The staff seem to be friendly & in good spirits, helpful to patrons. Even at the end of the business day, items are organized & the aisles are tidy, uncluttered. I can really appreciate that. Meant to get something to put away the wreath I purchased at another Michaels location. Couldn't decide if I should get the hard plastic container or the sturdy, puncture resistant case (looks like nylon or backpack material). In the end, I opted the latter because the plastic was too bulky & appeared too big for my wreath. Got a few more ribbons, at 80% OFF, it was too good to pass up. Went to Michaels last night (12/3/25) to do a return, and the experience was unbelievably rude. As soon as we walked in, the manager--an older lady--made a judgment without even asking to see our receipts. No greeting, no smile, nothing welcoming at all. She immediately told us, "Those items aren't sold here," even though we did purchase them at Michaels. After we explained that we did buy them at Michaels, she just pointed at the young lady at Register 1 and said, "She'll help you," with zero professionalism. Thankfully, the young cashier was sweet and helpful--total opposite of the manager. It's honestly frustrating how people with that kind of attitude get promoted to a customer-facing role. Going into Michaels is quite frustrating as many products don't have prices on them and their app doesn't allow you to just scan the QR code to find out what the price is. Then when you go to check out and go to the register where there's no one in line, but the two cashiers are chitchatting and instead they want to direct you to the self check out... Why?? So they can chat some more. So as I'm "self checking out" they're checking out Spanish speakers so I guess the people that don't speak Spanish can go to "self check out" but the people that speak Spanish can get FULL SERVICE! And, self service isn't always faster, since you have to put in your phone number or your email and if it doesn't work, you have to look it up again and then it took several times before it would take my voucher coupon..... read more

Adrian in the framing department needs a raise! This review is specifically for the frame department at this location. Adrian went above and beyond on my large picture. He removed a canvas from the frame to replace it with a picture of my mom complete with matte and plexiglass. His work was spot on and so professional looking, he even put a backing and a landscape wire to hand my picture. I can't thank you enough for a great job. May I add this is not the first framing Adrian has done for us. Always a pleasure dealing with someone that exemplifies excellent customer service and integrity in his work. This is the place that makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. This Michaels location is located at the Downey Promenade. They have a plethora of craft, office, kids, and baking items. I was stuck in the scrapbooking and journaling section for a while. What I love about Michaels are their 40% off coupons (almost weekly), 20% off your entire purchase coupons (pretty frequently), frequent sales on everything in general, and the value items near the register like $1 coloring books. What I don't like about Michaels is that they charge an arm and a leg for shipping to Hawaii. Overall, a great Michaels location. Customer service was great. Friendly cashier. The only complaint I had is that the restroom was filthy. Toilet paper was almost out, and the hand dryers were a joke. No power and very little heat. Anyway, you don't go to Michaels for the restroom so, craft supply-wise...great! Will have to stop in every mainland trip as we don't have one in Hawaii. read more

The customer service and help at the Downey location of Michael's is completely incompetent and lousy to say the least, and the manager, Danielle was sarcastic and rude as well...we went in, looking for some specific vases and had to wait for 45 minutes with an end result of nothing and we asked them to check with the South Gate location and they called the Lakewood location, they couldn't even get that right... Story first. My mom's church had a fire so they have been using the auditorium/dining area for their Church gatherings. Someone suggested putting some flowers for the Facebook live sermon . You know fancy place up a bit. My mom came home with two urn . Oh this is exact the kind of project I love getting myself into. Here's the thing in design they teach you to decorate starting with the things you can't change from the room . Right off the back we are dealing with green /blue curtains and rust bricks. OK so I have my color scheme . Here's the thing that people don't really understand when it comes to synthetic flowers they are not cheap. Well not the good ones at least . The eye-catching flowers that you want to use can be $6To $20 each . Now that's just talking about flowers forget about all the other stuff you're gonna need like the foam the moss and the filler greenery. This little project easily came out to about $160 for both urn . I'm not gonna lie it did hurt me to buy one flower for that much money . I'm gonna say $25 of that money went to a dollar store for the bottom flowers and I'm OK with that . I'm 50% fancy and 50% sensible. I'll get a deal where I can get one , but I do love quality ! Such horrible customer service! I just went today and an older cashier lady with black short hair was being extremely rude with an older Asian lady that needed help getting her camera link to the coupon code. The cashier was yelling at her saying she has "a big line" and to just touch the button. Was huffing and puffing when the customer was being nice and patient. The cashier lady next to us didn't intervene or tell her to stop yelling at the customer. Even when I entered I saw some kids painting and I asked for information from a Caucasian worker and they ignored me. A mom had to inform me to check the website for kids events. Now let me say that Michaels is one of my favorite places to find craft supplies. The fact that you can ALWAYS find a 40% off coupon makes it even better. Anything I'm looking for for a DIY project, I can find at Michaels. However, the reason I'm giving a 3 star review is because of the online/in-store pick up options. I'm not sure if this has been improved since the temporary closure and everything is curbside pickup, but before the temporary shutdown, I have to say, in-store pickup was rather disappointing. Two comments for hopeful improvement in this are: 1) Clearer signage for where to go for the pickup. The first time I did this, I had to go through the main line. So the next time, naturally, I did the same thing. I waited for 30 minutes in line only to be told there's an online pickup station at the side of the store. When I got there, there was a small sign saying "ring here for online pickup." 2) Every pickup I've had from an online purchase has had a broken or damaged item. Because it's every single time, I can only imagine that I'm either being hoodwinked into taking an item that someone wouldn't pick in the store, or the staff is not being attentive to give an appropriate item. Either way, it has unfortunately resulted in a lot of wasted time and effort. That being said, when I shop in store, I almost always have a wonderful experience. There is plenty of parking here. This Michaels is big but its not very clean. A lot of items were of stock and I had no luck finding employees out on the floor to ask questions. There is 9 registers (I believe ) however they usually only have about 3 registers at a time open. The line can get long but I find it goes by pretty quickly.Don't forget to use your coupons, they always have good deals going on. This was the best Michaels store I had been to. They had so many goodies on sale at the front door and inside. With proximity to Staples, Old Navy, Casual Male, Best Buy and Jamba Juice, this is a convenient spot for students. The store itself was clean and well organized sans the items I left on the wrong shelf. They had sections for wedding supply, art, children's crafts, school supplies and more. This is my go to neighborhood Michaels when I'm looking for tools, supplies, crafts, baking, etc. I think I've always found what I needed to find except for one item which seems to be sold out in almost every hobby store I've called in the area. Aside that..I've always found and bought what I needed. The staff is very helpful. They will even walk you to the isle to help you look for the things you're looking for. This store is pretty big too. Probably my only complaint is that sometimes the AC isn't on inside. There have been a few times I've walked in and its HOT inside. Also don't forget to use your coupons! They've always got good deals. I always have a hard time getting reception inside the store so thank goodness for the free wifi they offer their guests. Also they do price match amazon stuff. Sometimes their stuff is priced a lot higher but if you can show them amazon sells it for cheaper..they've done some price matching for me in the past. I came in last minute for a project for my bf birthday & had no idea what I was looking for, I did have my book that told me but still have not crochet ever & he took the time to help me find all the colors I needed & everything else I was looking for with absolutely no complaints or bad attitude & I was totally here for it (he deserves a raise) especially with how great he is at customer service! The girls at the register were also all smiles & jokes even tho it was past their closing time & I walked out with a huge smile because I came in last minute, got almost everything I needed (they were out of stock o one thing) & got no bad attitude or vibes & told myself I had to instantly write a review before I forgot! The 2016 YELP 500, Review #074: One star... I asked a stellar employee where patches were and he gave me that look where I knew he didn't know what I was talking about. So I said, you know like an American flag patch (and I pointed to my shoulder) or maybe a decorative star or military Chevron but, not like a patch for a hole in you pants. So, with confidence he walked me to the very next aisle where he stared at what appeared to be piece of fabric for making a quilt. I stood there watching him for a few seconds, like watching a potential game winning field goal going through the air with no time remaining in the super bowl... It was dead silent... Finally I broke the silence and sternly said, No! That's not it!" and then he tells me it is in either aisle 6 or 8. Note to store, customers are not here to endure guessing games or scavenger hunts. I simply left and placed my order from a patch dealer on-line, via Amazon.
