So, Apple sent me here to get warranty service today. I've had a machine that has never worked. Apple has had the machine multiple times. Was told by Apple that this place would be able to fix it quicker. We get there..spoke with the rudest guy on the planet named Jessie. He was argumentative and said there would be a charge for diagnostics and that no one could see an Apple machine until January 10. We already know what's wrong and Apple has tickets and info in not to mention this machine is under full warranty. Nope this guy kept his hands behind his back..without even looking or listening or looking in their system to see what the Apple ticket stated. We live no where near here. Epic waste of time. I have been coming here for over 25 years and the people at the service center (which we use it's it part of our warranty) are almost always a major downer. I always ask myself...why am I giving them money when I feel like badly about coming when I walk outside the store? This place is definitely my preferred place to shop for all things computer. Needed a new laptop and stopped at Best Buy as it was closer to me, but ultimately left as the associate was unable to answer any questions outside of the very very basics which are already printed in the label. Scooted over to micro center and found a laptop with the specs I needed and a faster processor for a much more reasonable price than at Best Buy and the associate that helped me (Don?) was very helpful and knowledgeable. He listened to what I needed and didn't push me in things I didn't need after I declined them; he was very helpful. As we were leaving, the store manager Ron, gave us his card and let us know to call if we had any other questions. I've shopped at Micro Center for years. Apple users beware! Overall a very disappointing experience. Couldn't actually speak with someone on the phone so I chatted with an agent to verify that they could replace my MacBook Battery. Made an appointment, drove 1 hour, just to be told that it would be 3 days before an Apple technician could even look at it. Drove back home and received a text 3 days later telling me the repair would be 600.00 + tax which is completely ridiculous, on top of the 40.00 I paid them just to give me that quote. I declined service and took it to an Apple store where they replaced the battery for 249.00 + tax. So I have to wonder if this place is just ripping people off whenever they can. Do your homework before paying them to look at your equipment and get a second opinion. read more

Their technicians just gaslit me that there was nothing wrong with it and they refuse to honor their warranties. Definitely save time and money by doing business with literally everyone else. The prices are generally good, but sometimes I feel they could be a little more competitive. Here's where I have to tell you about one employee I met today named Jason. I had been pointedly waiting around for some help--and waiting for quite some time until I finally flagged someone down and said, "Can I get some help getting some questions answered?" He said his manager was unable to find it in stock online anywhere except at New Egg for $259. And they would match that price. Not sure why - on Saturday, Feb 13 - Google showed it IN STOCK at Dell.com for $249 and Staples for $179. Salesperson Allen even acknowledged this on the phone. But now - thru some sort of revisionist history - I guess my Google searches magically find better deals. Either way - got the printer from Staples and the camera from Best Buy - so I'm a happy camper. Staples even lowered the price again Monday - and when I called - they credited my account $60 additional dollars to match the sale price even though they'd sold out at that point! Yay - Staples! ***************************************** Horrible customer service. After calling and holding for more than 34 minutes, finally talked to Allen. I wanted to price match a "printer / all in one" for my Mother. Best Buy had the printer - but the closest store was in Alpharetta and they were out of stock online. And Staples only has it online. First Allen tells me, "Sure - we can price match - just let me confirm the SKU." Then he comes back on the line to tell me he can't. No explanation. So I ask for a manager. At this point Allen gives me vague explanation about the difference being too great to price match. I ask if I can talk to a manager - again. Transferred me to John. First, he tells me he can't because according tot he website, Best Buy doesn't have it any brick and mortar stores. I told him that the Cumberland Best Buy had confirmed that the Alpharetta store has two in stock. John tells me it's a still a big fat no go. He tells me that Best Buy probably marked them down because they're about to stop selling them. When asked - he says he can go down to $274 (their price is $299) but if he goes any lower, he will be losing money because the product cost him $274. Keep in mind, it retails on Dell.com for $229. And only an idiot would believe that Microcenter is only marking the printers up by $25. On a whim - I compared the price of the Logitech 920 webcam I was purchasing as well - and it's $20 more than Best Buy and $10 more than Staples. I used to deal with Micro Center - just bought a Night Owl DVR there last month - because even though the customer service was lacking - my last laptop purchase was a nightmare* - the savings always made it up for it. Now - it appears that they've combined crappy customer service with overpriced merchandise. I'm sure they'll soon be going the way of the dodo bird. I wound up ordering the printer from Staples with direct shipping to my Mother's house. Then I purchased the webcam from Best Buy and picked it from brick and mortar Cumberland location. Thanks for nothing, Microcenter (except wasting my phone on the time today)!!! The lunatics are clearly running the asylum. Lesson learned. * purchased a Sony Vaio online - drove in to pick it up and they couldn't find it - so they refunded my money. After over an hour waiting in the store while they looked for it. Then I stupidly purchased another Sony Vaio that was supposed to be in stock at Gwinnett store - but it was supposed to be shipped to Marietta store. When it arrived, I drove in, picked it up. Micro Center is refusing to honor their "Holiday Extended Return Policy" as posted on their website and in store. (https://community.microcenter.com/kb/articles/784-micro-center-holiday-faq) I purchased some items on 11/05/2024, which is clearly inside the "Holiday Extended Return Policy" window for purchases made between 11/1/23 and 12/25/23. I was given the runaround and told by Tyler (the manager) when I was returning the items on 1/13/2024 that I could only receive store credit or nothing at all since I did not have a gift receipt and he could not return the funds to my original form of payment (credit card) per "store policy." He acted like he was doing me a "favor" by even offering "store credit." I reviewed the written policy on the website again and no where does it say in the policy that I need a gift receipt in order to return items under the "Holiday Extended Return Policy." I do not shop at Micro Center very often and prefer that the credit is issued to my credit card instead of store credit. After this incident I am not sure I will even be back at the store to spend "store credit." read more

In short, Micro Center is tale of two stores. The retail portion is uproariously funny, with folks who don't want to help you scattered about, more interested in catching up with each other than helping customers. the cashier line was 15 people deep, too. But this place saved my crashed hard drive, and in turn, my bacon. Their technicians are some of the most skilled in the city, so if you ever run into a technology problem, this is the place to go. I was able to learn why and how my drive crashed, got the data on an external HD, and I was on my way. But for some of the commodity stuff, definitely go online and buy it there instead. read more

Whatever you do, DO NOT get your PC built by Microcenter technicians. It has been nothing but a headache since I first got it built. At first, it took a few days to build (understandable). However, once I got the PC home, the system kept crashing. I returned it to Micro Center the next day, and they said they would get it done as soon as possible. A few days pass, and I hear nothing from my technician. Finally, about five days after I dropped off my computer, they realized they just needed to replace the RAM sticks. Which is completely fine, and this would not make me write a bad review on anything. I am very understanding, and I understand people may become busy. However, a few weeks pass, and I realize one of my AIO fans is not spinning. Since the AIO is mounted to the top of my PC, I had no clue it was not working until my system kept overheating and my games began to crash. So, on 01/26/24, I took my computer back to Microcenter. I was told that they would start working on the PC on 01/27/24. Usually, the technicians keep you very informed when they are working on your stuff. However, I have not heard anything, and today is the 30th. Overall, this experience has been downright awful. You would expect to get a fully functioning, smooth-running computer when you pay $2000+. You would also expect that fixing their mistake would be #1 priority, but that has proved to be false. read more

Apparently I violated the policy of the week and the manager was very proud of himself for catching me and stopping my purchase at the cash register. I think he thinks I will ever step foot in the store again. If you shop here ask about the policies before standing through the line. They may not want your business. Absolutely ridiculous, first the employees don't know enough to help you and then they make you stand in an impossibly long line that wraps through their section where they keep all of their garbage that nobody ever buys. I can only speak to the Apple repairs part of this business. The screen on my MacBook Pro cracked late last night so I went to make an appointment and Micro Center was the one that could get me in the quickest (10a the next morning). I drove the 25-30 minutes out there just to be told that the appointment is to drop off the computer, not for it to be serviced. Which would've been cool if it was like a 2-3 day fix, but I was told a technician wouldn't be there until August 6th, 8 days from today. As a student, it's impossible to go that long without a functioning laptop. If August 6th is when the tech would be there, why would you say you have availability before then? And who's to say the tech would even get to my laptop in the time they're at the shop? I would have to wait even longer than 8 days to truly have a repair. Many people walked in with Apple products and all were in line to realize they came out here for nothing. So, for repairs, I would urge you to stay as far away as possible and just go through Apple itself, not Micro Center. But maybe their retail isn't that bad? I don't know. read more

If your looking for cheap electrics this is a good place to stop by first, but I recommended not to get the additional warranty they offer you when you check out. My husband and I bought 2 tablets on sale for our neice and nephew. The cashier asked if we wanted to get the additional warrantees for each tablet. It would cover all damages to the tablets for 3years. It sounded great since the kids are very young. A few weeks later, the tablets cracked and wouldn't turn on. We called Micro Center to see how we could get it fixed by the warrantees. We were told they wouldn't be able to do anything for the tablets because the warrantees only cover items that are full priced. So pretty much the warratees were worthless. read more

Prob the best computer store in the state of ga. This place is heaven for a PC gamer. The staff is always available to help you get what ever part you need. I took off one star because their repair services are a bit pricey for simple services or things you can really learn to fix yourself. Use their online parts selector to find compatible pieces and did some research online before coming in. They are great for if you do not want to wait to get a specific pc part and need something a bit more immediate. It's fairly easy to find what you are looking for as the aisles have descriptions over them and again the staff are always helpful aswell. I've become a regular customer here and always return despite not even living in the area anymore. read more

I purchased a HP desktop for my home office, The computer consistently from after about 6 months (It was refurbished and I purchased a Warranty) I returned the computer for repair, the service manager was very rude, I asked about the warranty and stated " Well if it doesn't work we'll give you your money back" I asked "How long will it take" I was told 3 days, I was very frustrated at the length of time it would take for the repair because I use it for my Business, no one cared. I received the worst service after I purchased this computer. I finally received this computer and 4 months later it has the same problem (Ironically the warranty expires next month) I was told if it is a software problem I would be charged 99.00 to reinstall the software? I purchased a new computer. I suggest if you are in the market for a gaming computer or any type of computer, look somewhere other than Micro Center. My rating stands with Microcenter. After going back and forth with them they are not honoring their extended warranty and they won't stand by their 100% satisfaction guarantee. I have shopped at Micro Center for years. In fact, I moved from the area and made a 2-hour drive to return. Won't need to worry about that anymore......... Let me start by saying as a general rule I believe that extended warranties are a rip-off and not worth buying. Almost 2 years ago I purchased 3 1080 TI Hybrid cards for use in my systems. The sales person offered me an extended warranty which I declined. Then came the sales pitch, for 100$ I could protect my investment and when the time came to upgrade my video cards I would receive the value of my purchases toward a better card. As long as it was within 2 years. This weekend I drove into the Micro Center, Marietta and Duluth locations to upgrade my video cards. Original packaging, receipts and video cards only to be told I had it wrong and they would not honor the upgrades. It was over a 500 limit and had to be defective to qualify. That is NOT what I was sold, and it's kinda hard to read the fine print and the website when standing at the register. You have to kind of take the salesman at his word. WELL DON'T. I was lied to and paid for three highly overpriced extended warranty. A similar warranty thru other vendors were about 39.00. I assumed the extra cost was to cover the upgradeability I was promised. I am sure the salesman had a good laugh after ripping me off. I have spoken to several people who have upgraded lower priced gear with no trouble. I guess they were gonna lose money on my upgrades and decided not to honor the policy. I could have stooped to their level and simple "broke" the cards and turned them in for replacement. But THAT is not what I was sold and I refuse to lower myself to their level. On average I spend 5-7 thousand dollars a year on computers and related equipment. I can say that in the 20 years I have been buying computer gear I have NEVER met such a rude group of customer service employees and managers. 1. Don't pay for the extended warranties from anyone, they are a rip-off. 2. Go someplace other than Micro Center to shop. Use an online vendor like Amazon or Newegg. If you must buy from a brick store I recommend Frys. The customer service and equipment support is MUCH better and I have yet to be LIED to by a Frys employee. read more

You get to look at and smell boxed products and even hold them in your grubby little hands, they'll even let you buy them, you're so lucky. Ever wondered if that ATX tower looks good from a distance but it's made from pot metal and recycled condoms, you have your chance. Everything you could want for your build is there, even stuff you don't even know you want yet. Then there are the prices, oh man. Most of the time the prices for the main components like your motherboard, cpu, data storage device, etc completely obliterate online prices. Then there's open box items, these gems will save you 25-50% off of unopened items but you gotta be fast, there was one time when I went to snatch a GTX 970 open box but it was gone the same day it was listed, managed to get an open box 980 the following week for about $100 off the new price. Micro Center will bust the pcpartpicker list you worked so tirelessly on and you will save money. That and they put their bawls in a cooler by the checkout. read more
