The Frame Department, especially the custom section, is excellent. The CSR framer was helpful with suggestions based on my image, size of piece and wire hanging requirements, The stock frames offer a variety of sizes and colors at very competitive prices and sometimes offer specials like buy one get one free. However if the piece requires more specific requirements, custom is the best option. Many color samples and designson the wall. Clear covers for specialty prints and photographs are available with varying properties, i.e.reduced glare. My frames were ready for pickup as promised on tine ready for pick up. Apointments are not mandatory but it is helpful to to check in before hand. read more

I had one of the most upsetting and humiliating customer service experiences of my life at the Michaels store located at 9140 S Western Ave, Evergreen Park, IL 60805. On December 22, 2025, I was in this store from approximately 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Management should be able to clearly identify all employees and the manager on duty during that time. I ordered a 24-inch helium-filled balloon for my child's birthday. Because this size was unavailable at my local store, I was instructed to place an order at this location, which required a 1.5-hour drive. When the employee brought out my order, the balloon did not float at all, clearly showing it was not properly filled with helium. Instead of taking responsibility, the employee repeatedly asked me where the balloon came from, even though I had ordered it online for pickup and did not personally select or prepare the balloon. It was baffling and completely inappropriate, and felt like a blatant attempt to avoid responsibility. I politely explained the issue. Instead of attempting to resolve it, the employee wandered around the store without urgency or accountability. Their overall attitude was extremely rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. I had initially left my young children waiting in the car, assuming this would be a quick correction. However, more than 30 minutes passed with no progress. When I had to bring my children inside due to the long delay, they became upset and started crying and throwing tantrums. Because of this delay, my other scheduled pickups -- including cake and other party supplies -- were also late, leaving me with a completely chaotic and stressful birthday party preparation. When I requested a refund, the process was again unreasonably delayed. Multiple employees were present, yet none took responsibility, and their behavior remained unprofessional and arrogant. I then asked to speak with a manager. The manager told me that the balloon "would not float because it was large," which is factually incorrect -- I have ordered 24-inch helium balloons many times from other retailers without issue. When I tried to explain this, I was spoken to condescendingly, interrupted repeatedly, and treated with overt hostility. At one point, the manager stated that if I was not "nice," a refund would not be issued. This felt like a clear abuse of authority and intimidation. Throughout the entire interaction, staff members spoke sharply, dismissed me, and mocked me among themselves in an extremely unprofessional manner. As I finally left after receiving the refund -- nearly one hour inside the store, on top of my long drive -- employees were laughing and smirking at me in front of my children, which was deeply humiliating. As an Asian customer whose first language is not English, being ignored, ridiculed, and treated with contempt by multiple staff members felt degrading, discriminatory, and completely unacceptable, especially in front of my children. This was not a single employee failing -- it reflected a store-wide failure in professionalism, accountability, and basic human decency during the time I was present on December 22, 2025, from 3:30-5:30 PM. I sincerely hope Michaels reviews this incident thoroughly, including staff behavior and management conduct, so that no other family experiences this kind of humiliating treatment. read more

I've haven't shopped at the store in quite a while, so I was unaware of the lax security at checkout. I chose to pay with cash instead of using a credit card. By the time the cashier finished scanning my items, a young man stepped up behind me and leaned his phone in front of my purse while showing her an item that he was looking for. She told him it was in the back of the store. Before she gave me my change, another young man appeared at the door stating that he was there for a pickup. She gave me my receipt with the change and took the second young man to find his item. I was suspicious about what happened at the check out so when I got in my car, I checked my phone by having my husband, who was sitting in the car, call me. The call failed to connect. I then tried to call him on my phone and the call failed. I returned to the cashier and told her that my phone wasn't working described the first young man and the second young man who she responded were "Uber drivers". I asked if she knew one of the driver's name and she responded "no". Security measures should be implemented such as having two people at check out to provide surveillance and to deal with store pickups from Uber drivers, while the other checks out customers. This particular store in Evergreen Park has absolutely atrocious service and utter disregard for following policies. Curbside order was marked as picked up although I nor anyone on my behalf went to pickup the order and was told that "anyone can just pick up from the bin" and "there's no way to confirm whether you sent someone to pick up the order." The woman sent me off to the 800 number to attempt to get a refund. Total disregard for my time or money. Now you know, just come here and pick up whatever you like from the bins because they don't verify the name on the order or listed authorized pick up person and confirm with their ID as is policy per Michael's website. Don't waste your time here unless you are taking other's orders that is! read more

I have never been more disappointed in a store and their customer service!!! I ordered a special frame of some of items from my son's last Sox game (he passed away in 2013) to surprise my husband for our 31st wedding anniversary. I was told that it would be completed by September 10th but would I called on that day I was asked, "did you receive an email stating that it was ready?" My receipt that I paid $169 stated that it was suppose to be ready on that date. I was told that someone would follow up with me and of course that did not happen! It took me ten calls before anyone answered and I was told that department is not open on Sundays. However, when I physically went in to place the order, it was on a Sunday!! read more

We love michaels in my home. My daughter does every art and or craft you could imagine Michaels keeps her supplies well stocked for a good price. Most days you can get in and out without much of a wait. They normally have coupons that we can use to lower our total. This store is great. read more

Let me start by saying that Michaels is one of my favorite craft stores. I have been to this particular location multiple times. I know the store like the back of my hand so I rarely need help. The ONE thing that I do need assistance with is picking up items that I order online. The items I order are usually large so they don't fit inside the bins that the store uses for "self serve customer pick up". I 100% of the time have to track someone down and ask for help with getting my items. The "help button" to request assistance is ignored. I totally understand when the store is busy but when there's one person in the self checkout line, that's a problem! 10 times out of 10 I have to ask the cashier for help which brings on an attitude because they have to help. I now get annoying feeling when I even think about going to Michaels. Two words...Hobby Lobby. read more

This location is just bad in every way. They have horrible customer service, it seems like there's no one even in the store. When you do find someone, they're stumped on the most basic questions and locations of items to help you. If you know exactly what you're going for and can go locate it easily, then fine. But if you're going with any basic questions like: "do you have an alcohol based markers", or "where do you keep your pencil cases?" you'll be met with "ummmmm's" and "uhhhhhhh's" as they lead you down every asile to check. Just avoid this headache of a location if you can. read more

Service is terrible, it's clear the employees hate their jobs, at least at this location. You are forced to use self checkout if you are using a credit card. Questions result in snarky answers - assuming you can even find someone to ask. Looks like I'm back at the dollar store. No service there either, but at least I'm not paying for fake sales - I.e. marking things up, say 100% , then claiming a 60% off sale. I'd bet nothing in their stores ever sell for "full" price. Either improve your service, or sell things at competitive prices. Bad service and high prices is not a good business model. read more

I'm submitting this review for this location because of the absolute offensive service I experienced in my adult life. I purchased a collage frame that would allow 5 pictures to be inserted. The frame was secured by 4 cardboard brackets in each corner of the frame that was secured by staples. Upon removing the staples, the frame fell apart, but left the glass in tact. I immediately went back to the store to make an exchange, but was told by, not 1 but 3 store employees that no items sold in the store can be exchanged, or returned for a refund once you cross the store door to the outside. They are no longer responsible, it belongs to the customer at that point. Then pointed me to a store policy that was in such small print you would need a magnifying glass to red it (please don't leave your glasses at home). They suggested I contact their corporate office for further discussion or see if one of the other stores would accept the return or exchange. I suggest to everyone not to consider doing any business with this particular store location due to the lack of professionalism, inexperience in customer service interaction, and interpersonal skills required in this kind of business environment!!!!! read more

Recently I had some items framed and they person framing it damaged my art. They reimbursed me for the original art and re-framed it for free when I got the replacement print. We are frequent shoppers at Michaels. This location isn't our go to location but they have the typical items that each store has. The store looks relatively new compared to the other locations we visit. The inside of the store is always clean and neatly organized. This location seemed to be short staffed compared to the others. There were only a couple employees on the floor and one or two at the registers. Furthermore, the staff isn't as engaging as other stores. But overall we had a good experience. read more

This was my first visit to this particular Michael's. I came in to purchase the Rainbow Loom for my daughter. When I first came in the line was extremely long and there was only one cashier. I spotted at least 5 other employees on the floor and no one came for back up. Once I found my item I browsed the store in hopes that the long line would go down. Unfortunately it didn't. I waited in line for at least 15 minutes! Once I left the store I realized there was a 40% off coupon posted on their site. So I went back into the store with my receipt and the coupon on my mobile device and waited in line yet again for another 15 minutes. Once I reached the counter, I explained to the cashier that I wanted the 40% off on the Rainbow Loom I just purchased since it was a regular priced item. And the cashier looks at my receipt and then tell me I need to bring the item back into the store. And then he said I would have to get back in line. So at this point I'm highly pissed! I go to my car to get the item and waited in line for ANOTHER 15 minutes. As soon as I reached the counter he then tells me that the Rainbow Loom is excluded from the offer. And once I read the very fine print it did state that the Rainbow Loom was excluded. I couldn't argue with that. But my issue was that when he first saw my receipt he KNEW I was inquiring about the Rainbow Loom. And the fact he made me go get the item and wait back in line just to tell me it was excluded was unbelievable!!! So now at this point I'm beyond pissed and ask to speak with a manger. I waited 45 minutes to speak with a manger! Her name was Estella and she was the night shift manager. So at this point my blood is boiling!!!! Once the manger approached me she said it took her so long because she was working with two customers in the framing department which takes time and she's the only person that can do that task. She apologized repeatedly and that wasn't enough for me. She explained that even if she tried to give me 40% of the Rainbow Loom it wouldn't go through which I believe she was lying! So she asked if I wanted to purchase anything else and receive 40% off. I immediately let her know that I would not spend another dime in that store and that on Monday morning I will be calling customer service to file a complaint. I have never been through such a long and irritating battle like this before. I could understand the cashier being an ass but not the manager as well. On both occasions that I've visited this store, I had the "pleasure" of experiencing service from a guy at the register named "KEVIN" (scribbled just like that in all caps on his name tag). The second time I saw him, I was honestly surprised to see that he was still working there. A woman in front of me was there with her two young children and I'm assuming she purchased an item by accident? She notified him of it and that just completely set him off. No one should have to experience such a terror. He angrily slammed items about the counter and when he couldn't find what he was looking for, he just dumped her shopping bag out on to the counter and the floor. He was swearing all the while doing this. The computer system in which he was using for the transaction wasn't working up to his standards, I suppose and so he was angrily smashing buttons and once even took the monitor's screen into his hands and shook it as if he was strangling it. I'm not making this up. I'm pregnant and immediately became defensive and a little afraid so I was just going to leave (thank God they opened another register). I was staring at him in disbelief! I said "Oh my God! That's so not necessary!". I couldn't believe he was acting like that. I was confused as to why no one is saying anything to him or about it. His angry interactions were startling and EXTREMELY unpleasant to say the least. The first time, I brushed it off and figured he probably was having a bad day and definitely wouldn't be there long. I was wrong. Everyone has bad days and no one's life is perfect but that doesn't give ANYONE the right to interact with strangers the way that he does. Just because you're mad doesn't give you the right to treat customers--especially women with children like an angry psycho. I rarely write reviews and but I LOVE Michael's Craft Store, but this store just doesn't make for a great shopping experience at all. I'm glad I no longer live in the area. I will just visit the one by my house from now on. No one there is ever exceptionally nice. Most are just very nonchalant and in Kevin's case, rude, angry and just downright terrible. I would never have someone like that working for me. I called today to talk to a manager and the guy didn't even apologize. His response was "oh, well I can tell the store manager about this and you can talk to her if you want to?". Like that's all his response was. Does anyone take pride in this store???
