I was NEVER kept informed of hours being charged. They billed my credit card for $6031. They will not return my calls or emails. Will not do anything now that they have my money. I have contacted BBB & filed a complain with the Utah State Bar.

This update to my original review of the law firm of J.D. Milliner is in response to J.D…read more Milliner's post of 9/2/2020. J.D. Milliner claims that my review of his law firm was largely based on information obtained from a rather unreliable source. I find this to be quite comical considering I based my review on my own personal interactions with the employees of his firm along with emails as well as invoices that were sent to me for payment of his firms work both when I was in fact a client of his firm as well as when his firm was retained to represent the client that his firm represented at the time this review was originally posted. These emails and invoices covered a time span of close to one year and came from the attorneys and employees of his own firm. I based my review of his law firm on what was supplied to me by his own employees as well as the personal interactions that occurred for close to one year with the employees and attorney's in his own office so I guess in essence J.D. Milliner is telling everyone who reads his reply to my original review of his law firm that his employees are the rather unreliable source that provided me with the information that I based my review on. J. D. Milliner states that the billing practices and procedures of his law firm are clearly set forth and that his firm provides detailed monthly statements each month to their clients. I also find this somewhat questionable considering in December of 2019 I personally disputed 2 invoices in a meeting with J. D. Milliner that were submitted to me as well as the client that was being represented by his firm due to unclear and questionable charges on the bills that were submitted by 2 of his attorney's that were working the client's case he refers to at that time. The result of the dispute was J.D. Milliner himself making the 1 particular bill in his own words "Go away" J.D. Milliner also states in his post that he must follow the instructions of his actual clients or withdraw from the representation of that client. This statement also comes into question due to the fact that the client he is referring to in this case submitted to him along with the attorney assigned to represent her as well as the paralegal employed by him a detailed letter that contained written and precise instructions of what the client wanted J.D. Milliner to do regarding their representation of her as their client. 6 days later the client in question received a letter from J.D. Milliner and assoc. informing her of their decision to withdraw from representing her as their client. In the letter that was sent to the client one of the reasons that was cited for withdrawal of representation was due to the bad review that I had posted here regarding his law firm. In summery it seems that the law firm of J.D. Milliner and associates retaliates against the clients they represent by withdrawing from representation of them when anyone associated with that client exercises their right to free speech and the right to review his law firm regardless if the review is good or bad. I stand by my original review of this business

Absolutely frustrating trying to work with this legal group!!…read more I interviewed a handful of appellant attorneys before choosing Atticus Legal Group. I felt comfortable in my decision because the attorney listened to my case and seemed very sure of himself in representing me. However, after discussing the Appellant process, my options and he verbally explained I would be covered until the end of my case regardless of the outcome & including if the case was sent back to the original courthouse. Well right after I paid them off my attorney left the firm transferring my case to another attorney. Whom never reached out to discuss the case. He was to represent me in a 15 minute verbal argument at the Appellant courthouse. It was clear that he was very unprepared & uneducated about my case. He was giving 15 mins to represent me & the entire time I wanted to stand up & respond myself because he had no argument or facts at hand to support my case because of which my case did get sent back to the original court house to determine the justification for the orders and to see if any changes are necessary. I then received a Rule 68 notice from my ex that has a 14 day response time frame on it. I reached out the the attorney & never received a call or email back. After multiple attempts I called the main firm line to speak to a receptionist to see what was going on with the case. I was told they would look into it & call me back... a few days later I get a short email explaining that I am no longer represented by the firm because it was sent to the original court. I am beyond frustrated and disappointed in the lack of knowledge and effort towards my case. I would never recommend this firm.

Phone Console was scheduled which they charge for their consults. I was told the money would not be taken out of my account until 30 minutes or more into the console, giving time to determine if there were grounds to proceed. My account was charged minutes into the scheduled time frame and I hadn't even received their call yet. I was told the route we were going to take, the attorney needed to verify a couple things and would get back to me in a week and that was couple months ago. Consequently my filing deadline has expired. They were real quick to take my money but very unconcerned with putting forth any effort to assist me in my situation. It's disappointing when you put your trust in a firm to help write a wrong, only to be treated in the same fashion. During my consultation I was informed that I would be receiving a phone call within a week to direct me in the process we were going to use to approach my case, I never received a phone call and have made multiple attempts to contact the attorney's office to no avail. I feel like if they were to put forth the same effort in dealing with their clients needs as they did charging your account, they would be unstoppable. I understand a consultation fee is merely that, but when you are assured prior your consultation that they would review your complaint and if there were grounds to proceed you would get a consultation appointment but if not they wouldn't waste your time or money. The attorney was very adamant on the fact that there were very strict filing deadlines and that we needed to act quickly, yet all that enthusiasm was lost with the conclusion of the call. If they didn't have the time to give my case the attention it deserved they could have said that before taking my money and a shred of Hope. I would have been able to pursue avenues elsewhere. I would not recommend this law firm on the basis that, I feel the care their clients deserve is not a priority.
