Plenty of parking, lots of shady spots. There are some permanent structures with restrooms and space for concessions. On this sunny afternoon, a number of amateur baseball and softball games were underway and a few were getting set up to begin. While we were there most recently for a concert, I noticed that it was super hot in the concourse area and heard lots of people commenting on it. I felt bad for the employees as they were working hard and looked pretty warm. The concourse is quite narrow and congested with lines for concessions and different bars everywhere. The flow is not great and can feel very crowded, especially at hockey games. For the concert, they were requiring wristbands for those 21+ wishing to purchase alcohol, but the only spot I could see them being distributed was off the side immediately after going through security. No one told us that we needed to go over there until we were already in the line for drinks. There wasn't any order to getting wristbands, no one was in a line - it was just kind of chaotic. Once we finally got drinks (there was only one employee working to open everyone's drinks and pour them into cups), we made it to our seats which were great. I don't think there can be a bad seat in this arena since it's so small. The drink prices were very reasonable (and about half of what they charge at Van Andel). We also paid $10 (cash only) for parking, but they didn't really have anyone directing traffic in the parking lot. I think there are plans in the works to build a new stadium closer to downtown, so hopefully it will be a nicer experience!

I enjoyed walking in the park and tried to stay away from the homeless folks who decided now was a time to have a fight to provide some entertainment. It ended just as I was ready to call 911. There is a concession stand with burgers, fries, drinks, beers, and adult slushies. The staff have been friendly. It would be nice if there was a water bottle filling station, but there is at least a water fountain with decent pressure. Overall a nice place.

My connections group had a private skate with a local women's hockey team who apparently had a connection there. The ice surface was nice. I was told it was decently maintained, locker rooms were OK , shower pressure was OK. Plenty of parking, it was 9 AM in the morning so none of the concessions were open, so I can't comment on that. We were in the main arena, the scoreboard was in use, so all was good. Cant say it was epic, I noticed for the other rink... Valley Arena finally opened their concessions as we were leaving, but at that point, we're headed out for coffee and maybe some Sweetwater donuts, so we didn't use the concessions. The girls had to wait for security or somebody to let them in , when we initially arrived , so that was confusing. So-so experience , nothing special.
