Why didn't I come here sooner? Hobby Lobby is now one of my favorite store to shop at. They had spring items on sale for 50 percent off like plates, stainless steel and glass water bottles, planters, wall decor, wind chimes, toys, and so much more. My mouth dropped wide opened when I saw really good stuff on sale. They even had plain colored t-shirts for $3.25 each. My friends and I spent about an hour roaming around the store. So much to see with lots of options also for crafts. We spotted a section for clearance items where my friend bought plastic water bottles for $1.25 set of 3. So he bought two sets for $2.50. Such a great deal. We were all satisfied with what we bought at amazing prices. Can't wait to go back! read more

I must say I'm really unhappy, annoyed and disappointed with my visit today. I've been waiting weeks for the patriotic stuff to go on sale (seriously, me and my mom have been looking every Sunday on the app). Well it finally went on sale today!! I went to return something and then browsed the isles to pick out some new items for my red, white and blue decor at home. (4th of July is my FAVORITE)!! What.A.Let.Down. A large majority of the items looked like complete trash. Many, MANY things scratched and scuffed up. I don't want to decorate with crappy looking decorations. A couple items were even ripped (see America sign photo). What the heck!? Who in their right mind would think it's ok to stock that on the shelves? I contemplated taking these items to someone but it would have likely filled the bulk of the cart. I wish I would have taken more pictures but you can see how bad just the few were that I took. For a place that claims to have Christian values, their customer service is not great. I have experienced from more than one employee when I tried asking a question, they would say to just look in this area or that they were busy. There is a cashier who I have experienced more than once who has been rude. She knows I come there a lot and she makes it seem I'm stealing a card because I forgot my pin one time. The store is okay. Soooooo where else do you go to get a picture matted and framed anymore???? My friend recommended it, and I was hesitant...but didn't know where else to go...so I thought I'd check it out. I took my mom here to get a painting reframed and matted. We met Bob in the custom framing department in the back of the store (towards the right). Super friendly and chatty guy who has an eye and a passion for his work. The process was like nothing I had expected. You put your art on the counter and they take a picture from an overhead camera. Bob then mocks up your art with a Matt and frame that shows your finished piece on a monitor. We tried several different Matt colors, frames, and even adjusted the size of the Matt a couple times. Fast forward a couple weeks-met up with Bob and picked up our beautiful framed art! It was a reasonable price for the hands on help. We will be back to do more framing as this was a test run. read more

I absolutely love coming to Hobby lobby because they literally have all of my crafting needs, wants, and desires. I'll go here a lot to stock up on canvases and recently I decided to try out some plaster. The staff is helpful, when you can find one. The lines are always long, no matter what day you go on or what time you go. The lines will be long. That's just something to expect. A majority of the time I do go they are playing Christian music, which I do enjoy. They have a vast selection of paints, both professional and non-professional and they're a decent price. Majority of the time they are having deals I do like that it's either 50 to 40% off. Definitely can spend an hour to two hours walking around the store easily. Brought my daughter to see what Valentine decor options they had available for her Galentine party. They have endless options available, we loved it. The prices were surprisingly great for the quality of the items. I was so surprised to find red charger plates that I wanted as I did not know they carried that item. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE STEVE, I approached store manager and made a complaint about one of his employees. He was short with me, his facial expressions towards me told me to get out of here, not understanding. This is costing Hobby Lobby to loose a customer, sure you don't need my money when foot traffic is low and employee cost is high. Definitely not customer service friendly, this woman clerk, black short hair wearing a mask, squatted at my kid and I. My kid couldn't stop talking how she used her arms to tell us to go. This place is busy around Christmas. Their stock runs out so be sure to shop for all of your holiday items a month in advance. They regularly have sales of 50% off, but you need to check their website. The service can be slow due to their long checkout lines. Even with all of the registers open, it still be a few minutes of waiting even on the weekdays. The value of their merchandise is hard to beat elsewhere. They would have garnered a five star rating, but their isles are sometimes cluttered and empty when they are shifting in new inventory. read more

Good Sales but Unlabeled Aisles When first walking into Hobby Lobby, you will notice the abundance of sales signs and the tons of seasonal decorations and items they carry. Hobby Lobby has about everything you'll need from art supplies, home decor, seasonal decoration, baking supplies, etc.. However, it is very hard to navigate around the store. Unless your plan is to walk around aimlessly or you're wanting to walk through every single aisle, you aren't going to find what you're looking for right away. The sections such as Art Supplies and Home are labeled, but every individual aisle does not have labels. You'll get to the Art Supplies section, but you won't know which aisle has painting supplies until you walk through aisle after aisle until you see it. Employees are kind and helpful, but they are hard to find. I only ever saw them if they were working at the registers or if they were having a conversation with another employee in a random aisle. The items also do not have barcodes so the employee checking us out had to type out the item number for all of our items. I'm unsure if I would come here again because the sales were good and coincidentally for the items I needed. However, if you're in a hurry or don't want unnecessary stress, I wouldn't come here. read more

9/10/24 This is my 2nd visit to a craft store looking for envelope templates, my patience is wearing thin. I thought I would save some time by asking an associate to assist me in finding the envelope templates--Instead of walking aimlessly at an unfamiliar store. I politely asked one staff who was talking to another coworker where i would find these items. He points towards the back of the store, saying, "If we have them, they'd be back there somewhere" & proceeds to talking with his coworker without offering further assistance. They appear to be busy getting ready for Christmas inventory/restocking. I understand about performing your tasks while at work in order to organize, unload merchandise for the customers etc but does this become major priority over good customer service? So I walk over where he pointed me to and found another staff member who might be more helpful. I asked if they have envelope templates. She merely says. "I don't think so" and proceeds to restocking her area. At the very least when I was at Michael's in Lakewood, the staff member offered to look it up & informed me that they do not carry that item at their location but pointed me towards the Michael's at the Long Beach Town Center. This store has so much to offer in terms of hobby related items or for crafting. It appears fairly organized & the selections are plentiful. Price-wise it's comparable to Michael's. It is conveniently located across the Lakewood mall. This store used to be Vons eons ago. It is no wonder a lot of businesses are closing down when Amazon is much more efficient & with Prime it's free shipping. Plus, more importantly, when customer service is almost non-existent (the human interaction component when there are actual humans working at the shop) , why bother going to the physical store at all? Employees forget the reason they're employed which is mainly is due to customers who patronize the business. It should've been 2 stars for their lack of customer service skills but 1point added for their well stocked store. This store has the worst customer service. Do not ask for help with anything because everyone is mad that they have to help you. They are rude and dismissive. This was from three different employees on two different days. Yikes! What ruined your day? They don't even make eye contact. I asked (what appeared to be) a female supervisor a question and she responded with somewhere over there. What?! They definitely need some customer service, welcoming environment training. The store is packed full of Christmas and I love that. I come here a lot, they really have everything from baking needs to almost ever craft, kitchen decor and more. I'm giving them 4 stars because they don't sell Halloween decor. That's so strange to me but I understand it's because of religion. This was my first time at a Hobby Lobby! I don't know why I'd avoided it for so long, probably because Michaels always met my art and craftings needs that I never felt the need to stop by, but really glad I decided to check it out today. This store was big!! It looks like it wouldn't be from the outside, but the moment you walk in you can see a bunch of isles stocked with items. It's really well-organized too! It'd be super easy for this place to become clustered and messy, but it was pristine. There's a LOT. A lot of stuff, a lot of variety. Their floral collection was super impressive. Made me want to put together a fall collection of my own, maybe in the future. Definitely going to come here more often. I bought a container of modeling foam today because it is literally 1/4th the price of a similar container at Michaels. Going to test it out soon to see how it holds up, but I don't think I could complain much about it even if it was bad. It was only $4. They had EVA foam as well that I'd like to try one day, but I hope they have sales for this sometimes? Their 3mm is pretty affordable and competitive, but the 5mm makes it a bit pricey. May just stick to my local Michaels with coupons for that. The aisles are fairly small, but I had no issues with manuevering because while it wasn't empty there were so many isles it didn't matter haha. My only big complaint is that it took a while to check out, but that may be my fault for visiting on a Saturday at noon. It looked like a lot of people buying a lot of stuff for Fall. I've never felt so unwelcome in a store before. My mom and I went to the Hobby Lobby in Lakewood, CA just before closing, and we were aggressively told to leave--not once, but three separate times. One employee even followed my mom down an aisle to continue "kicking her out." When I brought it to the manager's attention, he smiled instead of taking it seriously. This was not just rude--it was intimidating and completely unprofessional. Being told a store is closed is fine. Being stared at, yelled at, and followed is not. Hobby Lobby is THE place for crafting supplies, with the best selection, prices, and service. My wife has been meaning to pull the trigger on getting a frame for a piece of Filipino art that my daughter gave to her last year. Off the shelf frames here are always at least 50% off the listed price (though since the frames are manufactured directly for Hobby Lobby, seems like a gimmick). They do have a custom framing department, where you can get help choosing a mat, and they will cut it for you while you wait (as long as your choice is in stock). It wasn't too busy, so was able to get it done in 20 minutes or so. The custom cut mat actually cost more than the frame. They will assemble everything for you as well (for a small charge), but my wife is good at things like that, so we just took the pieces home after paying for it in front with everything else. The checkout area is a little different, almost configured in a way to keep people apart (like a permanent aftereffect of COVID-era shopping). As an observation, it made it a bit harder to know which line to get into...but it wasn't too busy. read more

Perfect air conditioned spot to be at during this heat wave. Lots of people inside, but I feel like it's usually full of people anyways. I just wanted to take a look around since I was in that plaza. I ended up going up and down a lot of the aisles and found some signs for my friend's upcoming wedding. Cashier was very friendly. Line went quickly. Horrible customer service by the manager Steve! Spoke to a lady over the phone because they over charged us for some items and she said come on in and we will refund you the amount just bring in the items to over view it and it should be quick... I showed up right before closing and Steve gave me an attitude and told me they are closed and it's a lengthy process and it'll take 30 min and he doesn't have time for that. Lakewood, CA store on Harwick: The biggest problem with this store is the cigarette smoking. They have a guy that REEKS of cigarette smoke inside of the store. There are 5 handicapped spaces at the south end of the store. He either sits on the bench right next to the spaces or parks himself midway down the narrow walkway that leads from those spaces to the entrance. Today I lucked out and got a spot on the other side of the entrance. He was midway and even though he was 20 ft away and had thrown his STILL burning cigarette to the edge of the walkway and had gone inside, the entire entrance reeked of smoke. I stopped to talk to a young lady that said she was a manager and told her about it. She told me that management is not allowed to tell them where they can take a break. Seriously? Then he could take his smoke break inside of the store, if that were actually true. It is baloney. Management has every legal right to restrict areas from breaks and especially from smoking. They have a legal duty to protect customers from such things. I have encountered this guy MANY times outside smoking along the path, near the entrance or right next to the handicapped spots. I have had to vacate spaces/aisles he works inside of the store because he just reeks of smoke. I have watched others do the same. He has very long, thick hair, below the shoulder blades, and it gives the stench more places to hide. To make matters worse he is very rude and surly. I have a couple of friends that refuse to shop there and have witnessed many customers cringing over this habit. I have spoken up before and was told it would stop, but it hasn't. I'm guessing this young lady was just making an excuse. I've been wanting to take the leap to try and make curtains that go above my kitchen sink, so I went to my local Hobby Lobby (Lakewood) to take a look around. I was greeted in the fabrics dept by a sweet girl named Ana. I ended up telling her what I was thinking but also shared my apprehension. She was super helpful and reassuring because she clearly knew that I was pretty clueless! I made sure to mention that many times lol. She helped me with measurements and tips. This place is a love/hate relationship. I walk into this place and it feels like there is so much stuff. Some aisles are jam-packed, giving a clostrophobic feel. Signs, signs, signs...everywhere. Clever sayings, laundry sorting or superheros. There are more signs than the 405. Now, on to the crafts. Plenty to keep someone occupied. INTRO: I go to Hobo Lobo to shop. PERIOD. I am not a religious person and I know plenty of people who refuse to shop here based on questionable and hypocritical ethics. I get that but, my involving myself in the religious politics is not my thing. Completing projects that I "imagineer" is my daily and long term life goal. IMPRESSIVE: On Thursday, June 8, 2023 I entered the store looking for a few things to complete a massive wall mounted rack that would be home to all my herbs and spices, which are now numbering well over 40 bottles (I got the Walmart organic spices for the symmetry found in the bottles and refill as necessary from any source, since they are marked nicely). Well, at some point I came up with a decorative concept, which would require some faux spice plants, to accent it. As I serpentined through the floral department I was fortunate enough to come across an employee named Diamond. Fully defining her name, her knowledge of the store's inventory shown like the brightest of gems. Not only did she know exactly what I needed in her department by name before she even walked me to the items but, she also sent me to opposite of side of the store for a seasonal item that had, basically, just arrived (a lot of the fall items were still stacked in the floral department -- along the exterior aisles, unpacked). Normally, I would harbor some serious doubts when someone sends me away from their department of expertise, probably since, in my experience, customer service nowadays is a failure 7 or 8 out of 10 times... but, not here. PRAISE: Before leaving I spoke with a gentleman who may or may not have been a manager. I told him of the unexpected level of satisfaction I was leaving the store with... I need to say that I don't impress easy but, I will also say that I was quite prepared for my search to go on for most of the afternoon (mainly because I try not to utilize Amazon for everything). Also before exiting I approached Diamond and showed her what I had found on the other side of the store then I said something (in a tone loud enough for her nearby coworkers to absorb) to the effect of, "I dont know what kind of employee training program they got here but, you are like a superhero... cuz this was some kind of Avenger level thing." END GAME? The time that this woman saved me is the icing on the cake and it is what I will remember most about this tale. THE BAD SIDE OF THIS EXPERIENCE: One day Diamond's full potential will be realized by those in the know and I believe she will not be an associate in a floral department here or anywhere... people like myself will be happy for her success but, we will also comprehend the magnitude of what we will be losing.
