I had a very disappointing experience during my daughter's school field trip to the San Francisco Zoo on June 2, 2026 (Bus #82-11). From the moment we boarded the bus, the female driver spoke to the children, who were only 6 and 7 years old, in a very aggressive and intimidating tone. She repeatedly shouted rules such as "No food on my bus" and "No talking on my bus." The children were excited for their field trip, but many became quiet, nervous, and visibly afraid because of the way she spoke to them. Throughout the ride from Hayward to San Francisco, she continued making harsh announcements and telling students they were too loud. Even some teachers commented that her tone was uncomfortable and intimidating. At one point, I told the teachers that the children did not seem to feel safe or comfortable because of the driver's behavior and the way she was speaking to them. Many of the students appeared frightened rather than simply being reminded of the bus rules. My daughter briefly stood up to hand something to a friend, and I immediately helped her sit back down. When we arrived at the zoo, the driver kept my daughter beside her until I got off the bus. Then, in front of students, parents, and teachers, she publicly criticized my daughter and me. I politely responded that I would talk to my daughter about following the bus rules, but instead of accepting my response, the driver raised her voice and continued speaking to me in a disrespectful manner. What upset me the most was being publicly humiliated in front of everyone. The driver then told me I would not be allowed to ride the bus back home and that I would need to find another way home. She later repeated this to the teachers. This completely ruined what should have been a happy day with my daughter. The driver's behavior seemed unusually hostile and unpredictable throughout the trip, which raised serious concerns for me about how students were being treated. My concern is based on her actions and the effect they had on the children, not just on my family. My daughter was deeply affected by the experience. When we got home, she told her father how scared she was of the driver and said she does not want to go on another field trip because of how frightened she felt. As a parent, I believe children should feel safe and respected during school activities. Unfortunately, this experience was the opposite. I also felt singled out and disrespected. I contacted the transportation company after the trip but never received a response. I hope this feedback encourages better training, professionalism, and accountability so that no other child or parent has to experience what we did. read more

The drivers need to learn better customer service. One of these buses were parked in an area in Oakley that's supposed to be provided for special ed pickup in a school zone and so I parked in front of the bus because those were the only spots left, five minutes later the bus horn goes off and I look to see what's going on and the driver is aggressively shaking his arms for me to move out of the way and has a nasty look on his face like hes angry and frustrated. I know I didn't do anything wrong. I parked where I was supposed to but moved anyway. Buses can get through there all the time no problem. They need to be nicer about it. Horn to get attention is fine. The aggression and facial expression isn't. read more

Our church rented a large school bus from Michael's Transportation on the past Sunday for a prayer tour around our city, It was a fantastic experience. The bus showed up an hour early. which is beyond our expectation. The driver is so nice and friendly to work with. He drove professionally and patiently. All our people even gave him a round of applause at the end of the tour. We especially appreciate their help to secure the bus in less than 2 days, the bus company we booked earlier can't make it at the last minute, and Michael's Transportation is willing to help in an expeditious way to make our tour possible. I commute along highway 24 regularly. I repeatedly see Michael's Transportation School buses illegally taking the offramp, not exiting and getting right back on the freeway to cut ahead of traffic. It is illegal, unsafe and very irritating. I can only imagine how these drivers act when not in traffic or with a full load of kids. I think they need to have a talk with their drivers. Terrible service. Working for a non profit organization, we had them bus a group of kids. They did not complete their job. They did not come in time to pick up the kids and we had to call the company and they said it would take another 30 minutes on top of the 30 minutes the students had already been waiting. The driver was stuck in traffic. How can you not accommodate for traffic when running this kind of business? The students couldn't wait because parents were coming to pick them up so they had to walk back. How can you make students walk and parents wait? We asked for a refund but they charged us for half the time because they did "half the job". I would not be doing business with them if I knew I would only be getting half the job done. Wow.... I almost don't have a vocabulary vast enough to describe how ridiculously bad my experience with MTS's bus service was. July 5th was an exercise in patience, endurance, and inebriation as I tagged along on this perpetually overheating, barely-functioning bus to and from the mountain town of Graeagle with the remarkable men of the Ophir Prison Marching Kazoo Band & Temperance Society, LMTD. It really speaks to the character of those characters that the 13+ hours spent with them, crammed like foul-mouthed sardines into that fiasco of a vehicle, was some of the most memorable fun I've had in months. We moved at an almost imperceptible crawl up any hill steeper than a few degrees, and had to stop at least half a dozen times on the way there (sometimes ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, blocking traffic and putting our lives in jeopardy). The band I was traveling with missed over half of their scheduled event, and the drive back was no better. The bathroom was something out of a horror movie -- at least 115 degrees, with a stench that literally made grown men tear up; the windows couldn't roll down and the heater kicked on every time the engine got hot, so we were basically stewing in our own juices for over 10 hours; even though the bus appeared to be equipped with a CD player and small screens, SHOCKINGLY, this wasn't functioning. My husband and I used Michael's Transportation to shuttle our guests from their hotel to our wedding outside of Occidental this past July. We wanted a school bus and this was one of the only options in the area. The bus was about 30 minutes late to pick our guests up. Our wedding was in an area without cell service, and the driver did not seem familiar with the route. It sounded like some of the details hadn't been communicated from the office to the driver. Our guests had to direct him several times. Once the bus arrived, my husband chatted with the driver to make sure he was clear on when to pick people up after the reception, and everything on the way home went smoothly. All in all, things worked out and I would still recommend this service. But, especially if your event is somewhere without good cell reception, be sure to confirm that the driver will have printed directions. read more

We used Michael's for our guest transportation to our wedding which started picking up 2 hours before the event, at a location 1 hour away, stopping at three hotel locations. Overall, I think they did a good job once they got past the first stop; however, they were running 30 minutes late, but luckily I had built in enough of a buffer in the schedule. In retrospect, I think having someone riding the bus managing the driver's schedule would make things much smoother. I had planned out a detailed schedule with the all of the stops and timing, but I'm not sure that it made it from the back office to the driver. I'm glad that I posted the schedule online for my guests riding the shuttle as I think it helped them keep him on track. Mostly I am happy that my guests were able to imbibe and made it to and from the event safely without their transportation costing a fortune. read more

LATE. LOST. DANGEROUS. Our school scheduled pickup for 8:00. One bus arrived on time. The other arrived an hour late. The bus that left with half the kids GOT LOST on the way and ended up trundling down neighborhood streets trying to get back on the freeway. The bus that arrived late's driver was swerving all over the road up to Lawrence Hall of Science, apparently nearly clipping oncoming cars on numerous occasions. On the way back, the second bus again was swerving all over, clipped a curb, blew a tire, and came to rest against the side of a hill. Parents who had driven their cars were called back to offload as many kids and adults as possible so the remaining kids could be crammed into the first bus. Thankfully everyone arrived home safely three hours late from a one hour journey.... and pretty sure Michael's will charge for the whole trip! Not expecting a Google bus, but they should be able to provide safe, competent, timely service, not this mess. I wish "Seven on Your Side" or one of the other stations would investigate them. read more

Saw one of their yellow busses on the freeway driving like a crazy fool in the rain. The driver cut me and several other cars off and was swerving in and out of lanes. It was raining really hard and the driver continued to speed at cut people off. When I finally caught up to the bus he was driving well over 75 mph in the rain. It was bus #7815 traveling on I-680 heading towards Vallejo in CA. I called theVallejo office to report this driver and the receptionist hung up when I said I was calling to complain about a driver. I called back and got the after hours recording. People stay away from this company. Take into account my review and all the other bad reviews about this company. I was an employee of Michael's Transportation after I completed my training through them, which I had some great trainers. Unfortunately, when they switched to new MANAGEMENT it seems the respect and mannerism that started the company faded with the change. It went from family type oriented to corporate overnight. The new Operation Manager was very condescending and had a lack of respect for Driver's, which holds the same for the new owner. I just was told quote on quote, "We are going to terminate you but when your transportation situation changes we have plenty of work available." . Really, seriously? How do you terminate someone and still have work available for them? Which one is it? And when my transportation situation changes what reason would I have to come back to your company? This is a wonderful company to work for overall because it is employee owned, yet it is operated by some of the most unprofessional individuals in the world whom are very rude and disrespectful, so anyone applying here just pick and choose your battles. This review is for working with Michael's Transportation Service staff. I was looking for a cost-effective way to transport a group of approximately 100 wedding guests to a remote ceremony site. Michael's had by far the best rates on their fleet of schoolbuses. I worked with Barbara to secure the reservation, and she was extremely clear and helpful as we walked through all the logistical details. I really appreciated their attention to detail with regard to wedding charter buses, their incorporation of all-important buffer time to ensure they would arrive on time and the gratuity for the driver. I'm disappointed to say that I wasn't able to complete this contract with them, not due to any issue on Michael's Transportation end. Turns out that the buses were too big to navigate the park roads, and by the time we realized this, Michael's didn't have any alternate forms of transportation that suited our needs. The worst charter transportation experience I've ever had, by a cavernous margin. This was supposed to be a 3-hour bus ride up past Truckee, but as soon as the bus started to go uphill, it overheated, which turned on the heater to dump excess engine heat. In the middle of summer. With windows that don't open. And then we had to stop, repeatedly. What was supposed to take 3 hours took over 5 with I-lost-track-of-how-many stops there and back. When our organization contact them about any sort of a refund or discount for our trouble, their only response was, "buses sometimes break down". You know, I understand that, but as a transportation company, you need to make sure that your vehicles are in safe, working order. If they're not, well, then you're not quite holding up your part of the bargain and something needs to be done to make the situation whole again. To add insult to injury, the DVD player was broken, so we couldn't watch any of the movies we had brought along. Side note: The bus driver was great, no complaints about him. read more

Michaels got us there and back in one piece, but the bus seemed on the verge of breaking down the whole time, with the odor of boiling coolant frequently filling the front of the bus. We were on steep, windy mountain roads and the driver chose to drive down the center of the road with the double yellow line between his tires. I couldn't figure out why he was doing this, since the bus would fit in the right hand lane. The worst though was that there were lots of bicycles coming the other way and the driver would steer the bus across the double yellow line towards each bicyclist as it came by, sometimes to within a couple of feet. I became convinced the driver was trying to run them off the road. To be clear, these weren't bicycles on our side of the road. He was going WAY out of his way to harass them. Not that he should harass them on our side, but this was blatant. read more

I have had several big issues with this company--Michael's Transportation out of Vallejo--a scheduled, paid for bus not showing up at all, leaving 50 people waiting and then having the anticipated trip cancelled, several late arrivals--20 minutes and 30 minutes past the scheduled departure times, but yesterday's trip back to Davis from Oakland was the worst! On a 99 degree day, the AC did not work. The temp inside the bus by the time we got back to Davis was 93 degrees. We had a bus of senior citizens suffering from heat issues. I was told by the driver that this bus has had AC issues before. Yet on a horribly hot day, we were sent this same bus. To be fair, we have had some issue free pleasant trips, but EVERY trip should be a comfortable safe experience. As Transportation Coordinator for a non-profit organization, I will not charter with this company in the future. read more
