Shopping at this store is a terrible experience. Empty shelves, overworked staff and no price checkers. Recently at check out my item was $10 more than was listed on the shelf. $35 for a pretty standard 5x7 picture frame. I would have caught that if there was a price checker around. Many items do not have prices at all, and besides going up to the register, there is no way to find out. This isn't a store you can rely on to complete a project as they are often out of stock of just about everything. I don't think they've had white acrylic craft paint in stock for 5 years! Also on my last trip there registers were completely unstaffed. There was one staff memeber in the general area directing people to the self checkout. As another poster mentioned this store is a cell phone signal dead zone. I wonder if that's on purpose. Do not count on being able to access your Michael's account to get any coupons while in the store. Plan on printing them out ahead of time if you'd like to use them. My friend thought I was joking until we went to this store together and I told her "watch, I won't be able to get my coupon". Yup. Why do I keep going back? Well every few months they send me a $5 coupon to spend on anything. So if I have time to kill, I browse the store for a craft kit or something else I can donate to Toys for Tots every Christmas. If I need craft supplies, I'll shop on Amazon like everyone else. read more

Absolutely embarrassing. They have four self checkout stations yet no one can do anything themselves because everything is ringing in incorrectly. They have one single person manning the whole checkout area by themselves and it's taking over 30 minutes to get 3 balloons filled. HORRIBLE experience. WAKE UP MICHAELS.... Quite honestly the most disorganized Michael's I've ever experienced with miserable employees who do not ever want to help people. Order online and pickup is never the same day and I never get a confirmation it's ready I just have to show up days later and ask. The lady with the blonde short hair and glasses is the most rude person I have ever encountered there do not ever ask her for help she will make you feel like you are bothering her. They're hardly stocked with what they should have. They've gotten rid of quality items and replaced their supplies with cheaper materials and tools but charge an arm and a leg. I shouldn't have to pay $50.00 for a twig and glue. There was this VERY weird employee that was incredible rude and honestly gave me the creeps as she kept staring non stop while I shopped. I said have a good night and was met with her creepy stare. She also really smelled bad. I don't think I have two heads and I know I shower and dress well. I have a designer purse so I don't think I fit the profile of a shop lifter....it was super uncomfortable. Other employees are rude and won't bother answering a question and say,"I'm on break." If you have an average of 2.5 stars - corporate and this store is DOING SOMETHING WRONG. I think it's just lazy not to offer bags. Won't be returning. read more

I placed an order online for pickup. Then I decided to buy another item in the store. All the staff in this store (framing dept, front cashiers) were all very helpful and pleasant! I've read the unfavorable reviews here, but I wanted to counter those with my experience today & in the recent past (2022 and since). Today, I had an issue with my online/pickup purchase, but all the staff who were involved (2 staff members) were very helpful and provided a substitute item quickly! I was visiting the store on a Tuesday morning around 11 am, so I can't speak for customer service on evenings or weekends. I came in here wanting to utilize the UPS drop off as advertised on the window. When I got to the front desk and asked this associate for help she didn't seem to know what I was talking about and said something over her radio, said that somebody would come and help me in just a minute. I stayed at the front desk for almost 10 minutes so I just left. Associates should be cross trained on something like this and if you're going to advertise it as a convenience then don't make someone wait for someone from the back to come check in the packages. If you need a Michael's, go to the one in Stoneham. This one always has a crazy line with 1, 2 cashiers max. Placed an online order that said it would be available for pickup and went in 3 hours later and the order wasn't ready. I told the woman I could grab the stuff quickly because I knew what was placed (just T-shirts) and she was so rude and said "or I can just do it rolling her eyes." I had been to Stoneham Michaels that morning to fill the order that Burlington didn't have enough of and the service was amazing and my cashier was an earth angel. I used to love Michaels and now I dread going in the place or ordering for pick up. They are chronically understaffed, making it impossible to get help. It is also clear the staff is stressed. The shelves are frequently empty. The WiFi is so bad it is difficult to use the app to use coupons and /or rewards certificates. I have had pick up orders taken and getting a refund was a hassle. I just had another pick up order canceled and I anticipate another hassle. I spend a lot of time doing craft projects that need consumables. Buying craft supplies used to be fun. Read these reviews before going to this Michael's. I was there early Saturday. There were FOURTEEN people in line and one cashier. When one customer asked politely if there was anyone else to work the register, an employee on the floor was quite rude. That employee said in an in-patient tone, "There is only me, the cashier and a framer. I'll be on the register in a while." He never came to the register. We all get staffing shortages but this Michael's is excessive and they clearly do not train their staff well. If they did, they might have more employees. The cashier was efficient and good. Michaels is one of my guilty pleasures. I go to Michaels all the time, and always find something great. This specific Michaels is a bit different than most of the others, in terms of setup, but in terms of the items sold, the prices and the coupons, it's exactly the same. This store is located on Cambridge Street in a plaza (which I don't know the name of) with Roche Bros, CVS, Marshalls and many other stores, right off I-95. It was recently renovated to follow the new, modern look for Michaels. Even though the store is an odd shape and the layout is really bonkers, they keep the shelves fully stocked, and keep the store in general very organized. The staff are friendly, and even though they were really short-handed when I came in, all of the staff were upbeat and happy. Why I was sort of disappointed is because waiting in a line that's out of queue, with only two registers is really unacceptable. There was a ginormous amount of clearance all around the store, and a huge seasonal section too. The thing is (hence the three star rating), I could have gone to basically any other Michaels and been able to find my items in a faster manner (as most of the other Michaels stores have the same / similar layout) and not had to wait in the ten person deep line at the same time. Work is needed for this place to improve, but for now, it's alright, and not as horrible as some of the other reviews depict. 3 stars. read more

I just left Michael's in Burlington. One employee was staffing the entire store. I had come in to pick an item that has been customized framed and couldn't. Others were leaving due to the lack of service. This was not the fault of the sole employee but corporate. If we are so short staff, we close. Le sigh. Note that this review is only for the Burlington, MA location, not the entire Michaels chain. I still come here on a regular basis to fulfill my Pinterest addiction needs but only because it's the only Michaels convenient to my location. The customer service just isn't up to par still. It's hard to find a worker to help you find something and the odd occasion that you do they give you attitude. I recently got into a minor argument with a cashier over a coupon that I seemed to understand the terms for better than her. Just stick the thing in the computer and see if it works or not! Not worth a fight over. All in all the "help" is not very helpful and certainly not jolly. It puts a damper on my craft mojo. Boo. read more

Tip: This place has coupons online that you can print out and use in the store. Google image search Michael's Coupon or something like that, and you'll see what I mean. ALWAYS a good idea because these coupons are like 40% or 50% off!!!!! I used some 40% off ones last weekend and WOW it helps!! I have to go back for something else and plan to use the 50% ones (just took effect these next few days). But definitely worth the while to look up these coupons and use them!!! I was here last weekend - I needed baking supplies and they only have 1 small isle dedicated to that type of "art". I really wish the had more - but they do have a nice selection of all other kinds of art supplies - paints, plants, candles, decorations, scrapbooking, etc. Not to mention : COUPONS!!! read more

Where do I begin detailing my woeful visit to the Burlington Michaels? 1. The aisles are RIDICULOUSLY overcrowded. It looks like they just received freight and dumped it all over the store. I could barely maneuver my tiny shopping cart from one aisle to the next. I know they don't have control over what corporate tells them to display but, come on! Give a girl some breathing room while she's trying to get her craft on! 2. The floors are filthy, the displays are covered in dust and there just seemed to be trash everywhere. Kind of like Cleveland, OH! 3. But here was the straw that broke the camel's back...the whole reason I'm writing this review: they had ONE cashier on duty with, I kid you not, SEVEN people in line. The poor girl kept calling for help, but no one would respond. And I know there were other employees out there, because I saw them. Thank goodness my 7 month old was asleep and my toddler was behaving, because I would have walked out of the store. Who shops with a 7 month old and toddler in tow? Pretty much the worst Michaels I've ever been to. They NEVER have anything I'm looking for. I used to be excited to go and grab new art supplies, but lately it feels like I go and they are low or out or never had it to begin with. For example; no spray bottles or bath bomb molds, no edible glitter, out of pillow inserts etc etc. The staff is also largely unhelpful and doesn't seem to have a good attitude. They are not trained in customer service and seem angry that customers show up. It's gotten to the point where I now call ahead to see if they have it and ask them to bring it to the front so I don't have to deal with the employees anymore. read more

Good customer service goes a long way. I explained we did not have a printer to print out the coupon from online but I had written down the coupon code. They wouldn't take the code but had a little coupon bag with all of their recent coupons and provided us with an extra coupon. This was great considering we were doing some wedding decorating shopping here. We were able to save a considerable amount on our bulk purchase. Other help in the store was very helpful and knew what they carried and what they did not and where it was. Minor Gripes - The aisles were kind of crowded as this was a smaller store. Also, they didn't carry mirrors and other things that we've seen in larger Michael's stores. Location is nice right off I-95 with a large parking lot. read more

I love Michaels stores and frequent at them given my line of work. I would not recommend this Michaels store over other area stores for a few consistent reasons. This store is smaller than other stores so it does not carry as much. The staff members are very rude, and the store is dirty and cramped. A serviceable craft supply store, like most of them it's crowded and there's a lot of cheap junk but it's handy and inexpensive if you have kids who like to craft. There is a good selection of craft paints and some supplies for making dollhouse furniture, cake decorating, etc... There used to be a huge selection of frames but they seem to have cut back recently. Always use a coupon for the custom framing. The yarn is major multinational brands only, there are no high-end yarns, and very few sewing supplies. It can be hard to find things but if you can find a staff member, they are knowledgeable. read more

Hmmm, I rarely write reviews but I just spent thirty minutes this morning waiting to place a very simple framing order. The fellow working at the framing department seemed quite confused, and after ten minutes I politely asked how much longer it would be before I would be served (he was tending to one customer) and he said about ten minutes. So after twenty more minutes of waiting, I bailed. I tried to speak to the manager to provide some constructive feedback (aka, thirty minutes is not an OK wait time to place an order), but the manager was too busy to speak after waiting about five minutes for him. Also, I completely agree that there are weirdly long lines at the cashier here, and as others have pointed out it's true that the staff at the cash registers are extra chatty - I just want to pay and go, no need to engage in extended banter. Now that Wegman's and the liquor store are closed on either side, I presume this Michael's location won't last much longer either, based on Yelp feedback. Too bad! read more

This place rocks for picture frames, random bamboo torches, beads, and your personal paint supply a la Van Gogh. I always come here to find what I need for the house. The most recent occasion involved searching for etching cream (for that personal stamp on your glassware) and left with a spray can full of snow effect for the bathroom window! read more

I like Michael's- I do. In the past month I have shopped at the Falmouth, MA one and the Burlington, MA one. Do the cashiers have to be so chatty? I like good service and personal service- BUT, these folks never shut up. They stop ringing your order to talk to you, they talk amongst themselves, or they try and help another customer while ringing your order- and to make matters worse, there is always a line. ALWAYS. My cashier in Falmouth sang through out my entire interaction, today in Burlington, the line was endless. It will be a tough sell for me to ever go back to one. I try my hardest to avoid places whose business plan includes selling lots and lots of plastic flowers and plants. And I don't really like stores that have the smell of cinnamon and other herbs and spices, especially if they don't actually sell food. But in the end, I guess I don't mind Michael's all that much, as it has some really good art supplies as well as some other items that I sometimes am looking for. The staff is always super helpful and wicked friendly. I was trying to find a yarn but all I had wad the wrapper of the skein (roll) I had at home. They offered scan the bar code for me to make my search faster. I didn't ask for help they just approached me and offered. They made my visit way less stressful and so much faster do I could get on with the other things I needed to do. That's just one example of how helpful they are. Another is how the assistant manager spent nearly 10 min with me while I tried to figure out what to do for a project that I have been stuck on! Helpful and friendly! :) read more
