The shop also has a great selection of notions, project bags and needles/hooks. Staff is very helpful, with suggestions on weight, colors and projects. I love the range of yarns in this store, with the focus on natural or blended fibres with few (if any?) pure acrylics and a good number of locally spun or dyed yarns. They also regularly have good sales on high-quality yarn available. Their COVID measures have been great, with only a small number of people allowed in at a time, hand sanitizer available and masks on, and on top of it they have maintained great customer service for both face to face and phone orders.

They also have many knitting supplies (needles and such as well as fun (and pricey) needle cases) and cute little accessories for your knitted goods (buttons, etc.). If you've got cash to burn and have a very special project in mind, this would be the place to go!

Dedicated to supplying artists, advertising agencies, local art schools and DIY crafters since 1950 and with branches across Canada you can find fairly much everything you might need to get creative in this creativity complex. In my experience, it's great to chat with the staff here about what you're working on or looking for. The organization is a bit complex because they have so much stuff, so it's helpful to have one of the wise young art students leading you around, plus: adorable. The vibe in here is clean, bright and modern, not at all the inspiring sense of dripping with history and the labours of love as you find in true old school places like Pearl Paint in NYC, but it gets the job done in style. Some items suffer from the usual Montreal markup, but they make up for it by having in-house brands for things like sketchbooks that are really cheap.

The shop carries nicer, higher-end yarns. There are a lot of knitted samples to pique your creative interest. I didn't try their tea and pastries, but they have a nice, small selection. I bought a few items that were specific to La Maison Tricotée. The staff was so nice, welcoming, and helpful. I would recommend La Maison Tricotée to knitters, crocheters and yarn lovers. Even if you are not, but need to buy a gift for one, the helpful employees would give you guidance.

The young lady working that day showed me all around when I asked about local, hand dyed yarns and told me interesting things about each brand. I had a delightful cup of tea and even though it was nearing closing time, I never felt rushed. She even helped me choose a great place to go to dinner and recommended a great bar to visit with a cool atmosphere I loved (Darling bar). But then she really went above and beyond when my uber driver called and she spoke to him for me in French. I ended up needing to request another driver and she offered me to wait inside the store out of the cold rain while he arrived even though the shop was closing. On top of that, I bought beautiful yarn! I am so glad to have things to remember from this shop. Many yarn stores have fabulous yarn but it's customer service like this that makes people fall in love with the store. (The tea and baked goods don't hurt either.) How I wish it was my LYS and that I didn't live hundreds of miles away. I hope I get to visit it again. In the meantime, do yourself a favor and visit this store!

They charge by the different canvas sizes they have, and the time you get there is unlimited. What I went for was making decoden! You can get unlimited charms for a fixed price and you're charged for full or half coverage case. I had a great time and the owners were super attentive and helpful in teaching you the techniques! They also gave us all the time we needed to complete it. The experience itself was wonderful and so fun! I gave 4 stars because it was a bit pricy ($40 base, I ended up paying $50 tax +tip) but if you factor in the raw materials plus tutorial and time, it's quite reasonable.
