Bay Hill is the best driving school in the Bay Area. I know that's saying a lot, but truth be told, I had such a great experience here. I'm a freshly 20 year old female without any experience behind the wheel, and I mean any!! Unfortunately, my nerves got the best of me during my first lesson and I freaked out. I caused myself and my instructor some stress, and sadly I was unmotivated to drive for a while. Before I left a negative review, I contacted Bay Hill's through email. They made things right and scheduled my second appointment with JP, and he was fantastic! I went from shaking like a leaf behind the wheel to having genuine confidence in 2 hours-- No exaggeration! We drove around and shared a heartfelt conversation, in which he also shared some tips on lane switching and turns. Halfway through our session, we stopped for water and stretches, so I knew my comfortability was respected. The negative reviews on this business are so upsetting. This is an excellent Asian-owned, woman-owned small business with so much diversity on their staff. If your first lesson goes awry, contact them!!! My instructor was a bit of a nightmare who didn't talk me through any steps, she just told me to start driving right away and harshly corrected anything I did wrong. She would smack gum, eat food, and generally had an attitude of not caring. Only until my last class did she run me through a couple of rules but I never really learnt anything under her teaching. It was high pressure and everything I learned was like being tested without knowing there was a test or what the material was on. The only saving grace here is that the people at the office are great, they kindly signed my second permit and gave me another learning certificate for $25 when I lost my first one. Had a mixed experience here. Did three sessions with two different instructors, one of them being much more helpful than the other. I had not driven before and was looking to learn how to properly operate a vehicle, and for the first and third sessions I was not getting that. I believe the instructors name was Steven. He was very curt and didn't teach me things that we really should have gone over while driving, like where blind spots were, what different buttons on the car did, and I got very little feedback while actually driving. We were low on gas at one point during our third lesson and instead of just telling me where to go he pretty rudely would just take control of the car instead of talking me through where to go. This was extra frustrating because you should already be filled up on gas before doing something like this. It felt like I was being tested instead of taught. My second session however was much more helpful. JP was incredibly supportive and I felt significantly more confident and in control behind the wheel. He went over hand signals, safe ways to check blind spots, and talked me through the things I was doing on the road with lots of patience. We also took a very nice break at the office where we could recharge before heading back home. Fantastic experience with him! Overall I think they need to have a more clear, laid out education plan instead of just fitting you with whatever random instructor is available and make the things the instructors are teaching consistent for all sessions. read more

My son had his behind the wheel test at Fremont DMV and passed at the first attempt. Besides taking driving lessons with BayHill, we also rented their car on the day of the test. We had the good experience with Hashim, his third instructor who also went with him for the DMV test. He met Hashim 50 mins before the test, and they went over the pre-test check and also practiced on the actual DMV test routes. Hashim was patient in answering his questions and clarifying any doubts. I'm taking 1 star off because their service is not consistent across all instructors, so your experience is highly dependent on the driving instructor. For example, the first instructor was 30 mins late and second instructor bluntly said "ask you son what I said", when we asked for his evaluation of our son's driving. Having said that, I would recommend Hashim if you want a patient, reliable, thorough and communicative instructor. read more

What a true blessing Bay Hill Driving School was for me. I had a small window to work with to take my test before I moved. My main instructor was booked out and also went on vacation, so I thought I would miss the chance to take my test. I found Bay Hill on Yelp and decided to book them for two things: 1. A two hour crash course in preparation of my test. 2. Vehicle rental for the test + 30 minute prep before. The two hour crash course was perfect. My instructor was calm, gave great instructions and made it so easy to feel comfortable behind the wheel. He was able to frame things that I needed work on in a way that I was able to process and internalize. By the end, he had me Feeling confident going into my big day. The day of my test, I met with JP at the DMV 45 minutes before my appointment. He walked me through the car I rented and what to expect for pre-test check (which was exactly how it went down, so I was well prepared for it.). Then we did some practice runs of the test route while JP very detailedly pointed out things I need to do and what examiners will look for during the test. Then he lined up with me until it was my turn. The entire time, he patiently answered any questions I had and it's clear from my time with him that he loves what he does and genuinely does his best to make you feel as confident and prepared as you can be for your test. Long story long, I passed my test and JP and the Bay Hill Driving School team deserve credit even though I only took two lessons with them. As an adult going for their license, you deal with way more self-doubt and anxiety than your younger counterparts, but these guys were able to quell a lot of that in the brief time I worked with them. I entrusted this "school" with our teen's driving success since we used them for our other two teenagers in the past. However the recent experiences have left a bad taste in my mouth to say the very least. We paid for the Teen Driver Training Package which was $300+ and is advertised as "Easy, fast & fun!". Not quite the experience that we paid for!! There were a total of three "lessons" being two hours each; the first instructor was fine. The second instructor, which was a male, had our teenage daughter stop by his house 'real quick' during the lesson and also forgot his drivers license completely. How is any of this ok?! The third "instructor" Veronica was extremely rude and unhelpful to the point that our teenager was crying when they got home. She literally laughed at our teen instead of actually TEACHING like she was paid to do! Our teen was scheduled for the behind the wheel test the next day and was so upset after the lesson that I had to reschedule due to the level of stress and anxiety caused! I find it absolutely unacceptable that I am paying for and entrusting these adults to teach and guide our teen as required by the state of California but instead am feelings like this is all a joke instead! Shame on you - if you have something personal going on, leave it at home! Get off of your cell phone, get out of the bathroom talking on the phone, don't have my teenager drive you to your house . . . . all are nothing that I should be paying for!! I called to ask a question regarding my specific situation, they said they would call me back with an answer. They didn't. I called again a few days later, and just asked to schedule one lesson, so I was able to do that. I asked for Stacie (Stacy?) specifically, they said okay. Well here comes my lesson and a guy calls me saying he will be here in 5min. He says he had no idea Stacie was supposed to do my lesson. Fine. To his credit, he was nice. Friendly. Difficult to understand but we managed. He did give me wrong information about the testing itself (for the VDT). Overall, it wasn't worth the money I paid. This is an amazing school to learn driving from! I learned from Gurmeet and she helped me be super confident with being behind the wheel. I learned so much from her and it was a blessing to have her as my teacher. She was very patient with me and very calm when teaching me. JP brought me to the DMV for testing and gave me many pointers on how to correct the things I was having trouble with. He taught me how to correct my turns and it was extremely helpful! Update- they called me yesterday and refunded my money. It seems that they are short staffed and they had to cancel lessons in order to keep the DMV appointments. I appreciate the fact that there are unplanned events and shortage of staff, however all you have to do is set the right expectations. If I had been contacted on Monday as promised, I would have easily understood and waited to set up the driving lessons for my son. Not communicating with the clients is not a winning strategy. I hope they get the staff they need to run the business ---------- This is a scam, there is no one in the office nor answering the phone. I paid $307.67 on Saturday, called three times, left messages and no one has called me back. I decide to drive to the office and it is closed, there is no sign of activity. After going through 6 hours of driving training with our oldest child, no certificate was mentioned or provided to us. The first we found out about it was at the DMV, the morning of the driving test. Bay Hill refused to take responsibility for this error, lamely saying that it was a miscommunication on their end. Had couple of Tutors Gurmeet and Syed over 3 lessons and I felt that the lessons were productive and gave me enough experience to pass the behind the wheel test. I also suggest a 1-2hr refresher before the test. The tutor gave me a lot of tips that really helped out. Overall sessions always started on time, tutors were patient and professional. I just had my 2 hour crash course lesson today. The instructor was very precise, patient and clear about the key points and steps to passing the driver's test. I feel very confident about my driving skills now. INSTRUCTORS/5 STARS: They were great. My kid really learned a lot and they were great with my kid. BUSINESS/3 STARS: I scheduled time with them because they were highly recommended. I, the parent, scheduled the lessons for my kid. Date and time were set: Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Done. All that needed to happen was to pick up my kid on the set days and times. The day before each lesson, they would call my kid (not me) to change the times. The first time was okay but the 2nd and 3rd time, come on. ⁉Why would they call my kid the day before each lesson? Why would they make other arrangements? ‼The answer: double booking with many instructors. They have drivers recycling in and out, and switching customers often. The last lesson, they called MY KID the night before to change the time, again. Mind you, it was already booked with me. My kid couldn't make the new time, even though he said yes, because he was anxious. They came by to pick up my kid and gave ME attitude like it was MY fault that we couldn't accept the new time change. I asked to see his face and he asked why? Because sir you're taking my kid away from us and I want to see your face. ‼Needless to say, the experience wasn't warm and fuzzy. We were just being tossed around with other instructors. Last Wednesday for my last class I had an instructor named Tommy, and it was a great experience. There are a few things that make Tommy a great instructor. First is his knowledge and expertise. He is knowledgeable when it comes to driving, and is always looking to share valuable and practical information where it's needed. More importantly, Tommy created a perfect experience in the car while driving. Tommy is able to articulate every lesson he tries to teach you, and his instruction is clear. Finally, Tommy goes above and beyond making sure you're ready to drive in the real world, as well as ready to pass the DMV exam. I was looking around for driver training for my teenagers and I found Bay Hill. They got pretty good reviews and we're local to me in the Fremont area so I wanted to give them a shot. Raj was recommended on many reviews, so I requested her for my daughter for same-gender comfort. They offer many different sessions but I utilize the 6 hour class. The cost was about $250 and they go out three times for 2 hours each time. My daughter was very comfortable and she said she learned a lot when she was driving with Raj and that help me feel very comfortable. Initially when taking my daughter out it was very nerve-wracking as you can imagine. So to unload that on to these trained professionals is a godsend. I like them a lot and I signed up for another 6 hours session for my son. I requested Raj again but the day of our first appointment they called and said Raj was sick and sent a nice gentleman by the name of Terrence. My son seemed quite satisfied after he came back and to my surprise Terrance came to the door and gave me a review of how my son did and what he was trying to teach him. I didn't know if that was something that was part of their protocol but rice did not do that for me. I really appreciated the feedback from Terrence. During this sheltering in place, their office reached out to me to see if I wanted for my son to continue his lessons. They said the owner was offering lesson and it would be the owner only. I declined the offer to observe the shelter in place and 6 foot social distancing. We were only able to use one 2 hour session at the time because of covid-19. read more

We used Bay Hill Driving School for our son's behind the wheel drivers education. They actually picked up the phone when I called since the option we needed wasn't on the website. They didn't make us wait forever for driving lessons which was also a plus. My son liked both of his instructors. They always confirmed the appointment a few days before and were always on time. My son said his instructors were very helpful and he just passed the behind the wheel test with a perfect score. You can't ask for anything better than that. If you have an exceptionally tall child I would suggest telling them since they showed up with a very tiny car and it was difficult for my 6'6 child to fit comfortably in the car. read more

I took Bay Hill for a 1 hour drive class + car for drive test. I had taken a couple of classes earlier from another instructor in SF city and then used bay hill to get acquainted with Fremont DMV routes. They were really accommodating and helpful. I was running late from San Fransisco and they offered to pick me up from Bart instead of the scheduled pick up at Fremont DMV so I don't lose driving time. In an hour I was given instructions on lane changes, pointers on pre drive test questions about the car, what to look for while yielding on right turns and things to look for while reversing. There were other really helpful things that were taught to polish my driving and becoming a safe driver-- all just in 1 hour. After the driving instructions, I was also at a risk of losing my drive appointment because of missing documents. JP quickly drove me to his office to print out my documents and his wife Prabhjot quickly drove me back in time for the drive test. So I was given experience of all the basics of car to driving in lane, rules to follow when taking turns, lane change, braking, rules to follow in different roads like residential, commercial. I had a very good experience with Bay Hill Driving School! My instructor was Stacy and I only had one 2 hour session with her but she was very informative. I had a lesson with her a week before my driving test was scheduled. Before her lesson, I was still pretty inexperienced to driving. I had a previous lesson before but the instructor had only taken me around the neighborhood to get me more comfortable on the road. So my instructor Stacy, was the one who taught me all about the specific rules and tips that the driving test was going to be particular about. She prepared me for the test and it was exactly how she had taught me. She was incredibly patient and understanding throughout the lesson and provided me with resources and knowledge that had helped me pass my driving test on the first try! Thank you again Stacy!
