When you realize you were served popcorn in the tip bucket..... DISCUSTING!!!!
    Wil G.

Have been here for the weekend for my kids dance competition. Have had two encounters with the Mid America staff that have been "interesting". While at the pickup waiting on my family to come out in the rain I was continually badgered to move because "other people need to pick up their kids" this even though there was no one there but me SMH. Then we picked up some popcorn and as the kids got through the bucket they saw writing on the inside and it turns out it was previously used a a tip jar!!!!!!!! DISGUSTING!!!!!

It seems horribly laid out, almost every time I go, we go the wrong direction to our seats because signs don't direct you properly and are confusing, even venue staff seem confused at how to direct you to your seats. This results in a lot of backtracking as the venue is huge. Most seats are nice but the very upper bowl is very steep, terrifying and never a desirable spot to be in. More recently, I've gone to Disney on ICE and have become even more unimpressed that they have zero diaper changing tables--it's just a hard counter out in the open. One time I even walked to the family bathroom, still a counter. I understand that most shows/events here aren't exactly for small children but to not even have that accessibility is wrong (and then expect people to bring in clear bags so your child doesn't have a cover/cushion at all to change them on). Seems like this would be a minor adjustment the venue could make to improve quality, and it can't be that expensive with all of the money they make on parking and concessions . Pros are of course that it is a big venue that gets decent shows and service from concession staff has always been friendly, even during packed shows.

They are older and walk with canes. They cannot walk long distances. We ordered what TicketMaster called Special Needs seating. There were absolute no signs about an ADA entrance. (We later found the entrance the next day.) There was also NO signage about the bag policy until you are in the doors. I have elderly parents with bags and we are then pushed to the side trying to figure out what to do with bags. We had a hotel shuttle drop us off. The best is when we walked a fair distance (over 1,000 feet) from the security area to scan our tickets. We were then informed the special needs tickets were "upgraded" and we had to see guest services. This means more walking for our parents. There are no seats to temporarily stage our parents while someone runs to guest services (it is not close to the ticket scanning area). Needless to say, it is clear the arena does not understand or care about the "special needs" attendees. Very disappointed with the customer service from the events center.

This year-round facility offers ice-skating in winter months and rollerskating in nicer weather. Plenty of places to people watch. Located next to the ConAgra campus and near the old market allows for plenty of restaurant food options before and/or after a little fresh air. It supports the food banks and money raised from the rink goes to feed hungry mouths. Each ticket is $5 per person even if you bring your own skates. They do accept credit cards and you are encouraged to bring shelf stable items for donations that you put in this big blue bins. Kids under 5 are free. There is a very over priced "cafe" that I've never gotten anything at; a tiny glass of swiss miss cocoa is $2.00. A small hot dog is like $5.00 but I think it comes with chips(?) There are a couple big red tents set up where you can sit and hang out if skating isn't your thing and sometimes they have performances. The photos I uploaded were from one of them. Some of them I think are going to the Olympics they were really good! The cutest one was a who and the Grinch. So adorable!! The rink itself is okay, I wish it was bigger to be honest with you but you do with what you have. I also wish they'd smooth it out more often because after awhile it gets very liquidy and grooved. Makes skating kinda scary if you're like me and very uncoordinated. Be prepared to sign a waiver also, if you hurt yourself don't plan on suing ConAgra or anyone else at this place. If you bring a child you must sign a waiver for them and if you bring someone else's child THEIR parent or legal guardian must sign it and they bring it to the rink. You are not allowed to do it for them. You can download and print the waivers off the website. Again please keep in mind this is a holiday event and for 2014 the hours were: Friday, December 12 through Sunday, January 4, 2015 Sunday - Thursday: 1 - 10 pm Friday & Saturday: 1 pm - midnight Christmas Eve & New Year's Eve: 1 - 5 pm Closed Christmas & New Year's Day To wrap it up, yes it's super fun and I think everyone should at least TRY to ice skate once in their lives. I hug the wall the whole time like a baby but I still have fun doing it.

Not because of the shows per se, but because of the community this place has created. The employees who make it all happen. I'll talk specifically about tonight. Went to a show, and had an issue with my ticket. This issue was an issue I created by making a mistake when the tickets were transferred, but Steelhouse employees were so quick and helpful. They took something that could have ruined a whole evening, and they resolved it within minutes. That alone was impressive and very kind especially since the mistake was not on their end. I was greeted by familiar faces, some who seemed to even remember me back. My next experience was specifically upstairs in the balcony. I'm currently expecting and needed to sit down and rest for a bit due to some complications I've been having. The employees checked on me regularly and went way above and beyond to make sure I was well cared for. I'm not special, they did this to everyone there. I saw paramedics with a gentleman, and shortly after, an employee took the rest of his evening to sit next to this ill person and assist them until I can only assume their ride arrived safely. The janitors were kind, and picked up very quickly after people's accidents left and right. Their work does not go unappreciated by people like me, who could've slipped and fallen on the spilled drinks along the way to and from the GA floor. Even the elevator greeters genuinely seemed excited for you to experience all this place had to offer. The cops that nod your way as you exit the venue are kind as well. This place doesn't appear to be an establishment of employees, but a community built upon responsibility and caring for one another - what a venue should be. I will be back, and I cannot wait to greet the faces of those who work so hard to make simple concerts so so special and memorable in ways that you just don't find just anywhere.

The service is too notch and plenty of ushers do walk you directly to your seats. There are at least four bars from what I saw (one in main hallway and three in the seating/stage area). There were plenty of bartenders as well. They have a coat check in and there's plenty of space to stand around before the show starts. My only complaint is the seats are small foldable chairs and connected to each other so you can't move them at all and you can be touching elbows or bottoms depending on the size of people

By the time I realized we were studying "Formal" or "Modern Standard Arabic (MSA)" a week had past (but there was only two classes a week). (When I spoke Egyptian, the teacher said, "none of that here". Notice I said "teacher"; she was a recent transplant from Iraq and obviously, didn't speak Egyptian.) So I dropped the course - I'd already had much MSA - but good ol' UNO charged me $600.00 dollars WHICH I REFUSE TO PAY! As this was a FALSE representation of a course AND was not even taught by a professor. Mind you, I have, and had at the time, a MA from the U of A Tucson and had studied at the American University in Cairo and had worked professionally with UW Seattle teachers to produce language-learning CDs in Arabic, Persian, Hebrew and Hieroglyphs. UNO denied my appeal - EVEN after I got the author of the text book UNO was using for the course - to write a letter on my behalf stating that the text is clearing teaching the Egyptian Arabic dialect, and NOT Formal or MSA, and that the syllabus for the course did not match the textbook. And now I can't get my transcripts so I can find work to do at home: I'm disabled with Lupus currently. I can't afford their $600 dollar scam. UNO is an unfair, money-hungry institution. I've had language courses at U of MI; Portland U; U of WA; U of A Tucson; the American U in Cairo and am in good standing at all. THESE ARE WORTHY, PROFESSIONAL UNIVERSITIES; DON'T WAST YOUR TIME AND MONEY AT UNO. THEY REALLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU - BUT YOUR MONEY.
