I stopped in one downtown district shop crawl and was instantly greeted by the shop owner, Jan. What a wonderful lady! I loved the shop. A couple Iowa-centric items, lots of beautiful decor, paintings, furniture-- all carefully curated. I begrudgingly left that night empty handed. (A lot of the items on my radar were not surprisingly pricey. I unfortunately tend to have expensive taste. And this shop definitely has some higher end items.) Then, last week, I realized they sell items ONLINE with free contactless local delivery. *Happy Dance* I'm not sure if you've perused the Northside? But currently an entire street is closed to outside dining which is amazing, but does the parking situation no favors. ANYWAYS. The online shop was filled with candles, tea towels, furniture, pillows, vases, rugs, artwork... the whole gambit. I found an amazing photo of the pedestrian mall in the rain. I couldn't resist. My treasure was well priced. Jan emailed me personally that night to set up next day delivery. I found my package neatly put between my doors, packed with care. The cherry on top was a handwritten note from the shop owner. The picture is perfection. I haven't used Luxe for interior design purposes. (And due to my frequent HGTV watching and inherent designing expertise, let's face it. I probably won't anytime soon. ;)) But Jan is fabulous, the shop has tons of flair. In August, we received another email with an invoice for $2,100 as she had received items in her warehouse which we paid. The owner failed to keep us posted on timelines and deliveries which we were supposed to have in September (after paying for items in August). Our delivery was scheduled for October 22 when I got a call that the truck had been in an accident and all of our pieces were damaged and she would have to reorder. She did not offer a refund. Months later, she delivers $6,000 worth of the items. That was the end of it. I finally called and demanded a refund which they processed (has not reached my card yet). I come to find out that 1) No one at Luxe Interiors ever heard anything about an accident and 2) the order for one sofa was never placed and the other order was placed then cancelled back in December. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE LYING CRIMINALS!

We stopped in this location because a family member wanted to. Again, the Saturday BEFORE Christmas. Inventory was very good and they had a ton of great items. You can't beat the book selection, $5 t-shirts, games, toys, pet supplies, home decor and so much more. We waited a good 20+ minutes to check out. There were only 2 employees working. Definitely recommend Five Below. Just wait until it isn't a major holiday weekend.

I don't usually have much luck in the women's section (although they do have a great selection of sports bras, leggings, etc.), but the men's area is a gold mine for me. If you are a small man (or a woman who likes the comfort of men's sweats), this is the place for you. Everything is always nicely organized and it's very easy to find the color and size you want. This is definitely a hidden gem as I would imagine the population of Williamsburg, Iowa isn't that large, it's probably just folks on road trips, like myself, who pop in here.

Once you were allowed inside, there are lots of great clothes for both men and women with decent discounts. I like the golf gear, especially the shorts. I choose not to buy shoes but like the discount discontinued racks that can provide a steal of a deal if you happen to see your size. Parking is plentifulcand everyone is safely social distancing. Just wanted to give a shout out to the good service I receive here regularly, and especially a few…read morenights ago, and specifically this time to Emily. I live in Bettendorf, but am in Iowa City frequently as my wife and I have 3 daughters living there. Two daughters live very close to this hardware store and I was string-trimming at one of their houses, and I flung a rock into my car's driver side window and it shattered. I needed to drive the home on I80 but wanted some clear plastic on the window if possible. Emily gave me some used plastic from some inventory they had unloaded, and I bought some duct tape. As I went to the car I realized I would need scissors and told her I might be back if I can't get hold of the other daughter and her husband who live close. Daughter didn't answer so as I was about to call a different daughter and her husband Emily appeared and volunteered to help. She was very patient and had some great ideas like where we applied the tape to keep it off the paint. It was a loud ride home but I made it safely and Emily's great work held! This morning I got the window replaced and will not need to borrow or rent a car to drive to Chicago for a ballgame tomorrow. I probably could have made it home fine with no plastic, but it was nice to have, and I wasn't sure how long until I could get the window replaced nor how soon it was supposed to rain. I always say the world needs more kindness, and thank you to Emily for her great customer service from a business perspective, and for what I consider just simple kindness - another KO (Kindness Opportunity) fulfilled. Overall, I've brought in dozen of items - once they took about a dozen Wicker boxes and bags and some other items - and six months later I got $20. Recently I brought in brand new and greatly taken care of yard tools. Some of the limb and tree trimmers were even in the box. They're probably $50-$100 new. The next week when I stopped in and noticed they were all gone. I asked for my payout. It was $50. Should have done Facebook market. Either they were pricing in these items obscenely low (although when I look to ship the prices or normal and even high) or fill in the blank yourself. The next week, I took in 2 boxes and a suitcase o clothes... the lady wasn't working and the man took the entire thing, including $100 suitcase that I brought only for transportation, but they said he would take it. I stopped in a week later, and the lady is still not there. The man tells me those weren't the type of clothes they were looking for and they donated that them all to Goodwill but could not provide me the receipt of donation. I could've probably sold it overtime on Poshmark for hundreds of dollars. These people are the worst.
