This funeral home showed a shocking lack of respect, compassion, and basic decency during one of the worst moments of my life. In the beginning, everything felt okay, but the shift was immediate and obvious the second my sister left their viewing room. Any sense of care disappeared. What followed felt cold, dismissive, and driven entirely by money. A few weeks after her death, they reached out pretending to "check in." Two days later, they contacted me again--this time asking me to leave a Google review because they were "trying to get their reviews up." They also reached out to other members of my family with the same request. Think about that for a second. A grieving family, and their focus is marketing. It gets worse. I also found that they posted a video of my sister in her casket on their page after we explicitly told them not to. That is beyond unprofessional. It is a complete violation of trust and basic human respect. There is no justification for that decision. Also, on the day of the burial which occurred at the same location, when we returned immediately to collect flowers, we were met with rudeness and told to "go get everything" because they had already moved it to a garage. No empathy. No patience. No understanding of what a family is going through in that moment. This place does not treat people like human beings. It treats them like transactions. Wrote a review 5 yrs ago on how disgusted I was with the aesthetics of it all. Writing another one star review today. Buried my baby sis today. Wanted to visit my brother in law's gravesiite. Walked around for an hour. Markings are on sticks with numbers written in marker. Numbers are faint and washed out, hardly able to read. No order to them. No method to the madness. Maps are useless. I'm no idiot, but I couldn't find it. We left without finding him In this day and age, and all the MONEY people pay here, you'd think that they could come up with a more accurate, simpler method of being able to locate a loved one. This funeral home is run extremely unprofessionally. Not only was my father's passing one of the hardest times for our family, it was during the lockdowns in April. My husband was traveling from OH after my father had passed and when he was 10 minutes away the man who came to get my father's remains told us he couldn't wait. He told us he would be picking up someone else and to call when we were ready and that he would be back in an hour tops. 4 hours later he still hadn't arrived and we were made to sit with my dad's body. They tried to tell us it would be another few hours! Upon my sister-in-laws' requests to NOT make the widow sit with her husband's body for several more hours causing further grief they had arrived in about an hour. They made several mistakes in his obituary online, included information we did not want included, didn't give us a list of the donations made in my father's name... Someone had called for information about where to send flowers and donations and they were told my father had already been buried!!! This happened the day before the funeral and caused even more stress to our family. Since this was during the beginning of COVID, we had to livestream his funeral service. We had a family viewing, which was not supposed to be on the livestream but of course it ended up being viewed and not private. We were having The Beatles played at the beginning of his service and due to copyright they were supposed to mute thelivestream and then unmute for the priest. Instead, they let the music play and MUTED the actual service. Family and friends had to call and tell them to unmute and that no one could hear the priest. They finally unmuted for my dad's friend to eulogize him, but not the priest! There were many other instances of incompetence but the one that has led me to posting a negative review is that it is almost 14 months since his passing and he still DOES NOT have a plaque (which was paid for in advance) on his place in the mausoleum. We called to see why that is and the director or his "team" NEVER PLACED THE ORDER! It seems that the ball was continuously dropped and we had to constantly call to make sure things were getting done. read more

I am only reviewing this based on prices. It's actually nice to see they put a price list online unlike other funeral homes. HOWEVER, a DIRECT cremation is $3,995!!! What a rip! I know there are places that charge only $695 for a direct cremation which makes me nervous. So, after shopping around we found a funeral home downriver. Their TOTAL for my wife and myself was ONLY $2,900. So, we are getting a 2 for 1 price compared to almost $8,000 here for TWO direct cremations. My advice; SHOP AROUND!!! Unfortunately my mother has prepaid for herself here, BUT under the laws, we can take her prepay and go somewhere else which I'm thinking about doing after seeing all the bad reviews. read more

When we were looking for someone to help us through one of the hardest days of our lives, my brothers and I selected this funeral home to handle our mom's service/visitation. They treated us like family. We did the planning with Teresa (Felz?) who walked us through each step. Ours was a little more complicated as our service and visitation would be in Michigan, but our mom's final resting place would be in Florida along side our dad, who is buried in a National Cemetery. Teresa walked us through everything. We took our time going over things, and we never felt rushed during any part of this process--both with the planning and the visitation/service. On the day of the visitation/service, we were surrounded not only by our friends and relatives, but also our new "family" at Michigan memorial. The Funeral Home itself is wonderful but buy and bring in your own flowers. Tell your friends too. Their internal florist will take your money and give you carnations and other cheap flowers. It's happened to us twice now. They know in your time of grief you won't raise a stink. Well I did the second time and after speaking to management the arrangement was returned with white roses and other beautiful flowers. Still not what we ordered, but better than cheap junior high school dance carnations. read more

Very surprised to see all of the negatives reviews on here. My father passed unexpectedly, him being young and me being 30 I never thought I'd have to bury my father this soon. Patti and Rebecca were amazing. Walked me through the process entirely, gave me time when needed, and broke things down to kindergarten level because during this loss I wasn't in my right mind. They even called me to see how I was doing. YES, this cemetery is expensive...but you know what?! It's always clean and up kept. It is serene, calm, and a peaceful resting ground. This is a beautiful park. The staff here went out of their way to help us during this sad time. When I had questions or concerns, they always took my calls and offered help. This place has some further work to do to improve. My mother had her mausoleum here already purchased and I decided to do the funeral here as well, since they also do onsite cremation. Unfortunately some staff require more maturity and sensitivity when dealing with stressful situations and heightened emotions. I had prearranged the funeral but it still required many decisions that offered the opportunity for problems. The florist did not have flowers advertised on their website (she didn't even know what was on the site) and the young staff members who were "managing" the day of the viewing and service were rude and unhelpful. They made a difficult day worse. The general manager has been responsive to the concerns. But telling customers that they have to understand that staff are just doing their jobs is really not the path to a positive outcome. read more

My father passed away at the end of July 2015, and since he already owned grave plots at the adjoining cemetary we chose to have the funeral service at Mich. Memorial Funeral Home. From our first encounter with their staff until well after the burial we have endured one incompetent mistake after another. Had our family not been in mourning, this cluster of events would have been comical. The problems started out with the initial consultation. We ordered a specific casket with removable corners (praying hands) that were to be removed and given to our family members before burial and were to be replaced with the original pillar corners. Teresa who was "handling" the arrangements, wrote down the wrong casket, a mistake that thankfully my sister caught before Teresa left to sitting in the casket room for an hour waiting for the lady from the floral shop to arrive (she apparntly forgot to inform the floral shop that we were waiting to order flowers). We also told Teresa we wanted our Dad's thumbprint and ordered a couple of pendants. On the first day of the visitation, we found that not only was there no kneeler in front of the casket, but Dad had been in the Army yet they neglected to placed the American flag in the corner of his casket. We were escourted out to the cemetary to pick out which one of Dad's plots we wanted him buried, we picked out the one we wanted, but on the day of the funeral there was different plot opened. Right after the funeral service we accompanied Dad to the vaulting room where his casket was to be placed into the burrial vault. My family reminded the funeral director that we were supposed to get the commemorative corners from his casket which she promptly un-clipped. She did not have the original corner pillars with her and was going to just leave the casket with gross looking corners she had to be told we wanted them replaced. She had to send someone back to the funeral home to retrieve them. Then they closed the door to the vault room and had us stand there in the hall way and wait for 30 minutes or more while they retrieved the pillers and opened the casket to re-attach them. We followed the vaulted casket to the grave site and was forced stand out in the middle of the cemetary, besided the hole they dug, with our dad's vaulted casket sitting in the bucket of a front end loader while the cemetary personnel finally figured our that we were in fact shown the wrong plots in the first place and that Dad was in fact being interned in the correct plot, (this man was very rude and insinuated that we were in fact the ones who made the mistake). This took about 45 minutes for them to figure out that we had actually been shown someone elses grave plots instead of the ones that Dad owned. A week or so later my brothers ordered Dad's grave marker. A temporary marker would be placed at the gravesite until the permanent one arrives. A few days later it was discovered that the temporary marker was in place, but with the wrong first name on the marker! Now it is 10 weeks after the funeral and are still waiting for the thumbprint pendants. After my brother made yet another phone call to the funeral home, he found that Teresa, in her infinite wisdom, never submitted the order to the person at the funeral home who is responsible for ordering them. We have been assured that the order was now placed and will be delivered soon.....Can we trust that it is actually our father's thumbprint being cast and not just some random finger print? Dad owned sereral plots at this cemetary which me and my siblings now own. I really think we should get rid of these plots, I personally do not ever want to do business with Michigan Memorial Funeral Home or their Cemetery. Update: On March 31, 2016, I filed a complaint with the Michigan Better Business Bureau. As of April 24, 2016 Michigan Memorial has refused to respond to the investigation of the BBB. Apparently Michigan Memorial Park doesn't care what concerns anyone has regarding their business practices and how they treat their customers. read more

This is a very beautiful and fairly new funeral home. The staff at this funeral home treat people like they are family. I was shown sincere kindness, professionalism and compassion every step of the way in making funeral arrangements for my loved one. Ms. Corey Calderone helped me with arrangements, she's an absolute angel. They are owned privately by a family and are not a huge funeral corporation. Not all funerals homes are the same. This review is written with total objectivity, despite the circumstances. This funeral home was chosen, not by reputation, but because it was located adjacent to the cemetery where our mother was interred. Our grief was only compounded by our dealing with this facility! Our initial meeting was nothing more than a "hard sell" of products and services. It was presented with a "scripted" car sales mentality. There was no genuine care or concern for our needs. We were repeatedly told that if we had questions or concerns to simply call our assigned representative. Needless to say after FIVE phone calls, none were returned. Much after the fact, a message was left indicating that she was taking care of "other customers.". That was indicative of the " we dont care" attitude displayed by all staff members. I can only liken our total experience to dealing with a group of "automatons" incapable of genuine kindness or the ability to make you feel like you mattered! My family implores anyone thinking of entrusting your loved one to this facility to reconsider. It will only deepen your grief and make you feel as we did..........this is just a business for these people. read more
