Took 15 mins to get SOME of my ballons blown up. Waste of my time. Hire more people. The lady was checking every customer out at self checkout. I doubt corporate would praise their lack of customer service where it's needed. Self checkout means self checkout. If customer needs help then they can ask. Society is well accustomed to self checkout now. I got my money back as I didn't want to waste more of my time. This is a review for the Michaels framing department in Woodland, California. I have had a number of art pieces framed at the Michaels in Woodland. They always do a top notch job on making everything look professional and nice. I'm not the best at picking out styles or colors (more of a know it when I see it kinda person), but the Michaels staff is exceptional at putting together excellent color combinations to really make the artwork pop! I have received excellent service on a number of visits, but I'd specifically like to point out how helpful and professional Alyna has been at the Michaels in Woodland. Alina has helped me when other frames got damaged by movers and has chosen some top notch color combinations for me. I have received a number of compliments on the work that Michaels has done! Custom Framers Beware! We brought in a canvas to be stretched and consulted with Taylor. When we arrived to pick up the canvas it was stretched incorrectly, leaving a large white boarder. When we informed Taylor that it was incorrect she was visibly upset, snatched the canvas, and walked to the back. Weeks later we received a call that the mistake had been fixed and went in to pick up the canvas. Two of the corners looked great and two were lumpy and poorly folded. Once again Taylor was defensive and visibly angry. After another manager got involved, she agreed to fix her mistake. The next day we received a call that the canvas was ready. It looked good. Clearly she had made a mistake the first two times and the job could be done correctly. Taylor clearly would benefit from customer service training and further job training. TLDR: don't get your canvas stretched at Michael's. read more

Really good selection of paint and canvases. Honestly they have a really good selection of all art things. I found myself wanting to try lots of new things I haven't heard of before. The selection of Halloween decor was amazing. Really unique and cute spooky pieces. My sister loves crows so I had to take a few pics of the Halloween crows (I'll share some along with some other cute and/or unique decorations I found.) They cashier was super kind and when one of the items I bought fell out of the cart in the parking lot (and promptly got run over on by a car and broke) she was sympathetic and helpful exchanging the item for a new one and helping me relocate where I'd originally found it. I'll definitely be heading back as they have a lot of good deals and much more affordable than our local art shop. read more

Michael's is a great store and the one in Woodland is conveniently situated next to Target and Costco. It has a great selection of items so I generally find what I need there. However please watch what you pay for items. I recently purchased pencils as a gift. The tag above the items priced it at $19.99 however I later discovered I had been charged $41.99. When I went back i checked the isle to make sure I did not make an error I found the item still displaying $19.99. Customer service said the item had been put in the wrong place however there was not a place marked $41.99 and there were more than one on display when I purchased it. They refunded me for the item without any hassle but I will be checking my receipt in future and be mindful as to the price I actually pay for things rather than going by the display price. read more

I live in Natomas, but rarely go to the Michaels store there anymore (by Ross). That whole Walmart complex isn't the safest-feeling to be in the evenings, especially after dark. Plus, Woodland is an easy pitstop on the way home from Davis. Staff is better at this store too. I've come here many, many times whenever my various artsy projects require supplies. I've purchased everything from spray paints, felt, Duff fondant, candy melts, iron-on lettering, Prismacolor markers, Sakura micron pens, toned tan paper, stretched canvas, fabric paints, airbrush acrylics, Liquitex gloss medium and varnish, etc. Haven't used their framing services yet, though. I like how they have the coupons, and the e-mail signup. Note to self: Don't wear your work badge/lanyard when you shop here or else other customers will think you work there. read more

Located near Costco, I can't help but go here after getting necessities. Really not too much to say but this place has everthing for me when I need crafty items. I love their selction of beads and charms. Things are a bit jumbled around but with some time/help from an employee, I got what I needed (then again, I might have come in after a really busy day). Customer service isn't bad but have to ask someone from the front (not many employees around when surfing the isles). The store is well stocked and clean which I give it a 5 star. However, my 1 star is due to what I feel as the staff that lacks customer service and compassion. I went to the store because I saw their ad about a 60% sale on florals particularly, hydrangeas. Well, it turned out that it only applied to spring and summer florals. Unfortunately, the hydrangeas I bought were not part of the "spring and summer" hydrangeas on sale. I spoke to the manager who really did not care what I thought. I told her that the sale was confusing, misleading and recommended they should separate the sale and non-sale florals. She really didn't care. I told her I will write a yelp review and she said, ok. I called the store because I needed some advice on what to purchase for an adult who wanted to begin to paint for therapy and use of one arm. She was able view the website simultaneously and give me a number of affordable options. (Her name was unique and sounded like "Lily") She had a woman who didn't speak English, yet was able to assist her by informing her of the prices. She was also given assistance in navigating and comprehending the app. The women seemed very grateful towards her. Once it was my turn, she greeted me with a smile and made the entire process quite enjoyable for me. She interacted with both my kids and I. This is definitely one of the most cramped and claustrophobic feeling of Michael's Arts and Craft store I have ever been inside. Thankfully, they seem to more often have in stock the art pens and paper I want to buy, a GIANT selection of candles when they go on sale (when they have the candle sales, come to THIS Michael's location!) and the best part are the friendly employees. I have been to my fair share of Michael's in my short lifetime but this is by far the best store that I have ever experienced. The entire store is clean and I mean CLEAN. The bathrooms, which usually look like a bomb had been dropped in the middle of it found in the other locations, look pristine. The store is neatly organized and the staff is incredibly helpful. Not only do they know where absolutely everything is in their store, they know what brands they carry and if they don't carry that brand or product, what a comparable brand would be at their store. When I was looking for specific beads during a DIY project, the assistant manager of the store who was at the cashier decided to call the Natomas location and get the beads that their store had run out of- she willingly (and despite my insistence that she didn't have to) called them up only to find out that the quality and professionalism of their store didn't quite translate a couple of miles down I-5. None the less, she was put on hold for fifteen minutes and waited on hold the entire time until I insisted that it was ridiculous and decided to just drive down there and check in person. I love this location and whenever I am in Woodland, I always go here before heading off to the Costco across the parking lot. read more

I usually stop in here when I need something very specific like tiny scissors, 100 feet of twine, or dehydrated apothecary moss. If you are even remotely artistically inclined, this is a much better place to shop at for decor (stems, vases, decorative rocks, etc.) because you can buy all your components and assemble them for much less cost than buying a vase and stems at a place like Pier 1 or other home decor store. I hate that I have to give it a one star because there products are awesome, but their customer service is just horrible. I'm pretty jealous of the service everyone else seems to be getting at this store. I've been to this specific store at least 10 times in recent months and have been ignored every time while standing in line but once. *The only reason I continue to shop there is because of their products and coupons. Absolutely NEVER for the "friendly service" Last week I stood in line behind a woman who walked away and stood by the framing dept, waiting for someone to help her get a coupon, because of course they never have the ads in store. There were 2 registers open. One of the employees finished checking someone out and then closed down her register when it was my turn and then just stood there talking to the other employee who was checking someone else out. When it was my turn, the first employee decided to open her register again and help the person behind me. Of course this entire time she looked at me more than once so she could have easily helped me but apparently her conversation with her co worker was more important. That whole process took about 5 minutes and still no one had helped the woman with her coupon issue and I never saw an employee even attempt to help her or talk to her at all. So, I went out to my car and grabbed some extra coupons that I had printed from online and went back into the store (she still hadn't been helped) and gave her 3 of them. She thanked me and told me she couldn't believe the customer service and how terrible it was. Of course I totally agreed. Every single time I am in one of these stores, Woodland, Sacramento (Truxel and El Camino Ave) the employees are always conversating with each other and not servicing the customers. Truxel Ave Sacramento - I've been in line with 5 other peoeple before while there was one employee running a register and 2 employees standing at the end of the counter talking. I asked the girl why they weren't helping her and she told me she didn't know and couldn't say anything because they were her managers. I love the store itself. They have great coupons and almost always have what I need. I do beading, scrapbooking, crafts with the kids, and paint so this is a great store as far as merchandise goes. I agree with Jennifer M.! Granted, the store is well-organized and has a lot of products, but it suffers in terms of service. Maybe it just depends on when you go as to whom is there to help or not help you. For instance, when I went this evening, I asked an associate if they had a particular adhesive in stock. She just shrugged me off that she doesn't think they carried it. When I asked how one would get the powder, which they sell, to stick, she walked away without even looking at me. The cashier was nicer about it, after she griped about one of their frequent customers, but didn't put much effort into helping me. She half-attempted to ask a fellow employee but he only said he had no idea what that item was. On another note, I was charged full price for a frame that was marked as part of a sale. When I asked the cashier, she said it was probably because it wasn't the brand on sale (30% off table top frames?). I can understand if that was true, but she made no effort into making sure I wasn't over-charged.. like simply checking the price tag on the shelf. She didn't seem to care at all. I had my 5 year old's birthday party here. Yes, they do parties.. a hidden gem! One of the associates, "D "( I cannot use names), helped me out originally. Her customer service was above and beyond...flawless! She got me started out with the details. Michael's charges $50 for set up, clean up, and facilitation of the craft AND invites and thank you cards. So worth it. I decided on a having 11 girls paint jewelry boxes and make beaded necklaces. Again, "D" was amazing, ordered the boxes I needed so they all matched (5 year old thing) since they were out in store to purchase. She told me to put certain products I was going to purchase back as they would provide them (paint, brushes,rhinestones). Wow! The day of the party, the room was set up well in advance for me to bring in my own personal touches. The room was clean, well sized, and the bathrooms were very accessible and clean. The room is pre-decorated with birthday decor so I only needed to bring minimal. Why am I NOT giving it 5 stars? The associate, "H", that "facilitated" the party, hardly facilitated. She set up paints in color order and brought out trays for paints, cups for rhinestones for sharing, but did not facilitate the craft at all. I don't even think she said one word to the children the entire 2 hours. Thank goodness for helpful moms and grandmas to help me out! If anyone has been around this age group they know the ice needs to be broken even though they are around all familiar faces. The territory is different and they needed to feel welcome by someone from Michael's! Although this mini part of my daughter's birthday was frustrating, I think all went home happy, had fun and even though I did not get the "facilitation of the craft," the fee was well made up in clean up, paint product and glitter. read more

I was looking around for a while and am fairly certain they thought I was going to steal something, even though I am a paying customer and have been for life. I'd hear over the intercom that they were paging theft prevention and every time after, an employee would come stand by me... they wouldn't work or do anything, or even talk to me, they'd just come stand by me... I smiled at the employee and they quickly turned around and got on their phone. It made the entire shopping experience very uncomfortable!!!
