Clearly one person does not represent the entire store, however, when it's a manager, it speaks volumes. I snuck away from work to have a picture custom framed. I milled around for a bit searching for someone. Then went to the front requesting help at the framing station. I was told that they just left for break/lunch. I did not have a half to wait and asked if there was someone else could help so they paged a manager. Claudio's position was, do you take a lunch? I told him we get one chance to make a sale. My intent was to buy an 11x14 inch photo frame with glass at Michaels on Route 3 in Clifton, New Jersey. I found a frame. It was packaged with shrink wrap. I was unable to touch the "glass". The label did not indicate the frame came with plexiglass. Arriving home I removed the shrink wrap and discovered it was plexiglass. I rechecked the front and back of the frame and the label for indications it came with plexiglass. There were none. I returned the frame to Michaels. The manager refused to accept it as a return even as I presented another frame, without shrink wrap that came with glass which I wanted to buy. The manager insisted that "buyer beware" was Michaels' policy because "You could determine it was plexiglass by pushing on the shrink wrap. You should not have removed the packaging. We cannot now take it back." (I was unable to touch the plexiglass through the shrink wrap.) Michaels would not deviate from its position, nor accept my averment that it was impossible for me to determine whether there was glass or plexiglass. Michael's has decided to go self-serve. I used the self check out yesterday at the Michael's on Bell west of 67th Ave. I was directed to the self check out. Simple, right? The machine said the transaction failed, so I tried again and was successful the second time. The funds were deducted from my account twice. Nothing can be done until Tuesday or Wednesday when the transactions are posted, not pending. Then I can go back to Michael's again. Hopefully, they will correct the issue. Don't use the self check out. You are on your own completely if you do. Had to dispute the second transaction with my bank. read more

Please someone stage an intervention!!! Have I become "Suzie Craft maker?" I feel like I live here lately. Visited store three times last week to get supplies for school projects: circle cutter, square cutter and craft paper. . Back this week for party favors, baking trays and Valentine's day kids craft kit . On a separate visit, I purchased a "cupcake" stand that was $30 for $15 with a 50% coupon. Can't beat that. The line seems long, but it's one line that breaks up into several cash registers. It usually goes pretty quick. While I wait on the line I do a quick Google search for Michael's coupons and I always find a 40% or 50% off coupon that they scan right off my phone. Lately when I need something I first check if this store carries it before I purchase it elsewhere, the ease of getting coupons for Michael's Craft Store makes me want to purchase everything from here. I ordered some glasses online. When they were delivered, 2 out of the 8 glasses were broken due to the way it was packaged. I went to the store to get a replacement or my money back. I ended up just getting a refund. However, they only refunded the cost of the item and not the s&h or even the taxes! Normally, I am a fan of Michaels. However, this Michaels branch is lacking... The store is located in a strip mall off of route 3 in Clifton; thus making it difficult to head into without pulling a U-turn if you are coming in East bound. Parking is terrible. The parking lot is shared with about 15 other stores. The sales associates are not only rude, but are not familiar the store layout or products. I am not a fan. This Michaels is located in a shopping plaza right off of Route 3. It's a busy shopping area, so be careful driving through the parking lot. Finding a parking space may be a hassle. However, it's a solid Michaels store. It's clean, organized, and well-stocked. I've gone here to buy scrapbook stuff, and they have a good selection of decals, stickers, pages, etc. Also, the cashiers are friendly. One girl let me know of a deal going on that week on something that I was buying. I didn't have the coupon, but she scanned one for me from her phone. My boyfriend and I always pass by this particular Michael's when we're around Clifton, NJ. I needed to stop by Michael's to pick up a few minimal things. This Michael's seemed a bit smaller compared to the other two that I've been to. Finding a parking spot was a little hard since there are other shops in the same complex. I wasn't too impressed with this Michael's since it seemed a bit messy. I had to wait in line for almost 5-10 minutes just to buy 2-3 items which seemed absurd. I definitely think the one in Edgewater, NJ is better on so many levels. read more

Decent Michael's, just like all the rest to be honest, but this one had really nice workers so it gets 4 stars. T he negatives I left for another Michael's were basically: way too confusing, not enough signs or maps or people walking around to help you find stuff (for novice shoppers like me anyway), and there is never any cellular service in the store to download the coupons. The pros are: in a good shopping plaza with lots of other stuff around, and right off of Rt 3 so easy to get to, and a good back door to Costco, and you can pretty much always find a 40% coupon for one item, and if you can't find the item at Michael's, you probably don't need it. read more

If I could give 0 stars!! I would !! I order online to pick up in store because the store closer to me didn't have the item. I was looking for, once I got to this location & I walk in the store is a complete mess. The employees don't seem to pick up or care. The line was long I made it because my child wanted a nutcracker and waiting for order is ready once It was my turn next cashier #8 calls me over I walk over he barely cares that am there and is more worried about who his texting then the customer. I wait until his done but then am asking him about if my order is almost done if he's able check he goes back to texting. I look cashier next to him in disbelief of service am receiving she could care less. He then finds time out of his texting told me still processing if I wanted I could grab the items myself and buy them that once my order was ready to just cancel the order. I came to Michaels because they had a really good coupon for both custom and stock framing. Rose at the framing desk was really helpful in choosing something complementary. Also picked up a stock frame for something else and the best part of all is the way the check out line is set up- one long line and you go to the first available register, instead of picking a line and hoping you're not stuck behind someone with issues (common in a craft store, let me tell ya). read more

Michaels is for artists what Walmart is to the high end shopping experience. Great, if you're a kid or an old lady looking to stay busy during your remaining years. Not so much otherwise. I really wouldn't bother writing about a place I invest so little time or money in if it were not for how badly the two matting jobs they've done for me. The first, a studio photo of Johnny Cash which continually fell the the matte and two, an unevenly cut matte for a signed Ali / Frazier photo. It can be a bit hard to park at times since it shares a parking lot with many other stores and restaurants. They always seem to have what I need or are helpful at pointing me in the right direction else where.
