I'm baffled by our experience at this Michaels. We brought three teen girls who love art and were quietly testing markers on the butcher-style paper that was provided in the marker aisle. When they drew a small doodle (non-offensive or malicious) and apologized immediately when told it was not allowed - an employee (a man in his 40s/50s) approached them and spoke to them in a condescending way. He lingered, brought another customer into the interaction, and made comments about teenagers to the other customer - despite the moms unbeknownst to them - being right there the whole time. A different employee later told us there even are "special sensors" in that aisle and implied police have been called about marker use. She said it was vandalism. That contradicted the visible situation (the aisle was covered with paper and marker testers) and she couldn't explain why no signage warns customers if it is such a big issue. I called corporate for the first time in my life - and they were surprised by how extreme the store's explanation sounded. This felt unnecessary and humiliating for children who were respectful and apologetic. We will not be returning to this location. If you have teens who enjoy art, I'd recommend trying the Cobb Parkway store instead. read more

It is difficult to find knowledgeable employees to help you find store items, and sometimes the store is completely out of items or discontinues them and employees have no idea what the customer is asking about. You have to circle the store about 3 times to be sure you aren't overlooking what you need. Frustrating. read more

From out of town picking up a few items and the service was good. We were in town visiting my Son and his family and after dinner at Beni's Cubano, my daughter-in-law ahd a couple of things she needed to pick up at Michael's Store is well organized and staff is friendly. Inventory is very good and well stocked. We shop at Michael's a lot in Mooresville and this is on parr with the Mooresville location. Prices are also very good. For craft items, this definitely needs to be on your list of stores to frequent. read more

This is a great Michaels! The employees are always very friendly and acknowledge all store coupons. The COVID-19 percautions in place are great as well, masks required and lots of social distancing. Definitely much safer to shop at than Hobby Lobby with COVID-19. read more

My sister and I came here just a minute ago and we wanted to purchase something using our $5 off coupon but it wouldn't work so my sister asked the cashier ( older woman with blonde hair, red lipstick and big glasses) if they had any other coupons. This lady starts yawning and says there were some yesterday and just yawns and stares. Custom framing -- of which this review is about -- is expensive. But if you have art that you value, you'll see a major difference in professional framing, vs. something readymade, off the floor. I've brought several pieces into Michael's over the last few months. Since I keep coming back, I'm obviously pleased with the results. I've realized however, that some employees are more knowledgeable than others (though you wouldn't necessarily know it, when you leave your art.) Some employees are also a bit slipshod when it comes to pricing. Since everyone is very nice and helpful, I'm not naming names. But I know who I'm going to ask for, when I come back here. I have shopped here and at their previous store over the years. I think they always have good inventory and the staff is almost always helpful. Prices are always reasonable and they do provide good coupons periodically. People should realize that it's not a super expensive store and they should lower their expectations accordingly. They are struggling like most businesses during this Covid mess. Very difficult to get fully staffed in this neighborhood area and economic times. Extremely incompetent staff, including the manager Melissa or Alyssa, couldn't quite hear what her name was. The Michael's website listed an item in stock. Arrived and found the shelf empty, asked sales associate at the register about the item. Associate (long blond hair, teenager annoyed tone to voice) was dismissive and refused to help. Called for Melissa the manager, said she could not leave the register. Melissa never arrived. However Rhonda, an older woman sales associate walked up and made sure to let me know she wasn't the manager and refused to get involved in helping. When the manager never came to help the disinterested blond sales girl claimed the computer was wrong and the item was likely still on the truck from earlier in the week but they wouldn't be finished unloading until probably Friday. She said if it wasn't on the truck then it was probably in the back but refused to go check. Also claimed the website can take days to update the stock, but then contradicted herself multiple times. I will NEVER go back to this store. Get a new manager and new staff or this location is going to close too. read more

"Oh, well aren't you just... crafty." -- The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004) I heart my crafty side. You know what I heart even more? Michael's moving into the most gigantic space of ALL TIME! Oh wow. The previous location for this store was always a jumbled mess and items always seemed to be out or out of place, but not anymore! Taking over a previous bookstore...(Borders or Barnes & Noble), I'm like a kid in a candy store! This place is HUGE! Spread out, wider aisles, spic 'n span! Love it! And the lay out of the registers with a neat and tide line so you can wait your turn instead of jockeying for position - even better! I walked in needing exactly ONE item - grey or silver icing spray. I was in East Cobb, so I came to this Michael's - really not knowing what to expect. I knew it had moved since the last time I had been here the sign said it was moving in a week. So easily I drove to the new location. I walked in and noticed the baking section was right in front of me. I walked up and spotted the item right in front of my face. Right next to it, I noticed glitter sugars that would also be perfect for the cake I was making - so I grabbed them. I walked directly to the register and paid for my items. Easy peasy. No muss, no fuss. In and out in less than 5 minutes. I don't think I have ever said that about Michael's - certainly NOT this location. Well done. Place is slammed on weekends. But at least this store seems to put on enough cashiers to handle it. The kinda place that can be overwhelming if you don't have a pretty good idea of what you want going in. Stuff is stocked according to brand more than anything else, which means that roughly identical products can be aisles away from each other. Perfect example: spray paint and masking tape. Which of course was exactly what I hunting up. I knew there was such a thing as pin-stripe masking tape. I knew it would be near paint. Found some "artists' masking tape" with the same branded oil canvas paints for $17.99. No. Several aisles over found the Krylon spray paint -- all under lock and key, making it impossible to read the specifics of the contents. Non-starter there -- and no tape there. Head over to the modeling section. Bingo. Testors masking tape in a 1/16 /1/8 and /1/4in three-pack was exactly what I had in mind and was only mildly crazy at $11.99. Plus the Testors spray paint display next to it had had its lock popped open, allowing close inspection of the paints. Electric Pink should do the trick (it is for a trem arm of a guitar, if you must know) and at $4.99 not completely nuts. Bottomline, this place stocks stuff that no one else is gonna have so I have to concede that, but plan on spending some time hunting it up. PS -- Whomever designed The Avenue parking lot was a straight-up sociopath. Be careful. read more

I love this location! It is always well organized. I am a general crafter that bounces around doing different projects. I am usually always able to find what I'm looking for or someone to help me find it. As in any place you go some associates are more knowledgeable than others, but I can't expect every associate to know everything about every product, that would be unreasonable to expect. But I have found a select few that have helped me that are amazing & taken the time to walk to what I need, explain what I need, & how to use it. Overall, great place, they usually good sales, coupons can be found right on their website, & this location is usually very organized. read more

This Michaels use to be located where the Kmart is, but now it's located in the Avenue East Cobb with Bed Bath and Beyond, Menchies, and other shops. This is a decent Michaels to wander around in. It's large like most Michaels so finding items quickly will probably require asking for help unless you've memorized the store's layout. It's hard to walk out of here without buying anything, especially if you like to stay busy and do projects (being a kid at heart I still like to draw and color). The baking section is smaller than most, but there are still interesting things to pick and choose from, such as holiday sprinkles and pans. Checking out can be a bit slow even when the line isn't super long, so just look around at all the small items kept by the registers to occupy your wait. This is the absolute worst store for customer service. If the website shows they have something in stock (while standing there in person) and they can't find it on the floor they won't even look in the back. They say the website is wrong. When you try to call to inquire about something, the hang up on you- three times! Just unmotivated, apathetic associates. read more

I am so done with Michael's and their stupid coupons. I tried to use the 20% off coupon but the small print stated that you could not use it for books. Once I read the small print it excluded 90% of the products in the store. What good is that. The manager and the check out clerk were no help. I will never shop at a Michaels again they would rather only give you 20% off the product that they bring in from China not a book printed in the USA! Shame on you Michael's you have lost a customer and where is your loyalty to me the consumer. I will only order from Amazon and get my yarn from Joann's and Hancock Fabrics. NO MORE MICHAELS! Ordered something online to pick up the next day and you have to stand in line to get your on line orders. The whole point of ordering online is to get in and out quickly and avoid the lines. Other locations have the online pickup in the framing department which is much more convenient. Also not enough clerks working (especially during the holidays) so lines are longer here. read more

This is the largest Michaels I have ever been too. The workers are nice and they have craft party area for events. Huge selection of frames and flowers. They don't really have any fabric though. They have a sizable baking section. read more

This Michael's is terrible. I've been there 3 times now and I don't know why I keep going. Each time I go there's a different issue. They no longer take competitor coupons. Another time they refused to give me a clearly marked discount on frames. Also their selections are limited, especially yarn. The managers are rude. There is one cashier that is super nice! I wish I could remember her name. But overall the worst Michael's I've ever been too. I'd rather drive out if my way to go to Joanne's or hobby lobby. read more

I went in for some art supplies. I really thought they would have a better selection of sketch pads and pencils. I settled for what they had and am not happy! However, they were available and were able to help me get done with the project in a reasonable amount of time. I signed up for a beginners knitting class online about a week before the class. When I arrived to the store I asked an associate to help me locate where the class would be held. After some checking she asked me to wait because the instructor had not shown up yet. After about 5 more minutes the manager approached me and told me that the instructor had a "family emergency" and would not be holding the class today. He said that she was told to contact all the class participants but apparently hadn't gotten to me. The inconvenience and lack of professionalism is what's making me give them 1 star out of a possible 5 today. Because no other times worked with my work schedule I asked for a refund even though I would have rather loved to learn a new hobby. I was really looking forward to the class and am extremely disappointed. It took a good 30 mins after the class was supposed to start to sort everything out. read more
