You and I both know that Micro Center is the mecca for techheads this side of town. The unmistakable scent of ozone and B.O. that can only be found in server farms and, well, here attests to that. Need extra RAM, cheap USB drives, graphics and sound cards? They're all here, even satellite radio gear. Careful with the Sirius stuff though; nVidia killed the radio star. What else do you need? Six different kinds of KVM switches? A router maybe? Router? I don't even KNOW her. There are game consoles and games, new and used, and some crazy room dedicated entirely to these "Apple" products I've been hearing so much about. The staff? Some can reconfigure an old HP calculator and a game of Simon into Skynet; others can't even spell Skynet. It really depends on who you get. But if you're walking into a supersized Radio Shack like this one, then you probably already know what you need. So if you fail to make your saving throw with Best Buy, drive over to Micro Center and fight for the Users. It's enough to make you say "WoW!" read more

Ah yes, Micro Center. We had a long history together. This place has been here since the early 90's, probably longer. I was a budding computer geek, and I got my first computer here, my 286. Later, I bought my Pentium system here too. Luckily, I bought the lastest Pentium system and not the one with the floating point division bug. I think it was even over a 100 MHz. That was pretty fast back then. I was finally able to play my Where in the World is Carmen San Diego? on it. I had to reinstall DOS on that computer and lost my CD-ROM driver. So I went to Micro Center to get it. I remember the support dude being a huge douche. I think I was about 14-15 or so at that time and socially awkward. He probably didn't want to be bothered by some goofy Asian kid. Anyway, being the douche that he was, he didn't give it to me. So I had to go back and ask for it again. Luckily the support person was a different guy and much cooler. I still remember that douche though. Just for that, I'll always knock a star off from Micro Center. Every time I go back to Micro Center, I can see the age in the store. Even though they tried to remodel their stores to be more modern-looking, everything has that ancient feeling. Maybe I still see hints of the 90's when I come in. I'm surprised that it has lasted this long with CompuUSA and Circuit City going out of business. It is a decent place to pick up something computer related if you need it fast. They have almost anything you need from books, games, software, parts, and other accessories. The prices here are competitive as other brick and mortar places. I don't like dealing with sales people and don't like getting their spam. They do have nice selection though. Very disappointing experience every time I come here. Finding someone to help you is almost impossible, then once you do they either don't really care to help you. This experience was not any different. I stood in the RAM section for 10 minutes looking for what I needed until I finally saw a human being. I had to ask him for help and then he was not very helpful until I insisted. He was indifferent and then finally told me he might be able to find what I needed. After being gone for some time, he came back and told me what I needed was at the front. I went to check out and he found me and shoved a piece of paper in my hand. The piece of paper had the right item on it, so I figured I was fine. I took it to the cashier, paid and came home. Today, I tried in install the memory and it is the completely wrong memory - not even close. Again, they don't give a damn - or if there are people that do, I have yet to find them. I'll be returning the RAM to the Gwinnett store - which is not convenient at all. read more

Went with a friend from Mexico to BUY a $2000 computer for him to take back home and overheard another Hispanic woman being given a hard time. When I asked to speak to the manager (Andrew)I was told he didnt care about our business. He Wonder if corporate people care how they are coming across to the public? Very bad customer service. I tried to return a video card and was denied. I had a warranty which they said I had the wrong one? No you sold me the wrong one. And because of this they found every excuse they could not to give me an exchange. They offered a refund of just the warranty!? Micro Center is relatively boring compared to other stores that specialize in the sale of the same type of merchandise. The merchandising coordinator at this store definitely needs to do some extensive research on how to more effectively draw attention to the merchandise. None of the computer or electronic merchandise stood out or captured my attention, and believe me, I have a passion for stores that specialize in computers, electronics and video games. Also, it is probably a good idea to put prices on merchandise so that customers will know how much a particular item costs. Every time I have been here to shop around, the inside of the store looks like it was robbed in the middle of the night. It is an electronic and computer disaster area to say the least.. In face, the last time I was there I was looking for a controller for my Playstation 2 and I could not find one for at least an 20 minutes because the merchandise was so poorly organized. I tried to get an employee to help me find the item, but there was nobody around. Maybe they were taught to ignore the customer during their training process. When I did actually find the section dedicated to gaming and accessories, the controllers were scattered all over the floor like someone was in the middle of re-stocking the item and stopped to go to lunch. Frustrated and a little annoyed by my whole shopping experience, I sorted through the controllers and found what I was looking for. I went to the cash register to pay for the controller and the cashier told me that the item did not have a SKU, so he had to search through the computer database for what felt like an eternity for the proper SKU number so that he could finish the transaction. My recommendation is that you just bite the bullet and go a few miles down the road to the nearest Circuit City or Best Buy. At least you will get what you need and manage to be out of the store in 30 minutes or less. read more

Many years ago this was THE premo place for computer geeks to go to. You could get anything from higher-end computers to literally any part needed to build your own. Customer service was top-notch, and everyone could answer just about any question you had about anything. It was amazing compared to standard retail stores where most of your experiences were poor at best. As others have said, in the last few years, and especially the last 2-3 years, Microcenter Marietta has gone downhill a lot. It's more common to see the sales reps in the computer room socializing with each other, than helping customers and answering questions. On a recent trip where I had a relatively basic question about a video card, it took three salesmen to finally figure out the answer (after I pulled one away from watching a sports game on a flat screen TV they had on). Computer repairs once took two days or so. Now it takes them up to four to FIVE days (or more) before they even look at the machine to diagnose the problem. On a recent attempt to check the status of a repair, I called their store several times during the course of a day. Each time, trying the repair department directly, I got no answer after many rings (over 20 on each attempt). No voice mail. No "please wait for the next rep" canned machine speech. Nothing. No operator would answer when I bypassed the system. I finally reached a manager (on attempt 4) who said he'd have someone from repairs call me back - a full day later, no one has. Unfortunately, people I know have this type of experience more as standard now than those of years gone by. If you need a computer part or off-the-wall computer related item, Microcenter is still an ok place to go, provided you know what you're after and don't need any help. Just don't count on their past reputation for customer service to carry over into 2009 - it doesn't. If you need to call them for assistance, well, good luck. For this store with this level of service in today's economy, I'm afraid if these trends keep up much longer, the theme song will wind up being, "Another one bites the dust". read more

Well, I think this place is kindof a bore...I mean, I like playing on the computer and techy stuff in general, but my boyfriend likes to bring me there for a "quick stop" and keep me wandering in there for an hour so I am bored to tears. It might be payback for me dragging him to the mall shopping for girl clothes or something. They do have pretty much anything for your computer plus stereo equipment and some games and DVDs and a big Mac section with lots of good ipod accessories. I intend to give you a review that encompasses all concerns you will/may encounter in coming to this Microcenter location. My experience is as follows: So I have spent a few years going to this location. I started off with a knowledge base equal to knowing, "Computers do smart stuff I not do too good." The staff is incredibly helpful and spends 20+ minutes (over and hour recently when I was debating the switch to liquid cooling) with me each time I go in to make a purchase. This speaks to me in even greater character because I look and talk like a "dude-bro" and assumed I would be given the cold shoulder by the "geeky" employees when asking questions regarding building strategies and hardware specifications. They are always amiable and friendly, eager to engage in deep conversation over my new ideas for modding, and quite knowledgeable in their responses. However, there are two people at this location that are offensively aggressive in their commission based up-sales, often responding to my question by pointing to the most expensive product on the shelf as a solution, promptly thumping their sales sticker on the product and moving on to the next victim. It should be noted that those two employees are among at least twenty-five others who are solid workers. Six employees in particular are exceedingly consummate in their position of employment. It is those six I always go to when I am looking to upgrade. The rest are kind and courteous, proactive and friendly. In regards to prices, they follow traditional standard retail markups and offer 2 through 3 year warranties on their computer components for a pro-rated markup priced from the base value of said component. Their prices are fair but their warranties are outstanding. So far, when it comes to purchasing faulty products Microcenter in Marietta handled the issue (singular) honorably and promptly, even staying open a few minutes late to ensure the $130 item I had bought would leave the store in working condition. I worked with two techs on the return counter until we diagnosed and repaired the faulty part. In summary, I literally have never had an experience with a retail store of any kind that comes close to the brilliance of this locations operation. Talk about chaos within the chaos. It's impossible to find anything within this maelstrom of a store because the stock is barely kept in any organized manner. When my wife (who is an IT expert) asked an employee for some assistance he had the audacity to speak to her as if she didn't know anything about computers or IT. I think that's considered sexist? Hmm? I also like their policy of keeping sale items hidden away from the customers in order to sell the regular priced items or not keep them in stock in order to make it seem like they're all sold out. I had to go back the next day in order to return an item (RAM cards) where there were essentially the same types that were on sale but, dun dun dun... hidden. The store in Duluth is clean, organized, and the employees seem much more professional. Coming from a military family there is a simple policy, there are no bad teams, just bad leaders. Microcenter in Marietta embodies this philosophy. I would make an effort to avoid this story if possible. Dare I say that a Best Buy employee may actually be more knowledgeable than these guys? I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad in late August after being told specifically, by two different salespeople ("Thunder" and "Gary") that this machine comes with Office included. I had told both that I just needed Word and maybe Excel along with net access, etc. When I got it home, it now seems that Office is included in the sales price, for a one week trial only. Had I known this I would likely have bought a much lower priced Chromebook. I complained to MicroCenter Customer Service (Kevin G, and later Sahar) who both apologized for the confusion, and both told me they'd have the Marietta, GA store manager contact me. Over a week later and no contact from the manager, and no further response from MicroCenter regarding my complaint. I was pleased to find there was a Micro Center in this part of town. The only one I was aware of was out in Duluth, near Fry's (which makes it pretty much useless). I say that because Fry's has better prices and more selection than Micro Center. However, if you are looking for something specific for your computer, its a good bet that Micro Center will have it. Unless you are looking for something really obscure or saving a couple bucks is just THAT important to you, this is a great place to go. Despite not being Fry's, Micro Center still beats the crap out of any of the big-box retail stores with their selection. read more

I had a very frustrating experience at this location. I came in wanting a cheap charger for my iPhone 5, and I wandered around the sectioned-off Apple area for 20 minutes looking terribly confused and not one employee even acknowledged me. I am 18 years old, but I look younger than I am. It felt like the employees did see me as a valuable customer because of my age and because I was just getting one little item. The service here is terrible, and I will definitely not be returning to this location. Best Buy is much better. read more

I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 360 laptop in June, 2017, and the motherboard went out in September, 2017; while arguably not Micro Center's issue, resolution of the problem was. I gave them 1 star because after initially speaking with someone who identified themselves as "not a manager but he worked in the corporate office", and being advised that the Store policy is "a computer can be serviced but cannot be switched due to the expiration of the 15 day exchange period". I next spoke with someone I assumed was a manager who likewise refused my request to switch out the laptop again citing the "15 day exchange policy". Clearly missed by both individuals I spoke with on 9/16/17, was my concern about a laptop going on the fritz so soon after purchase (90 days) and the Store's inflexibility in addressing my concerns. While it is my intent to escalate this conversation on Monday, I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER ANYTHING FROM MICRO CENTER! Blind adherence to a policy without regard for a customers concern coupled with selling clearly defective products, seems to me a Corporate culture more concerned about profit than customer satisfaction; while it was my mistake trusting my dollars to this greedy Corporation, rest assured, the mistake won't be repeated. I've dealt with micro center for years, although not lately. I had an issue w a laptop purchased from a big box store and learned MC was a certified repair provider. I looked them up and was surprised at the low ratings. They were convenient so I took my chances. My experience couldn't have been any better. I entered w my laptop and was greeted immediately by the service manager. He listened and empathized w my recharging issue. He took me to the laptop room to see if it was the cable. Unfortunately not. He explained my options which required me to return the unit to the manufacturer. He offered backup service which I very much wanted. Before I left the store, Lance the repair tech had touched base with me. He also called later that afternoon on his progress. I had been thinking about another laptop and had a great experience with Seth. He went to repair to confirm the unit I had and offered several alternative manufacturers as I didn't want the same unit. He had complete knowledge of the components. He had comprehensive questions about my applications and needs. He anticipated some add ons that will improve the use of my unit. Julian was very helpful during the checkout process including educating me on additional savings available from using MC's credit card. Before I left I had 2 managers thank me for my purchase. The store wasn't very busy so your results may vary, but I'll forgive any future experience that might not match up because of the fact that the MC team is clearly focused on an outstanding customer experience. read more

I've come in within the past 2 weeks to purchase a 2080ti and an Evga power supply and the staff here have all been very nice and informative. Also, their protection plans are very generous and it's always useful to get one if you are buying high end hardware. read more

This microcenter has terrible customer service on the floor. The guy at the register was super nice so he gets the extra star but the guy we ended up pulling on the floor after we were waiting for help forever, walked past him multiple times while he was just standing around watching another worker help someone, was awful. Ended up having to go back to the store for things we were missing but went to the Duluth location instead where we got amazing help immediately and all our questions answered. I will remember in the future to only shop at the Duluth location, they have always been great! read more

Do not buy an "Out of Box" item from Micro Center!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I purchased a Power Spec PC from Micro Center on August 1st that was an out of box item. I wanted it because it have Windows 7 Professional on it and I needed that version for some security solutions that I have. I still paid $534 for it and got it home and found out that it had Windows 10 on it. I brought it back and they said that they would install Windows 7 on it but had to re-image it because of licensing issues. I said okay and they did; however, when I went to pick it up (2nd trip) they told me that it had no current updates and that they could either install them or that I could take it and do it myself. I again let them do it. I told them I should not pay $534 for a PC and then have to do the initial updates myself. I waited and called the next day, and the next day and the next. Then I went up there to pick it up after 3 days later I went up there and the technician that was working on it was not at work that day but it was "ready" (yet they didn't call me) so I picked it up (3rd trip). I got it home and discovered that it still had a long way to go. After another couple of weeks, the updates finally finished and I began installing MS Office, Adobe and other products... The when I began to use it (I teach Online University Classes) it crashed (I'm talking "Blue Screen" and no chance to save anything crashed). After about the 5th crash, I thought that maybe it was because of something that I installed so I uninstalled my software but it still crashed and crashed and crashed. So then fast forward to this week after exhausting everything that I could think of to resolve the issues, I called the store, told them patiently what was going on and tried to get them to work with me but they said that there was only a 15 day return policy on it. So I appealed on the spot and explain that it took that long to get the updates (that they were suppose to do) completed. Then the other problems.. So they told me okay and that I would receive a call from the store manager the next day. That was Tuesday (September 11th). Today I decided to go ahead and write this so that hopefully, anyone considering buying an "out of box" item from Micro Center will factor it into their decision. I have decided to accept my loss and post this review somewhere every chance that I get. Obviously, (in my opinion), you should never buy an out of box item from Micro Center. Recently purchased an entire new build within the last 2 days, the motherboard turned out to be faulty so I went back to get an exhange. The manager told me that it was "not our policy" and rudely told me to move aside as I was apparently in the way of other customers. This is not the first instance where I or my friends were treated rudely by the manager of this store. I ended up calling the microcenter in Duluth and before I could even finish explaining my problem the duluth manager told me "Don't worry, it doesn't matter what your problem is, we'll take care of you". Shop at the other microcenter if you can, I promise that it will be worth the 30 minute drive. Will never shop here again. read more

I have bought computers from Microcenter on Powers Fry Rd in Marietta for at least the last 10 years. They are great! Especially at the Tech Desk. Cudo's to Mark and Brooke...and one other person (so sorry - I cant think of your name right now). Always helpful. Good return policy on computers, if you happen to buy a computer you then don't like. Sales team is good...but it's the tech team I especially want to be knowledgeable and helpful. Helped me with my old, no longer under warranty computer when I kept losing internet. Gave me options including a $17.00 fix, which worked. They could have easily encouraged the sale of a new computer...but instead they gave me options. Love that store! read more

Horrible technical support and total ripoff. I have used Microcenter for years and have always been satisfied with their service and employees expertise. I purchased a Dell computer right before Christmas 2018. I used the computer I purchased for 2 months before I was in an accident that let me in the hospital for months. After several months I was able to use my hands I tried to log into the computer but it would not log in. I was going to send it back to Dell but it was 2 months out of warranty and Dell would not replace nor repair the computer. I took to Microcenter and dropped it off. After several months of constant calling I was told the computer could not be repaired. Micro Center should have honored the warranty. Very rude customer service reps and they do not stand behind their products. In the past the store was very helpful but no longer. I do not recommend his store for any computer purchases or their repair department. Shame on them. read more

After my experience at this micro center today, I never ever will shop here again. I went in today to buy an Apple TV and the Apple HDMI Cord. The only reason I go to microcenter instead of Apple, is that I'm too lazy to walk through the entire mall for Apple. Once I purchase the TV & Cord i bring it home to open it. Once I open the cord I find an old cord for a TV in the apple box completely sealed. I had to drive all the way back to the Microcenter to return the item and ended up with terrible service from a nasty older lady in the return section. They worked hard to make things right and I really appreciate that. It took posting here and getting corporate involved before the needle moved in the right direction but they did take care of things. They have some great technicians who truly care about the customers and in the end that is who took care of me and not the store management directly in any way. If it's up for outside input my vote is for Service Technician Lance Lewis to run the place ;) Very knowledgeable and willing to listen to me ramble and try and explain to him things I knew little to nothing about and then took real steps to find solutions. To summarize things, my faith in Micro Center was somewhat restored but unfortunately tarnished. I will still, and have since, purchase from Micro Center but with a bit more caution. Oh and I will not be purchasing another Power Spec computer anytime in the near future. read more
