I went into my goals to get some Garland for the summer as I'm changing out my decorations. I was surprised to see how much Easter and 4th of July stuff was already out. Easter stuff was already on sale which was great! I picked up some things I definitely didn't need. I was also very tempted to go ahead and start stocking it for the 4th of July.. I love that they have gone automatic with their checkout so it made the process really fast and easy. I also was excited to see that my account was still linked with my teacher discount and I did not have to get my card out. The value was amazing! Five stars for service! Specific shout out to one of their employees, Apollo! He knew exactly where to find what we were looking for, and was extremely personable and kind. He helped resolve a few small issues that came up when we were trying to do self check out, and Apollo was really calm throughout the process, even though there were several other people waiting, he did not make me feel rushed. Decent place for craft supplies and inspiration. They have a large selection of items for various DIY projects, baking, hobbies, decorating, and more. It is certainly overpriced and you can easily find the items cheaper online. However, it is convenient to find it here since sometimes you want to see and feel an item before purchasing it. Additionally they usually have sales and coupons. The frames in particular are nearly always discounted. Note that the Michaels coupons typically cannot be used on discounted items. The parking lot is large and I like the addition of self checkouts for most occasions. They tend to staff only one check-out lane so if you do need to talk with an associate it takes longer than usual. The store overall is organized well. If you are unsure where an item might be, I highly recommend asking for help before wasting your time looking for it. Somethings are in difficult to locate places. There have been a few items I hoped to find here, like fondant and EVA foam, that they either do not stock or are out of. Most of the time I can find what I need. I did have one return that was quick and easy. I have also used their pick-up option which is very convenient. Overall, a good option for craft supplies. read more

This is store is a total disaster and a mess. They should just close down. I have even emailed the company several months ago and NOTHING has changed. They are out of everything- shelves are not stocked and unopened boxes are everywhere. It's a disgrace. Staff that I have met are very nice but something is wrong there for sure!! I ordered a carousel for my wife at their online store. They sent the wrong item and it's been a bear to get it exchanged. Multiple emails back and forth with no resolution. You can't get through to anyone at their customer service number so I went to the store. The store informed me that seeing it was an online purchase I had to deal with it online. This is the first time I've ever shopped at Michael's and I'am beyond frustrated. While this will certainly be the last time I shop at Michael's I think I'll just contest it with my credit card company. I wish I could rate them with less than one star. read more

I have shopped at Michaels for over 30 years, and in multiple states. My experience has been consistent regardless of the location; they're always well-stocked and customer service is excellent. If you need art supplies, needlework, scrapbooking supplies, picture frames, Wilton baking supplies, florals or some holiday decor (their Christmas stock is wonderful!) or custom franing, you can find it here. Prices are reasonable and be sure to check their website and sales flyers for coupons. I shop at this store the most often because it's closest to my house. The staff is great and very helpful. I've used their custom framing service twice, once for wedding photos and for a print I purchased at an art fair that wasn't a standard size. They cropped it, matted it and made it look even better - like a more expensive piece. Highly recommend. read more

This store has the best crafting items, I also love being a rewards member because I get the best coupons that save me even more money on already great prices. This is my go to store for my soap base as I create my own soaps for my family and friends, especially the honey and goat milk for face soaps.. the soap scent is great too for bath soaps. I'm going to be a bit generous on this review as I know they're dealing with the repercussions of covid right now. I purchased an order online and it came to my home a month ago. I had an issue with a few broken items and it took me a few days of waiting on hold and and email chats to get the items reordered. I had a few items to return and was told that when a store reopens to take it there. It's also posted in their guidelines and protocol online. I finally got the chance to go to my nearest store and loaded up my 3 little kids and drove 30 min. I get to the store a few minutes after opening time and there is a line on the sidewalk as they didnt seem to open on time. We wait in the car for a few minutes then go in. I walk straight to the cash wrap only to be told they cannot accept returns. I told them I was advised to come in so they said they would make an exception. I said thank you and waited patiently while the clerk attempted to process my return and kept getting frustrated. I felt like she was taking out her frustration on myself in those moments, I tried to say thank you often, but she still acted unkind with her mannerisms. I had wanted to do some shopping and but more projects/activites for my children, but I felt so unappreciated as a customer that I just left after. I was very disappointed in this interaction and I would've normally given 1-2 stars for an experience such as this, but I'm going to give 3 as I know they're dealing with extra stress right now. read more

This is a standard Michael's. It seems very similar to the one in Crossroads in Cary, however I have found this one better stocked. It's not as crowded, either, and I'm sure those two facts are related ;-) This is a good place place to come for basic art supplies. If they have it, the price will be about as cheap as anywhere else. If you need anything beyond the basics (though it can be surprising what they do carry here), then try a specialty art supply store. I had to buy some things for an art class. The Cary location had the specific paper I needed, but not the brushes or inks. This store had these (but not the smaller package of paper--go figure). read more

I'm basing this review primarily on my wife's recent experience at this location with an "art class" she signed up for. She was looking forward to attending and showed up well before the scheduled start time, and had time to purchase the required supplies for the class, which she did. Well, the time for the class came and no one else showed up, not even the instructor. An employee in the area was asked about it and she told my wife she would "go check" to see if a class was being held. The employee came back and said that she had not heard from the teacher and that the teacher was not even qualified to be instructing the class. WTH. How unorganized and unprofessional can you be after advertising for something like this? There was supposedly another class the next night but my wife did not bother to go back, obviously. But the store did gain a little income from the sale of the items my wife bought - that's really what these free classes are about. So, if you decide to sign up for a class at Michael's, you might want to rethink it. read more
