Arlington Jewelers is a family oriented business with Sal at the helm. His adult children are often seen behind the counter assisting other customers. Entering the store, your initially impressed with all of the displays; neat and orderly, organized by type and size, a banquet for the eyes making your choices stress free. Each time I visit Arlington Jewelers I am warmly greet by the Family. From a simple repair to finding that correct piece for someone special, the Family is there assisting you without your feeling rushed or compromised. There IS a difference in the manner in which Arlington Jewelers interacts with their customers all of which becomes evident with each visit. This place does cheap work while charging thousands of dollars and then LIES when they have to fix something. Absolutely despicable. My now-husband spent thousands of dollars for a custom engagement ring. It was beautiful, and they even tweaked some parts of it after we were engaged. However, not even six months after that, a small diamond fell out. Arlington replaced it for free (more to come about this). We were happy until the following year a second, larger diamond fell out!! I went to a new jeweler because I didn't trust Arlington anymore. A year after that A THIRD DIAMOND fell out. THREE LOST DIAMONDS IN THREE YEARS. (I don't do heavy work while wearing my ring. There is no reason for this, even if I did.) I'm now in the process of recreating the ring with Jared's because of their protection plan, and when they inspected my ring, they pointed out all the worn down or missing prongs, saw a cracked diamond, and discovered a CUBIC ZIRCONIA. Arlington DID NOT REPLACE the first lost diamond - they LIED TO US and gave us a fake stone instead. They cannot be trusted with your business. read more

I had several high end watches that I needed some links removed from. My preferred jeweler is on summer hours, so I figured I would give this place another shot, as my first time there they broke a piece on my watch (during battery replacement). I should have known... "Not today Pal! I'm busy and by myself. Come back when my son is here (the one who broke my watch last time) - try next Tuesday." A full week from the day I visited. I didn't say I needed this done on the same day, and there was zero discussion around it before he dismissed me and walked away. What awful customer service. Never again. read more

Many years ago I went in to see Sal at Arlington Jewelers in Nutley with a picture of a pendant that was popular that Christmas at a national jewelry chain. I wanted to buy something similar as a present for my wife. Sal made a one of a kind piece for two thirds of the price that the national chain was charging and my wife loves her pendant. Arlington Jewelers came highly recommended to me by my boyfriend's mom who has gotten several pieces of jewelry custom made here. I had fallen in love with a ring I saw at another jewelry store, however, my boyfriend and I wanted to shop around a bit more before buying it. We then went to see Sal at Arlington Jewelers and he had a ring that was SO similar to the one I had seen at the other jewelry store. The only difference was that Sal's ring had three diamonds in it instead of two diamonds and a sapphire like the other one I had seen. My boyfriend and Sal arranged to have a sapphire put into the ring I wanted and I am truly in love with it. It is so beautiful and well made, I can't stop looking at it on my finger! Sal was also a pleasure to deal with. I also purchased a sterling silver infinity necklace here, which I really like and wear all the time. Went in for watch repair. 50 yr old 18 karat gold, my father's who passed away. After receiving repair watch face fell apart. Returned for final repair. Picked it up and got it home. Realized the piece that tracks the minutes was missing. Returned for a 3rd time and asked for a refund and the missing piece. Sal(the owner) got upset and asked me to leave and never come back. This was the only thing my father left me and he demolished it. There were others in the store so I kept my cool and left. He left me no choice but to seek legal counsel. read more

Used to think highly of this place as I have had custom jewelry made here as well as my wedding rings. While shopping for our wedding rings, my mother decided to upgrade her setting for her diamond engagement ring. She picked one out, he put everything in a bag and put it away and said he'd call when it was ready. A month later she goes in, looks at the ring and says hmm this diamond looks different. Sal, the owner, insisted it was because it was a new setting. She took his word for it but was still leary so went to a gemologist to compare her original appraisal to this and found out the diamond Sal gave her was NOT the diamond she left with him. It was a piece of crap. My mother went back and confronted him and only then did he finally admit he lost it. But who tries to pass off a crummy diamond before telling the customer the truth. I suspect he didn't expect my mother to have a 40 year old appraisal and would have gotten away with it if she didn't. He did eventually replace the crummy diamond with a better one, but still nothing compared to the value of her original diamond. He is a shady businessman and I would not trust him with precious items. He has lost my business forever and many others as I have told others this incredibly crooked story. I brought my brand new watch to Arlington Jewelers to get the band adjusted. After the first day of wearing it, the buckle kept coming apart. I brought the watch back and he said it would be a couple dollars to repair. I waited a week and called to check the status. He told me that the watch was ready. I came in (on a Friday) and he stated that he didn't have the watch ready and that it would be $15 to be repaired by his watch guy. He told me to come in Monday to pick up the watch. I called that Monday (3 times) and no one answered. That Wednesday I went back to pick the watch up and it had a chrome buckle for a dark brushed aluminum watch. He told me the replacement would be from the factory but it wasn't. He told me there was nothing he can do and that he would give me my money back and that he would put the watch back in the condition that I had originally brought it. He said the watch would be ready the following week. When I went back, I received my watch back with a plastic bag filled with the buckle and all it's pieces. Keep in mind that I brought the watch there in good condition but with a buckle that would just come apart some of the time. In the end, I received back a watch that is not usable, a month of wasted time, and a ruined day. I hate to say it but the guy (I'm assuming he is the owner) is a slime ball, poor business man, and would probably sell his mother a $10 watch for $200. He will try to make it sound like he is doing you a favor but he is just looking out for himself and waiting for the next chump to walk into the store and rob blind. Considering all the religious stuff he has hanging around the store, you might have thought he was a good person. Save yourself the time and go somewhere else. read more
