I have now been to Mick's twice, and both times it was the best decision I could have made for my car troubles. I hired them to find a mystery noise. While they were looking for the noise they removed the drive belts to see if they were the problem. When they took the belts off they decided I needed new belts. So they put the old ones back on then called to see if I wanted to replace the belts Then They charged me $160 in labor to uninstall the belts they just put back on and put the new belts on. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I mentioned that they could have called when the belts were already off and saved me from being charged twice to do the same job, they said "that's the industry standard".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I give them two stars because they did fix the AC, maybe. But they never found the source of the noise and told me not to worry about it unless it dies while idling. Snd this is why I will not be going back. read more

I took my car to get serviced here, Tracy the owner, he overcharged me and when I spoke to the Tracy about he said that he is expensive and doesn't have many customers therefore he over charges' this is unacceptable. Overcharging me for service and using the excuse of 'slow business' and hanging up on me is wrong and dishonest business. And most services and recommendations to me were not necessarily and I refused most of his recommendations. If they were honest and reasonable they may have increase in clientele. Our 2003 Prius was tampered with last week. Thieves attempted to steal the catalytic converter, but luckily we'd had Mick's put on a Cat Cover a year ago, so the Cat was sawed through but not removed. The folks at Mick's were able to salvage it by coordinating with a local welding shop, then placing the Cat back in place. Tracy also ordered and put in place a Cat Collar to prevent this from happening again. Highly recommend this shop. Everyone working there is helpful and the place runs efficiently. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Wonderful shop and staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I took in my Honda Civic Hybrid to get looked at because it was having some difficulties with shuttering and accelerating and I also wanted some regular maintenance done. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everyone was really helpful on the phone and in person.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately they determined my transmission was failing and it's already an older vehicle that had a lot of recalls so getting a new one would be costly and difficult to source. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Instead of just continuing with my original maintenance orders they called me to see how I would like to proceed instead in case I didn't want to spend the additional money on a car that might not last too long.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Other shops would have just continued, charged me and then let me know about the transmission. They were very honest and transparent with the work and chargers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After I let them know to hold off on the rest of the work and that it might just be time to get a new vehicle they offered to assist me in suggesting new vehicles so I could find a reliable cost affordable option.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They really went above and beyond.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once I get a new car I will definitely go back. read more

I have been on yelp for over a decade. This the first bad yelp review I'm writing to protect others. Micks auto charged me over $500 for a problem they had no idea to fix, and at the pretense of fixing it, kept the car for weeks and put almost 600 miles on it. That is not a typo. Approximately 600 miles. These guys overcharge for problems they can't even fix, and then put hundreds of miles on your car at the pretense of finding the problem-- we are guessing the car was driven round trip from Santa Cruz to Los Angeles, for that insane mileage they put on it, An honest mechanic would just give someone back their car saying they are not sure. I went to another mechanic as soon as I got it back, who identified the issue in one minute, and charged only $65 to fix it. Go elsewhere to find an honest mechanic that won't take advantage of people. Let me add that they offered to continue "fixing" the problem for additional costs.. Gross. read more

I needed a trailer hitch installed and an oil change and looked up Mick's on yelp. From my first phone conversation, the service was exceptional. Everything was explained to me clearly - and they even provided suggestions on additional work that wouldn't go through them and save me money. Aside from the other shananagins and lies these guys told, the person told me they had topped off my fluids as a courtesy. They didn't ask me first. Turns out This car takes a specific kind of transmission fluid be cause its an SMT speed sequential manual transmission and pouring just any transmission fluid in to the car can ruin the transmission. So guess what? Ive been having transmission issues shifting gears since going to these guys at micks. Seriously, stay away from these guys. read more

Looks like I forgot to finish writing this review from a couple years ago. Mick and his team were helping out solve a problem for a car that I used to drive (2002 Lexus IS300). My check engine light was continuing to come on, and the folks over at the Toyota Dealership couldn't find the issue. Mick and the team were able to find it after a couple days of scouring the vehicle. I was visiting Santa Cruz and the check engine light in my Honda Civic hybrid came on during my trip there. I was worried about it because I was heading to a remote campground in the sierras after Santa Cruz. Friends recommended Mick's. Although the shop was super busy, Tracy took the time to check the codes (the light had gone off already), talk over options, gave me a couple of referrals for other shops and even called one of them to see if they'd have time to help me. When it turned out there was no shop with time to look into it, Tracy said if I ran into trouble down the road, he would be willing to help me vet a shop in another area if I needed an emergency repair! I was so impressed and so grateful. Luckily, I made my trip and got home with no problem, and I felt so much more confident with Tracy's help and offer of support.
