I live in Plano Texas, not Edmonds. This is the first time I've ever been to a stitch store that arranges the threads by color and not type/brand. I walked in wanting to buy some white thread and didn't see any in the front rooms. And then WOW I walked into the thread room and my eyes were smiling at the vast array of colors. Very impressive!! The women who work there are so helpful, patient and kind. Especially Maria who is so sweet when I bring my one year old who acts like it's her personal play room. As a person that is new to needlepointing, I ask for guidance and second guess myself quite a bit, but what I really appreciate is how the employees here always empower me to experiment and to trust my gut/preferences. As for prices, fibers can be costly, but they will definitely direct you to more affordable options. A lot of times I have come in intending to buy new fibers and they help me figure out how to use what I already have in my stash. Despite spending a lot of money here, I've also saved money too. As a new Needlepointer I had the best experience here. The staff was friendly and helped me kit my first canvas and ask all the questions. I live far away & with Deanna's help; she was able to coordinate an outside order, change the canvas stitch count size, along with adjusting my thread colors to match the decor of our future granddaughter's nursery colors. Odd experience- was in town for work, so visited for fun. When you walk in, it's a small room. Appears like they are transitioning to online only- very few canvases which are in the back, like in a warehouse, and the employee will open the door for you to look. They had threads so if you are local to Sacramento looks like a good place to get those, or stretcher bars. Not welcoming or inviting like other LNS. I didn't see where they hold classes, perhaps that space is nicer. Also nothing specific to the region, in terms of canvases. Maybe just a different business model. read more

It has been so sad to see the contraction of The Needlepointer over the past two years. They are only open to the public now one day a week (Saturday's), and if you want assistance with a project there are 4 weekly appointment times that must be reserved ahead of time, online. These book-up, fast. Calls to the store routinely roll to voicemail. Last week none of my 3 messages were returned, making it necessary to drive in from out of the area to see if they had a particular floss. I dearly miss the care, warm personalities and broad expertise that characterized the Needlepointer and hope things can migrate back toward that storefront model, vs. the online business which is now their focus. The yarn room and canvases at the store are still beautiful. It hurts! read more

I have consistent problems connecting with this store. Their current hours are by appointment only, and are Thursday or Friday for limited hours in the morning. It is apparent that they are only catering to those who are either retired or are not working. They would be smarter to also cater to those who have disposable income and are working during those hours. They are open on Saturdays for drop ins but no consultations. It is staffed by teenage girls who are nice enough but no nothing about this specialized and expensive art. Bottom line - they are not open when it is helpful to me. I've switched the majority of purchases elsewhere with much better service. I'm sad to write this as I used to shop here all the time. They need some competition! read more

First I have to say I have been going for years and have had great experiences... but today was disappointing. Companies should be aware that not everyone is going to go to their website. So I asked Siri if the store was open and it said yes I immediately got in my car and drove 30 minutes to Edmonds so I could pick up some thread for my needlepoint. I didn't need a consultation, just to pick up some extra thread to match my needlepoint canvas. All the signs when I got into the parking lot at appointments were needed and I was kind of surprised so I went to the side door and knocked and open the door and saw a lady and said "hi I wasn't aware of the appointments, but I wondered if you could match the thread to make canvas, or if I could make an appointment. She kindly offered to let me leave it there and or I could come back Saturday which I declined. I asked her more about appointments and she said I could call or I can make them online. Well I appreciated her explaining about the appointments and the offer I thought it was poor customerservice to not offer to let me make an appointment while I was there. In hindsight I now realize that they are not open for even appointments on Wednesdays, and my being there seem disruptive since the person was in the process of completing a task but it really put me in a poor frame of mind to hear that I should call to a location that I was already at. I think some of the solutions that could have been offered was to either take my name and number, or to offer to make an appointment for me while I was there. I might understand the employee's reaction if everyone went to the website, but I think the employees should understand that not everyone is going to call the store ahead or some people might just Google them on the Internet to see what their hours of operation are. I think I am probably going to put my needlepoint project on timeout because I just don't want to go back and deal with this while during covid and let my negative experience fade a bit. Maybe I will go back when covid appointment restrictions are lifted, or just call to deal with the person I normally deal with. read more

I have shopped at the Needlepointer for years - beginning when Georgia Dee was managing the shop when it was in Everett. I have taken lessons there. Brian Shaw was another one who was so helpful and always had great suggestions. In the past it has been a friendly and wonderful place to chat and learn about needlepointing. Their web site says open for appointments Thursday thru Saturday. Today is Wednesday. Their website said "OPEN". I needed 2 threads to complete a canvas I am working on. I knew the brand and had the number. I entered the back door (as the signs indicate) and was promptly told to wait outside. A young person came out with her dog and I was told that there was no way I could purchase my two threads! I drove 30 minutes to Edmonds. I'm hoping for a new needlepoint shop in the northwest. This place is no longer a wonderful welcoming place to learn about needlepointing! read more

This is an outstanding shop with wonderful customer service, warm staff and a hard-working owner. I've attended classes and retreats although I live in another state. The nasty, disgruntled customer who refused to accept an apology and attempts to correct a mistake should take a lesson on how to be gracious in the face of someone else's errors. Over the years I have found "The Needlepointer" to be one of the top needlepoint shops in the country. The staff has always been so very helpful when I have placed orders long distance. The shop employs expert ladies who pull the correct threads as well as supply advice and stitch guides. I sure hope to visit their shop in person one day. read more

I spend a lot of time at the Needle pointer. Bryan and the staff are friendly and helpful. I don't generally needlepoint, but I do a lot of crewel and stitching. They've been welcoming and always happy to have me sit down at the table and stitch. Because of this, I've branched out somewhat into needlepoint. Although I don't tend to take classes, I did take the 'Patches' Class, and can't recommend it highly enough. It filled in a lot of holes in my knowledge of fibers, design, and usage, and also pointed out how much I did already know. Relaxed and fun, just like everything else at this shop. Here has been my experience with the shop. I ordered something online Dec 30, 2014. I get a confirmation email. As it turns out, the order never went through and there was a problem with my cc (it had been stolen over the holidays). AFter 2 weeks of no notice, I called and gave a new number. They accept it and charge my card on Jan 21 and telling me that my items will be shipped asap. I don't receive a confirmation or any tracking information, so I finally called on 1/27. They can't find my shipping information, so they will call me back. As it turns out the person who normally ships everything was out for a few days and never sent it (despite my card being charged). They will send it asap. I am still waiting for it. I am really frustrated to say the least, and I have no confidence that they will send this. Each time that I have contact them, I have gotten the run around. I have started a fraud investigation, since technically they can't charge my card until the items are on their way to me. I would be very wary about shopping here going forward. Maybe they are fine in person, but they should NOT be running a website. read more
