I had an 04 4Runner that made some squeaking noises for a few days. I'm like a concerned mother when it comes to my 4runner, so I wanted to make sure it wasn't anything major. You know how they say don't look at WebMD when you have a headache? I googled "squeak from right side of vehicle" and boy was that a bad idea. I'm new to the area and didn't have my tools or a jack to try and be a youtube mechanic and diagnose it, so I called up several shops around the area, all of whom wanted to charge me just to take a look. Curtis at The Shop said that was silly for a squeak - if it was something electrical, then that might make sense. He'd take a look at it for free. Obviously, if it ended up taking a while, then we'd talk about how much it might cost to diagnose. On the way over to The Shop, however, the noise went away. He still offered to take a drive and lift it up to rule out some possible causes. My relationship with Curtis started by helping a friend who had need her radiator replaced, but didn't have a lot of cash to work with. The universe was nice enough to put a new radiator in my friends hands, but how was she going to install it. I called around to about 6 shops asking if they would be willing to install the new radiator. Every single one of them said No they would not. You need to buy our highly marked up products I order for us to the work. Well that's when I asked Curtis for a quote through Yelp. Bam he replied that day stating it would to 1.5 to 2.0 hours and he'd be happy to assist. So a connect my friend with Curtis and she can't stop talking about how much integrity Curtis has. She said to me today. "A mechanic is a mechanic, what distinguishes a good mechanic from a great mechanic is their integrity." She went back for belt issue with her car, once again super happy with his pricing and his communication skills. And she's taking a new vehicle she bought over the weekend to have it checked out. I finally found my go to neighborhood mechanic!! We have always done our auto repairs and services at the dealership but after multiple bad experiences and getting tired of spending $500-$4k whenever we took a vehicle in I was recommended to The Shop and not only did they do quality work but they explain in detail what work needs to be done, let you know if it's a costly repair for a minor issue that doesn't impact safety instead of just throwing a quote at you and telling you it's all necessary today. I honestly felt like I was taking advantage of them when I was given the total, even jokingly asked my husband what he thought it would be and his guess was hundreds more, when usually we are shocked at how high quotes were at the dealership. I would honestly give this place 6 stars if I could! From the moment I called them, I knew they were not your typical auto body shop. They were extremely accommodating and got me in for an appointment the next day. Their prices are super affordable, and they didn't try to sell me things that I don't need like most shops do. They're very honest! Lastly, to top it all off, when I returned to pick up my car they were CLEANING MY INTERIOR!
