Went to Wool and Company for the first time and was so impressed! The yarn was displayed beautifully, with a massive selection available. Anything you could want is right there for great prices. They have comfortable leather couches and chairs for seating as well as a long work table for community projects or events. The staff was friendly, helpful, but not overbearing. Because of their massive warehouse connected to the storefront you can have anything you need in a matter of minutes without having to wait! Will definitely be going again. read more

Holy cow! I don't even knit or crochet but I was in love with this beautiful store. Even considered for a hot minute that I might take up yet another craft hobby. LOL Instead I followed my daughter around and touched all the soft and pretty yarn while she decided which of the thousands of yarns she wanted to make her sweater with. "Soft yarn, warm yarn, pretty ball of yarn. Happy yarn, sleepy yarn. Purl, Knit Purl." Sorry back to my review. We were greeted by 2 associates as we entered and they were happy to answer my daughter's questions. Not only is this a retail space, but a warehouse. I order yarn couple time, first time my order was delayed, but still in a frame of time. The second ( II) order was placed on 02.27.26 I got it on 05.11.26. The third ( III) order I placed 03.27.26 this order came April 6TH of 2026 and that was the SAME YARN. I called numerous times and correspondence was on time, but it seems that they all don't know what they are doing. All 4 skeins where different definitely in a different colors, so my opinion is based on facts and experience and I think they just want to sell anything they have, they DO NOT care about the customers and their needs. I ruined my project because of them, wasn't able to do on time and because of the colors I do not know what to do with these 4 different color of balls. I never asked them to wind for me, they did it because that is not that obvious of color difference. I do NOT recommend anyone to buy from this company online, because you never know what and when you are going to get. Very disappointed and sad customer. read more

I have not been to the Chicago area in years but I love Wool and Co and I purchase from them regularly. They have a very large and thorough range of yarns and what makes shopping from far so easy is that each yarn is carefully and simply photographed so it is easy to see the exact color. Some yarn sites mix up color families, but Wool and Co puts yarns of the same color family together so it is much easier to compare one shade with another. So if you are not sure which red you like, you can see the small differences. Mixing colors is just confusing. I am also grateful for their shipping policy. If you want to try a yarn or a color, you can purchase one or two and not pay high shipping charges. Last but not least, Wool and Co has really excellent customer service. The reps are knowledgeable and helpful. If I lived nearby,, I would spend a lot of time at Wool and Co. read more

Beautiful spacious store with an excellent selection of natural fiber yarns. I'm always greeted and offered assistance as I enter, but not bothered at all when I just want to browse. The service is excellent, including free winding. I usually end up crocheting in the comfy nook set aside for the purpose for far longer than it takes to wind my yarn. I ordered on Wednesday before the 4th. I figured with all my ordering experience with other places it would be here in a week or two. I, recently, purchased several skeins of hand-dyed yarn and a beautiful, LYKKE wood crochet hook set in a suede-like storage case. Wool & Company offers free ball winding and free shipping on orders over $100. Love that! The unfortunate part of my experience came after using the crochet hooks on different types of yarn. I found that they were difficult to work with. The hooks drag on the yarn and are not easy to hold in position because they do not have a center flat area for gripping. I had already disposed of the cardboard packaging sleeve two weeks prior, when the set arrived. When I inquired about a return, Wool & Company referred me to their return policy and refused to accept. I understand their position about not accepting items that are not in the original packaging. However, I believe that Wool & Company would benefit from allowing room for individual cases and offer some accommodation when appropriate. I would have liked to share my experience using the LYKKE crochet hooks, but I could not find a link for product reviews on the Wool & Company website. read more

I bought two sweaters on eBay that i discovered had holes. Since I want to keep the amazing but hole blighted sweaters I drove to Wool and Company to see if they could be rehabilitated. Karen was amazing she made multiple suggestions on how to fix them. My 92 year old mom is a superb knitter so she will try to do repairs. This store is located in a business district off the beaten path but you have to visit. The yarns they sell are gorgeous and the also have pre assembled kits to make scarves and sweaters . Lots of helpful staff. If you knit or want to learn stop by. You will leave with the most fabulous skeins of yarn. read more

This is one of the most amazing yarn shops I have visited, across the country. I was a little skeptical, having been to the original location in downtown St. Charles, but took a chance and visited the new shop in person. Didn't have high expectations, seeing that it was like in a corporate/warehouse park. However, as soon as we stepped inside, I knew it was special. The new space is so thoughtfully designed, from a quiet nook where u can hang and knit, to a spacious place with yarns organized in such a thoughtful way. They had a wonderful selecting of finished samples, all with labels of the pattern and yarn used. They had a great selection of fibers, colors, and weight. And there were plenty of staff ready to help. Winding the yarn that we purchased was a speedy process too. Will definitely be back! read more

Would I fly to Illinois just to visit this yarn shop? Yes, I would, but I'd rather spend my money on beautiful yarn instead of a plane ticket! Sadly, there are no local yarn shops near me with the yarn that I want. (Sorry Jo-Ann's, you don't even qualify as a yarn shop). I ordered from Wool & Company online because they have a huge selection of Hedgehog Fibers, Malabrigo, and Berroco yarns which are my favorites! Their free ball winding service is incredible (IYKYK) so that I can start knitting with my new yarn right away instead of waiting for a kid-free day to bust out my ball winder and swift to wind skeins into balls myself. I would so love to visit Wool & Company in person one day, but for now, I'm more than satisfied with my yarns from them that I've already been knitting with. This is like the holy grail of knitting stores - the quantity and quality of yarn is incredible and the staff customer service is seriously out of this world.
