate solution because it essentially meant I didn't get to eat a main course. My husband still had his meal, so at that point it didn't seem worth leaving or trying to find food elsewhere after already spending around $70 on dinner (the pasta not included). If it had been much later in the evening, or I wanted to add something to my bill, I would have understood, but being only a few minutes past closing made the response feel disappointing. The flavors were excellent, and up until that point the experience had been very good. I really wanted that pasta too haha. The sauce was so good. I hope they handle situations like this differently in the future.

For appetizers we got the crab dip and the calamari. I loved the calamari, the crab dip was good but we definitely needed just a few more chips. They bring out bread which is nice as well. For my main I got the salmon, it was delicious! I did the Tuscan garlic butter on top which I really liked. My sides of vegetables and a baked potato were good as well. Our server was so sweet, we loved her. Unfortunately we're giving a 4/5 because we asked the hostess if she could move us to an open table out of the direct sunlight and she states she would check and be right back. Well, we never saw her again. The table was open for a while before another party was sat so I assume she just didn't want to move us. Overall, we still had a great dinner and would come back again to try other food options as we enjoyed what we got. Definitely try this place out!

We visited with 8 adults and 2 kids. Since it was quite windy outside, we chose to sit indoors. When we checked with the hostess, we were asked to wait a few minutes until the tables were ready. The interior feels like a spacious, cozy dining room. There is patio seating, and the views are stunning, overlooking the beach area and pier. STAFF Kate/Kat? was our server and she was super attentive and friendly. She checked on us frequently and truly made our first dining experience memorable. FOOD I ordered the Crab Cake sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. It was delicious! As mentioned on the menu, NO Filler, and they really meant that! The crab cake was seasoned and well-balanced. The tartar sauce was a great complement, tasting fresh and homemade. I only ate half my bun along with all the lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. The sweet potato fries were waffle-shaped and crispy. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their food and we had a few leftovers, which was taken in a to go box. All-around, good vibes, good service, good company and good views.

Nick is an absolute legend!…read more We came to Portofino not knowing what to expect, and we left completely blown away -- and honestly, a huge part of that was our waiter, Nick. This guy is on another level. From the moment we sat down, Nick's energy, knowledge, and genuine passion for hospitality set the tone for the entire evening. He wasn't just taking our order -- he was curating an experience. Now let's talk about the Cacio e Pepe -- insanely good doesn't even begin to cover it. It was perfectly executed: silky, bold, with just the right bite of pepper. Classic done right. But you know what made it taste even better? Nick. He recommended it with such confidence and enthusiasm that we had to order it, and he absolutely delivered. Nick was attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable without being pretentious, and just an all-around fantastic human being. He made us feel like VIP guests from start to finish -- checking in at exactly the right moments, offering spot-on suggestions, and keeping the whole experience flowing effortlessly. If you go to Portofino, you absolutely should ask for Nick by name. He is the kind of server that reminds you why going out to dinner is supposed to be a special occasion. We will 100% be back, and Nick is a big reason why. Portofino, you have a gem on your staff. Treat him well!
