worst experience possible with the framing studio. not only where they unorganized and slow but when my art ( an original painting done by my farther) finally came back the frame was extremely bowed which was clearly visible with the naked eye. there were 2 signatures of who made it ( ERIC) and someone who was supposedly doing then"quality control" . as I lost all faith in them I asked them to take it off the frame so I could bring it somehwere else. it took 3 days to get it back and was extremely damaged with holes and rips everywhere . it because very clear that they have no business framing art. No apology, no acknowledgment, just pure incompetence . Please don't ever bring anything there that you care about.

I took my grandsons here for a wreath making class. I can't say enough good things about the people that work at this store. My grandson's are 4, 8, and 10. I am not very crafty. When we first came in, I asked if they could assist us in making the wreath. Even though there were lots of other people there, I felt like we were getting lots of attention. And it wasn't just us! They were giving assistance to each person in the class. Kudos to management. Do have the perfect people working in the classroom. It's this type of experience that will keep me coming back to the store. The boys had a wonderful gift to give to their parents. I may just come back and make one for myself.

Stopped by while on vacation to buy some yarn to make my boyfriend a hat. Tina was extraordinarily knowledgable about how the yarns knit up and which one would be good for my project. She even helped my boyfriend pick out a color that would look great on him! There's a sign in the store that says something like 'you come in a customer and leave as family." It's so true! I wish I lived closer so that I could be a part of this LYS community! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back next time we're in town.

There was a strong odor of cigarette smoke outside the shop, but thought this could have been from someone smoking outside. Nope. The strong smoke odor permeated throughout the shop. I spent about 15 minutes in the shop, picking up several different skeins of yarn to inspect the fibers and composition. No one was at the register. I'm not even sure if anyone there was working or not. It felt like I had entered a party that I was not invited to. Strange experience. I wanted to support a local business instead of Michaels, but walked out without a purchase. Even as I was exiting there was no greeting of any kind.

When I had trouble figuring out her website, the owner worked with me, and when I took a class wanting to do something very specific (make a traditional wired-brim hat that duplicated the look of one from a film), she helped me with that too even though it was slightly different from what the class was about (making an artistic felt hat). This is the only place in the suburbs that I know of which does any kind of millinery classes (felt hats from wool roving), and I'm grateful it's available. The owner's primary focus is the fabric arts (felting; weaving; dyeing) but also offer some bead and jewelry classes; the class I just took was a jewelry-making class in silver, copper, brass and even bronze taught by another artist. We all walked out with a generous handful of pieces we'd made and it was a lot of fun. I feel lucky to have access to such a variety of classes without having to drive in to Chicago, and the Berwyn studio is also fairly convenient. You might be taking a class all by yourself or with some other people; she has huge quantities of supplies, is patient guiding students, and you'll leave with something cool you made yourself. (She also sells tools and some of her / others' art. Some open studio available.) Limited parking in the back; some street parking. Studio might be a bit cold in the winter; consider a sweater or hoodie.

Excellent quality of all their products! Unique fabrics that are gorgeous. The needlework kits, cross stitch and embroidery, were very unique too. The staff person working was knowledgeable, helpful, and nice. I also thought the prices were good because of the high quality of the items. Will visit here again on my next trip to Evanston.

I love to sew. I am crafty, and I have a huge love (can you tell?) with fabrics! Thanks to Evanston Stitchworks, you'll find really fun and unique designs at their shop (currently available online). This isn't your typical fabric store. They support really cool independent designers and quirky fabrics for quilting and making clothes...well for sewing anything really. They also offer knitting supplies and all the books you might need to learn how to sew or knit. Evanston Stitchworks also offers many crafty classes (currently virtual). A few years ago I took their beginning knitting class. For some reason my brain gets all discombobulated when I try to knit, but the class was really fun. The owner was patient and kind and did everything she could to help me fix my mistakes along the way. Everyone else knocked it out of the park, so it's just not something I'm good at. I'm so glad this small local business exists, and I'll continue to purchase fabric from them. Speaking of fabric, don't you just love the designs I picked out for my two little nieces? They are Heather Ross designs, and my SIL is planning to make dresses for them. Can't wait to see how they turn out!
