This update to my original review of the law firm of J.D. Milliner is in response to J.D…read more Milliner's post of 9/2/2020. J.D. Milliner claims that my review of his law firm was largely based on information obtained from a rather unreliable source. I find this to be quite comical considering I based my review on my own personal interactions with the employees of his firm along with emails as well as invoices that were sent to me for payment of his firms work both when I was in fact a client of his firm as well as when his firm was retained to represent the client that his firm represented at the time this review was originally posted. These emails and invoices covered a time span of close to one year and came from the attorneys and employees of his own firm. I based my review of his law firm on what was supplied to me by his own employees as well as the personal interactions that occurred for close to one year with the employees and attorney's in his own office so I guess in essence J.D. Milliner is telling everyone who reads his reply to my original review of his law firm that his employees are the rather unreliable source that provided me with the information that I based my review on. J. D. Milliner states that the billing practices and procedures of his law firm are clearly set forth and that his firm provides detailed monthly statements each month to their clients. I also find this somewhat questionable considering in December of 2019 I personally disputed 2 invoices in a meeting with J. D. Milliner that were submitted to me as well as the client that was being represented by his firm due to unclear and questionable charges on the bills that were submitted by 2 of his attorney's that were working the client's case he refers to at that time. The result of the dispute was J.D. Milliner himself making the 1 particular bill in his own words "Go away" J.D. Milliner also states in his post that he must follow the instructions of his actual clients or withdraw from the representation of that client. This statement also comes into question due to the fact that the client he is referring to in this case submitted to him along with the attorney assigned to represent her as well as the paralegal employed by him a detailed letter that contained written and precise instructions of what the client wanted J.D. Milliner to do regarding their representation of her as their client. 6 days later the client in question received a letter from J.D. Milliner and assoc. informing her of their decision to withdraw from representing her as their client. In the letter that was sent to the client one of the reasons that was cited for withdrawal of representation was due to the bad review that I had posted here regarding his law firm. In summery it seems that the law firm of J.D. Milliner and associates retaliates against the clients they represent by withdrawing from representation of them when anyone associated with that client exercises their right to free speech and the right to review his law firm regardless if the review is good or bad. Sierra Hansen - If…read moreI could put a 0, I would. She was chosen by both lawyers as the Private Guardian Ad litem. This is a lawyer that is supposed to defend the children by meeting with them and those that associate with them to find out true facts to help them. I will only state facts. 1. It took her 3 weeks to get back to us and we only had 6 to get her research done and opinion made before we met with judge again. 2. She wanted to meet with them OVER ZOOM (which I get for adults, but not with children whom you have to gain their trust to talk about abusive and sensitive topics). 3. She first went to court without having contacted ANY of the doctors, counselors, school advisors that we provided. 4. Her solution was for the two parents to go to mediation to come up with a parenting plan. (Apparently she forgot that she was there because the parenting plan that was already created wasn't being followed and the judge needed her to see who was telling the truth). 5. She made us do mediation just to suggest that we should take a coparenting class and for her 20 min of service charged $500. 6. It took me following up with her and making sure she contacted ANY of the counselors or doctors for the kids. She said they wouldn't call back but when asking the counselor, she had never attempted. 7. When we went back to court... Oh... MY.... GOSH. She never once defended or stated ANY of what the kids or both counselors said. She actually discredited the doctor that felt the father was not doing his job helping his insanely high anxiety and ocd child with medicine. He reported stories the children told him but she told the judge, "but I asked the doctor if he really knew what went on in the dads house and he said no." Did she really just say that? Then she went on to mainly defend the father and NOT the children and said, "well MAYBE the mom was texting the daughter and that's why the daughter jumped out of her dads window and ran to the neighbor to call her." First of all, that's conjecture. Second of all, why would she need to run to a neighbor for their phone if she had a phone. Smart one there. She promised my children that she would help them and did NOTHING!!!! Now they have CPS maybe opening a case soon because of the continued reports of their emotional/verbal and physical abuse. Good job Sierra Hansen on being the WORST person and lawyer. I was so flabbergasted by what happened and what she said. I did my research and found that she was not only friends with Heather Seegmiller (my ex's lawyer) on Facebook (and they only have like 300 friends so they keep it close and private),but, she also lives ONLY 5 minutes away from the opposing lawyer AND they both have kids that go to the same school. Interesting. Why would she not defend clients that are children and defend an obviously abusive father? She knew there was something up. The children, the doctor, and the school counselor were ALL very clear. Sad days when ethics and morals go out the door. I hope that karma hits you in the butt. I will now just rely on CPS and not waste anymore of the thousands and thousands of dollars since it all depends on your lawyer. Mine was honest.... So we lost.

I had an emergency come up that day and called around noon to let them know that I needed to reschedule. I called and spoke to the receptionist whose name is Elizabeth. I tried calling multiple times last week and was told someone would call me back and I never received a call back. I then went on their website last weekend and filled out the form giving you more information about my case and asking to schedule an appointment. I got a call from Elizabeth earlier this week and scheduled an appointment with Sierra for yesterday, Thursday, September 11. I was told I would receive a call between five and six. I received multiple reminder texts. I took work off. My mom left work early. I had my dad here as well. No one ever called. This is unacceptable and unprofessional behavior. This is time sensitive and they have wasted my time. I am a single mother who is already struggling and desperate for help. Do not seek help from this office. They are extremely disorganized and don't care about you or your time.

She allows hostility at exchanges including speaking openly about calling the police on the father in front of the children, wearing a bodycam and walking off on the children as they were safely taken to her. She has enabled the mother to give the kids their clothes in garbage bags, "treating them like garbage". She has allowed repeated violations by the client of her friend - violations of law and court orders which are harming the children. The oldest requested to speak with his therapist alone, and was dismissed as a client thereafter because the mother had not been honest about the situation. He was put in group and despite concerns the son had expressed about his mother knowing someone there and not being able to speak freely, Ms. Telfer allowed it, claiming she would follow up and see how it was going. There's no indication she did. In fact, after that there were multiple DCFS reports about the mother that directly opposed what Ms. Telfer had represented to the court. It was items Ms. Telfer was hired to prevent. She failed the children. The oldest was getting suspended from school and then assaulted by his mother. She dug her fingernails into his cheeks and shoved a bar of soap in his mouth so hard he was bleeding in his mouth. He was also drawing violent pictures of his mother. Ms. Telfer didn't check with the child or DCFS, because this is about protecting the mother, not the child. DCFS recommended therapy, but Ms. Telfer and the mother have a lot to hide so after 3 months he still isn't with a therapist under his mother's care. Instead of reporting the violations and harms to the court, Ms. Telfer makes up allegations about the father. She actually claims that the father reporting the violations means he's mentally ill, despite his concerns being proven valid by multiple DCFS reports. I don't not find Ms. Telfer to be honest, competent, or to be looking out for the welfare of the children. I find her far more interested in protecting her friend's client. As of this writing, she's under investigation by the state bar for ethics violations. She has failed those children. She knew about the violations and harms and seems to enable instead of prevent. I wish I could believe she's just waiting to full report, but her false statements against the father and falsely claiming she saw the children in their mother's lap... One was never there and the other is a tall 10yr old far too big for his mother's lap. That's right, she made it up and not even the mother is claiming that happened.

When we first met with Sierra, it seemed like it would be a good fit; she seemed very knowledgeable…read moreand that she would be aggressive for the matter we were dealing with. Her prices (as far as attorney's go) were also reasonable. Once we made it through the mediation process, it was almost like all communication was shut off. There were some lingering issues that weren't resolved and I had tried multiple times to get ahold of her through telephone calls, the client portal they have, as well as texting her assistant. I went months without hearing anything and it was overly frustrating after paying thousands of dollars- I was finally able to get ahold of her after trying for months and was told that she would try to get the documents needed to see what the next steps were (this was in July). Then comes October and I get a notice from the court that she has filed a Motion to Withdraw as Counsel and I was never given an update from her or her assistant. I contacted the office and the office manager wasn't sure what had happened so she contacted Sierra to find out. There wasn't really a solution made other than they could recommend another attorney within their office if I wanted to proceed further and that they weren't sure why she didn't contact me or at least have her assistant reach out. I'm not sure if this is a Sierra issue or a problem with her assistant not relaying messages- but I would not recommend Sierra. It has been super frustrating to pay that much money and not get simple communication or updates and then to just be dropped without an explanation when you were still awaiting answers.
